A tribute to Catherine Engelbrecht and her Texas poll watchers

Today Conservatives are basking in the afterglow of major stunning midterm election victories across the nation. Many different kinds of people contributed to these victories: from campaign managers, bloggers, precinct captains, Tea Partiers and phone bankers. The list goes on.

However one individual stands out in my mind as being a true hero and American Patriot during this election. Her name is Catherine Engelbrecht, picture below.

Catherine Engelbrecht

Two weeks ago I had never heard Ms. Engelbrecht’s name, or was even aware of the organizations she founded: King Street Patriots and True The Vote in Texas. She and her groups are focused on ferreting out voter fraud and implementing measures to ensure voting and election integrity. She also trained poll watchers via Texas law and had them placed in polling stations in Harris County (Houston area) Texas.

Ms. Engelbrecht and her organizations became known to me when I was alerted last week to a myriad of crises erupting in Harris County pertaining to the placement of her poll watchers when early voting began. Right from the start her poll watchers were faced with intimidation, not only by Dems but by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, harassment both physical and verbal, and threats to their personal safety. Ms. Engelbrecht is also being sued by the Harris County Democratic Party and Houston Votes, an ACORN off-shoot and also has charges against her for alleged ethics violations. For only doing her patriotic duty. Please read my previous posts on this amazing and most disturbing situation.

I had my third phone conversation with Ms. Engelbrecht yesterday afternoon, November 2, about 4:30 pm. She began to tell me in spite of many previous incidents this day had been relatively calm and free of drama. But not five minutes into our conversation we were interrupted by what she told me could be another crisis brewing. A call from one of her poll watchers, situation at that time unknown. Ms. Engelbrecht got back to me about five hours later and explained what had happened. Quanell X and his New Black Panther thugs in Houston had decided to stage and orchestrate major drama in Precinct 202 in Harris County, entering the polling station and demanding the poll watchers be removed.

The original purpose of this diary was to delve into detail about this major incident however after reflection I decided the post needed to focus on Ms. Engelbrecht. Those who wish to read the entire story about Quanell X and his trouble-making can find it on Emerging Corruption.

In spite of all the threats, intimidation, drama and pending lawsuits, Ms. Engelbrecht again re-iterated it is “all worth it” and will continue to press on, and she and her poll watchers will not be discouraged from doing their civic duty, that is protecting the integrity of the election process.

My friends, Ms. Engelbrecht and her poll watchers are true American heroes and need our support, recognition and admiration.

America needs more people like them who refuse to back-off in the face of intimidation. A major “thank you” and tribute to you all.

Ms. Engelbrecht, I am privileged to know you.

We had a rep from KSP come talk to our county GOP Executive Committee in September. Is was an eyeopener and dovetailed with our precinct Chair Training we presented that night. We learned that a neighboring county to our east (Chambers) has more registered voters than residents.
I believe KSP is a manifestation of of regular Americans getting off the sofas and doing the hard work needed to secure our voting process. I applaud them and also the good Lady for keeping the Harris County issues visible on RedState.
I do my part by serving as an election judge. I get to hand pick my team, and while my rural area will like;y never be subject to a poll watcher, it wouldn’t bother me in the least. We run a fair and honest precinct and have no problem following all the rules.
However, after running about 5 elections now, just yesterday I realized that I work hard to make sure idiots are able to cast ballots and it really started to bother me.
Sheila Jackson Lee re-elected… sheesh. At least Michael Berry will have a couple more years of material for his show. But I digress.
Today is our day of rest.
Tomorrow, we start working again. Figure out how you can get off the couch and make your party, county and precinct stronger, more honest and more conservative. Not involved? Get involved. Already involved? Get more involved.

The King Streeters have my total admiration….. You do as well.

I honestly thought that if the fur was really gonna fly yesterday, it would have been in Harris County.

