WOW! Goldman Sachs Execs Arming Themselves Against…the SEIU?!?

We first saw this on the blog of the Union of Purple People Eaters (aka the SEIU), so we had to ‘fact-check’ the story and, sure enough, it appears to be true.

According to Bloomberg, executives at failed-NJ governor John Corzine’s old company, Goldman Sachs, are applying for handgun permits and exercising their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms.

While it should always be everyone’s (except outlaws’) right to carry, locked and loaded, in this case, the “why” is a bit odd.

According to Bloomberg’s Alice Schroder:

“I just wrote my first reference for a gun permit,” said a friend, who told me of swearing to the good character of a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. banker who applied to the local police for a permit to buy a pistol. The banker had told this friend of mine that senior Goldman people have loaded up on firearms and are now equipped to defend themselves if there is a populist uprising against the bank.

I called Goldman Sachs spokesman Lucas van Praag to ask whether it’s true that Goldman partners feel they need handguns to protect themselves from the angry proletariat. He didn’t call me back….

Talk that Goldman bankers might have armed themselves in self-defense would sound ludicrous, were it not so apt a metaphor for the way that the most successful people on Wall Street have become a target for public rage.

Now, to make matters even stranger, the Union of Purple People Eaters (aka the SEIU) seems to relishing in the idea that the ‘bourgeoisie’ is arming itself against a ‘proletariat’ uprising.

The SEIU blog almost gleefully notes:

That’s nothing, though, compared to today’s news. Bloomberg is reporting that Goldman Sachs execs are loading up on firearms “and are now equipped to defend themselves if there is a populist uprising against the bank.” The NYPD confirmed that, in fact, senior-level Goldman executives are now packing heat to protect themselves from… us? [Emphasis in original.]

…before announcing another demonstration:

If we really want to get the message across, I guess we’re going to have to meet them in New York. On December 14th – around the time Wall Street banks are expected to announce their bonuses for 2009 – we’re gathering outside Goldman Sachs to suggest some alternate uses for that money.

And, this time, you can be a part of it even if you aren’t in New York. There will be dozens of actions taking place in cities across the country at the same time - all outside the big banks that have taken our tax dollars but done nothing to help get the economy moving again.

We’ll have the details at SEIU.org/bigbanks in the next few days about how you can get involved. I hope you’ll come out and join us. And I hope we won’t need to wear our bulletproof vests. [Emphasis in original.]

Forgetting the SEIU’s mocking tone, regardless of their (and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, and other Democrats’) culpability in the financial morass the nation is in, Goldman Sachs execs are probably right to have a concern for their own safety.

In fact, given the SEIU’s brutish and thug-like tactics against its own members, a boy scout, its egg-throwing at teachers, as well as its alleged beat down on one of its own members and a flag-selling black conservative, their fear may indeed be very justified.

One consolation though: At least with the nationwide shortage of ammunition Goldman Sachs execs will be able to use taxpayer bailout money to load up their 9 mms with.

    the ANIMALS in the SEIU I say more power to them. This is a warning for the SEIU as well because the bottom line is they are NEVER again going to just be allowed to treat people who put in a hard days work like common criminals. It is because these bankers allowed ACORN and the SEIU to run roughshod over them the past couple of decades that emboldened those groups to become ever more aggressive.

    I see nothing but good things to come of this development, now these people can protect their families in their homes and themselves from the ANIMALS who run with those “Community Organizers” groups!

      For the last five years, we’ve been one of only three bloggers trying to alert people to the shenanigans of today’s union bosses and their plans to hijack America (esp. through the hallucinogenically-named Employee Free Choice Act).

      Despite hundreds of blog entries, numerous presentations and press releases, it wasn’t until BHO & Co. took on health care and began disptaching the unions to do their dirty work did America begin to wake up.

      Now, there are blogs (and bloggers) galore punching the SEIU (et al.) back ‘twice as hard.’

      Perhaps Kenneth Gladney should be thanked for taking a punch and a kick or two for freedom, for he has become the Rosa Parks for today’s freedom fighters.

      The “streeters” blindly supported this insanity, but now see the light…….. but only as the light pertains to their own damn selves.

      However, since I’m rather well-acquainted with the various firearms regulations across the nation, I’d like to make a suggestion to the Goldman folks living in NJ who are finally realizing the damage they’ve done……… and what might be coming down the pike and thus partaking in the right to keep and
      bear Arms (which) shall not be infringed.

      Ammo….. JHP’s….. Illegal to possess even one round of it. Oh wait, y’all probably don’t know what those letters stand for….. Jacketed Hollow Point…… a.k.a., “self-defense ammunition”.

      The Garden State doesn’t exactly care for that pesky 2nd Amendment thingy, so deal with it and maybe… just maybe…. you’ll really wake up soon and we’ll get some actual “change”.

      NYC people ? Heh. Y’all are just screwed, blued and tattooed…… you have to have a permit just to go to the range.

      Check into this itty-bitty thing called The Sullivan Act.

    They voted for a guy in Obama, who had these thugs from the SEIU in his back pocket and now feel they need to exercise the right that we tend to defend vigorously to and the guy that they voted for would take away that right if he could get away with it.

    I guess voting for Mr. Government wasn’t the best thing for them now was it.

    You know, my mother always used to say you find sympathy between *&It and syphillis in the dictionary. Because for these folks I have none.

    These idiots will get their permits because of the millions of dollars they pumped into the coffers of the ruling party. Meanwhile, the average citizen who is a potential victim of everyday street thugs, still has a large target on their backs because of the morons these clowns helped get elected. I am so glad to live in a “shall issue” state.

    The Union of Purple People Beaters is a great nom du jour for the SEIU.

    However, as the SEIU has been EATING people longer than it has been BEATING people, we’re sticking with the E…

    Besides, once the SEIU does away with secret-ballot elections by BEATING its opposition into submission, it will go back to being more focused on EATING people again.

    Lastly, we’d rather not portend to be the originator of the Purple People Beaters concept, as someone else is doing a great job with it.
