Obama’s Oil Spill: Just get out of the way…

Yeah, British Petroleum may have caused the gusher, but President Obama and his union-controlled federal bureaucrats now own the disaster:

Governor Riley was in Huntsville Wednesday afternoon updating leaders on the state of our state… namely how we’re dealing with the oil spill.

He said he believes Alabama leaders could have stopped the oil from lapping onto our shores, if only they had the tools from the start.

“Can we protect our shores?” Governor Riley asked. “Sure you can, but you can’t do it with the situation that you have down there today.”

Riley says there are about 20 federal agencies that have veto power, and they all have their hand in the decisions to clean up the spill; that creates gridlock, so nothing gets done.

“If this is going to affect a turtle, you can’t do it. If this is going to affect a person’s ability to work in hot conditions, you can’t do it,” Riley mimicked the agency officials.

The Governor says there was a boom in Alabama that would have protected the 25 miles of coastline from the oil, but he says government leaders moved it to Louisiana, saying that state needed it worse. Then, the plan was to put up a snare boom across the beach.

“Sounded like a plan to me until Fish and Wildlife said, ‘Nope. You can’t do that because it’ll catch turtles in the net,’” said Riley.

So, then the plan changed, and 400 workers would be hired to clean the beach.

“Sounded great right up until OSHA said, ‘Nope. It’s too hot for ‘em to work.’ So, now they’re limited to working no more than 20 minutes out of the hour or a maximum of two hours a day,” said Riley.

What is perhaps the world’s worst environmental disaster in history can now be laid squarely at this President’s feet.  He may not have started it, but his government has helped spread it.

Mr. President, please get your bureaucracy out of the way and let real men and women clean up the mess you helped create.

Imagine that, the spill is being managed by the most brilliant socialist minds the Boy President can find and the results are the same as…

    Fannie and Freddy
    The Post Office
    Medicare/Medicaid
    Cash for Clunkers
need me to list a few more? I didn’t think so.

    Or common sense.

Common sense tells us the coastline needs to be protected, whether or not OSHA says its too hot. Or whether or not Fish and Wildlife says the turtles might be adversely affected.

Here’s an idea. Assert local authority and control with new parish/county statutes with TEETH.

The parish/county sheriffs of each parish/county along the gulf are the chief law enforcement authority elected by the people. Every parish/county could immediately convene and pass county ordinances stating that the parish/county councils have supreme authority to protect the coastline and that anyone interfering with their efforts is committing a crime punishable by confinement for the maximum amount of time allowable in the rooms with bars and locks the sheriffs maintain — the county jails.

Then the county officials and their sheriffs should ignore all federal mandates and “orders” from federal officials. Simply ignore them. Then do what they have to do and arrest any federal official who attempts to impede their progress. Any arrested federal officials could then be placed in work release programs to help protect the coastline and cleanup the oil.

Our Dictator In Training Pants won’t care or do a thing about it…….. Unless……. He had plans to do the same thing himself with those rigs and gets his buddy Oooooooogo on the phone to explain that to him.

sheesh, talk about asking for trouble.

All the rogue leaders need to be starved. Including Wash DC. They don’t need any more taxpayer money.

O and his admin. of dopes can never run away from the fact that they have made this disaster much much worse. Even if he and the Libs were attempting to make the Republican Governors look bad and unqualified, even someone with a brain the size of a pin head knows that it is the Federal Government that is in charge of the clean up. They sure put that fact front and center for Bush with Katrina. The O has been screaming that he is in charge, and has been since day one. Bingo Mr. O, you own it.

I stop short of saying that this government didn’t cause the disaster. This juror is still out, and may remain there for ever. BP has been heavily funding Democrats, and especially the O. Also, here is an article about BP’s involvement with the Environmentalist organizations from a few weeks ago-

If the environmentalists are so anti-oil, why would they take money from what was widely perceived to be an oil company, that is seen to be polluting the environment? Of course BP used Beyond Petroleum in TV advertisements, and, I believe have legally changed their name to BP, not British Petroleum. It is widely known also that they have made major investments into green energy initiatives.

The biggest question I have about the incident is- Why did the BP Company man, Donald Vidrine, the one with the most authority on the rig, decide just 12 hours before the explosion, to “demand” under much protest, that the rig workers displace the heavy mud, which added stability to the well, and kept the gasses from building up and shooting up through the long string, with light sea water, when the well was already well know to be in trouble? Vladimir has already posted about the well’s design flaws. Why was the rig allowed to go uninspected, and who made that decision?

In an investigative hearing with the CG and the MMS, that “argument” was testified to by other rig workers that heard the skirmish. Mr. Vidrine was not present at the hearing claiming “undisclosed health problems.” The main driller Davey Revette, that I believe would have been the one doing the displacing, was killed in the explosion.

Until someone does a through investigation into Mr. Vidrine, and comes up with something better than BP was trying to save money, this juror remains out.

I can see another 0bama wannabe rock star ‘tour’, like the Heath Care Benefits Sales Tour (or whatever they are calling it today), to sell the public the bill of goods that 0bama was in control from day 1, and he can’t suck it up with a straw, and anyway it’s Bush’s fault. And windmills.
