Arizona’s Arpaio Faces Off Against AFL-CIO’s Alinskyite Acuff

Straight-shooting Sheriff swats a left-winged fly out of the sky.

An interesting exchange occurred on Fox News between Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the AFL-CIO’s Stewart Acuff over the AFL-CIO’s call to end federal funding for training Arizona law enforcement agencies.

Acuff has been and continues to be the mouthpiece for the AFL-CIO (a federation of 56 national unions) on a variety of issues, from the nationalization of health care to the job-destroying and hallucinogenically-named Employee Free Choice Act.  As of late, though, the AFL-CIO, as well as non-AFL-CIO unions like the SEIU and UFCW, have been using Arizona’s new immigration bill as a means to further their Amnesty for Illegals campaign.

As one of the AFL-CIO’s primary spokemen, Acuff (who also happens to be a former SEIUer) was one of the vocal proponents of the SEIU’s Craig Becker being placed onto the National Labor Relations Board and he was one of the speakers at 2009′s Netroots Nation (the left-wing blog event for socialist progressive bloggers).  Acuff was a panel participant at the left-wing conference discussing:  The Secret Plan to Defeat the Right Forever. [Though it never really was a secret.]

Modernizing the nation’s labor law is critical to expanding union membership—which in turn, will ensure conservatives become a permanent minority, as newly-empowered workers actively engage in political action and demand a new way of doing the nation’s business, like creating an economy that rewards Main Street and not just Wall Street. The freedom to form unions and bargain is critical to the progressive movement—when workers have the tools they need to build a better life, they have the power to improve their communities and the solidarity to make progressive political change throughout the nation.

Here is the clip [via Breitbart TV] of the AFL-CIO Alinskyite, Stewart Acuff, going after Joe Arpaio.  As you watch, note Acuff’s grin as he tries (to no avail) to mock Arpaio (using three of Alinky’s tactics) by focusing on a singular statement about the four other police chiefs opposed to SB1070:

  • Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.
  • Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”
  • Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Despite being up against a trained Alinskyite, straight-shooting Sheriff Joe handled himself quite well.

If they are going to talk about “ending federal funding” to rogue outfits.

Uh, you know what? Before much more time goes on, the right is going to be better at Alinksy then the left is. We’re a ton smarter (but then a turnip is at least a half- ton smarter). We just need to get meaner.

comes up this Thursday I believe. It is the cops case against the AZ law. It is being heard by a Clinton appointed judge, can’t remember her name. She is also the one that allowed Mexico to join in with the lawsuits. The federal case was originally assigned to another judge, but, the feds requested that she be the judge to rule on their case. They wanted the same judge to rule on all the lawsuits. Should be interesting. I’ve stocked up on popcorn.

The Fox News guy was an absolute failure in this exchange. He let Acuff dominate the time, agreed with Acuff inappropriately (e.g. illegal aliens are not “immigrants” like his forebears from County Cork – unless his family arrived in the US illegally) and generally allowed the Left’s favorite tactic of taking as much time as possible to reduce the ability of the other side to respond.
