Do Union Bosses and Their Allies Want to Nationalize and Control Your Retirement Too??? In a Word: YES.

Overshadowed by the desire to nationalize health care, the delusionally-dubbed Employee Free Choice Act, and a host of other items on the progressive socialist wish list is the union desire to nationalize your retirement.

As many union pension funds have tanked and entered the “critical status” (view 2009 list of critical pensions here), union bosses have come up with a new scheme and are creating a ‘national dialogue’ [read: propaganda campaign] to encourage discussion toward developing a “new” [read: nationalized] retirement system in the U.S.

While this originally surfaced toward the tail end of last year, there seems to be some growing momentum to this effort.

Indeed, a union-backed group calling itself Retirement USA is holding a conference today to discuss this very topic–nationalizing your health care retirement.

Retirement USAis another friendly-sounding, wolf-in-sheep’s clothing consortium of unions (including the AFL-CIO and SEIU) and union-funded groups. Their tag line is: Working for a Universal, Secure and Adequate Retirement System.

As the SEIU’s Steve Abrecht who is the union’s Director of Benefits and Capital Stewardship explains, their core principles are:

  1. Every worker should be covered by a retirement plan, in addition to Social Security.
  2. The system needs to be as secure as we can make it. We all understand the multiple risks associated with long-term work life, investment horizons and retirement horizons. The system needs to provide employers and employees ways to manage the risks within acceptable limits.
  3. Finally everyone should be able to have an adequate retirement income after a lifetime of work. So that when paired with Social Security, an average worker will have sufficient income to match around 70% of pre-retirement income.

Their solution, according to this press report, is to create “a new retirement system which would include social security and current plans.”

Hold on to your proverbial wallets because, even though union bosses make the claim they are not endorsing any particular system, you can be rest assured that they are aiming for a redistribution of assets. And, like Argentina did, they may very well be looking to seize your 401[k] and your pension too.

I think it was in the WSJ yesterday or Monday that the funding for this government mandatory retirement program would come from seizing all 410k assets (and presumably 403b too) in return for a future guarenteed benefit plan to be determined by the government and, like social security, to be funded by future taxes rather than actuarial soundness.

In other words, like Argentina, a great bonanza for present day politicians to spend wildly from confiscated savings in return for more unfunded liabilities on top of our present debt.

That is, theft of today’s assets in return for a worthless IOUs. All of course, the sponsors say “it’s all for your own good”.

Well when the government comes with it’s feared words “we’re here to help”, doom approaches.

Unions = thugs with credentials. You all know this. Especially, if you belong to one. And you want them to get money for taking your retirement, funding themselves and “losing” it just like they lost $88 billion in TARP money? You must be kidding!

Why is it so quiet here? I know, it seems unimaginable that this would occur here in the USA. We have a constitution, you say. That constitution is not stopping abortion, wealth redistribution through taxes, social security, healthcare laws, and many more unconstitutional actions by the federal government. And if I had told you that we had an avowed Marxist in charge of generating jobs in this country, would you have believed it? So no, you must be aware of these prospective actions by an increasingly socialist-leaning government, and speak out now! There are congressmen wanting to get rid of the two-term limits on POTUS. The stage is being set; the more pieces on the table, the tougher it is knock them over.