    ———

BTW…… Congrats on some sanity getting back in Ohio. Thank God that gun-grabbing maniac Lewis didn’t get elected.

your article is heartening and authentic. I have not met her but have heard her in local interviews, she is unbelieveably cool and calm, and uses that same line “it’s all worth it” in summation when she talks about all she and KSP are going through. Because of her I served yesterday in a precinct in Harris County – got up and did something, feels great to have been even a grain of sand in the solid wall that was built to stop the corrupt Dem operatives from stealing the *fourth* largest city in the nation and throw the gubernatorial election (they already have NY, LA and Chicago firmly in their grasp). One comes away from Catherine’s presence, be it media or in person, feeling one has been in the presence of one of the guardian angels of the Republic. Pure patriotism. What a privilege indeed.

And yes, you are correct about Catherine. She is cool, calm and collected. Not once in our conversations did I hear any hint of a *sigh* or any sign of weakness. The woman is tireless.

It is written in passed tense, a way that Qanell would like her to be

    • ladyimpactohio

      Changed it.

I would love to see the new House adopt a law standardizing voting in all federal elections. This is one brave woman who is sick and tired of fraud and decided to do something about it.

Looks like the women are the ones leading the charge again.

Please extend her my best wishes. I can understand what she’s going through as someone who went through a similar mess. I was lucky, hers was worse. CC, TX vs. Houston.

For more information of elections in Texas check out TX 27- Texas Toss Up in my diaries. It’s a mess, literally.

A note to possible reader; Texas, even TX 27, can be rough and sometimes folks need to be careful how they phrase things.

Once again: Catherine Engelbrecht is a Patriot!

    • ladyimpactohio

She is my pick for No. 1 Patriot in this election, along with her poll watchers. Undaunted, unintimidated. This is one brave woman. Kudos to all in Texas who stood up to this morass.

All your kind mentions here will undoubtedly spur her and all her poll watchers to continue their brave and undaunted courage.

Catherine Engelbrecht should be the first (or featured) witness in the Congressional hearings called by the 111th Congress on voter fraud! We are Texas proud of her actions!

To paraphrase that cute little murderous fuzzball tyrant Josef Stalin “Its not the voters who determine the outcome of an election, its those who count the votes who do”. This is how the skullduggerous democRATS have operated for a very long time. I’m by no means saying repubs are above such shenanigans, but this is the democRAT modus operandi. Al Franken and all those “lost” ballats that suddenly appeared (all for HIM too!) and I guarantee that the gov race in Conn will go to the democRAT due to the crooked DemocRAT Secy of State. Operation Soros openly bragged about putting marxist operatives in key Secy of State positions to steer the outcome of elections. I firmly believe comrade reid stole the election in Nevada – come on, the SEIU maintains the voting hardware? And the list goes on. Bottom line: the marxists know they can’t win on ideas or ideology; they can only lie, smear, pander, bribe and cheat. We’re onto them now, and it is now within our purview to fix this broken voting system and make elections fair. Catherine – Thank you! You and your folks are True Patriots.

There should be an election supervisor judicial provision for closing any precint when malfeasance / intimidation occurs and there need to be HEAVY penalties for those involved….. this stuff is all Democrats.

last night, but no mention of this incident. They asked viewers to forward info of anything they missed.

It wouldn’t work for me–did anybody else try?

I saw Catherine speak about the King Street Patriots volunteer poll watching effort at the November 16, 2010 Tea Party at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston. She inspired me to sign up and I was honored to be able to participate as a poll watcher in Harris County in this election. I served once in the early voting period and again on election day.

To be fair, the precincts that I served in were, for the most part, pretty well run, as everyone was on their best behavior. But I am confident that these precincts were brought to full attention by the knowledge that trained, highly motivated poll watchers were coming out in force, including to their own previously unmonitored precincts.

I hope that other areas around the country will mobilize their own volunteer poll watching efforts to “True the Vote” for the next upcoming presidential election. It is a service that is very much needed for an election that will be pivotal for the future of our country.

In case anyone is interested, here is a link to Catherine Engelbrecht’s King Street Patriot’s “True the Vote” website:

I was told there were certain areas and precincts which were hard hit by intimidation and others which were pretty much left alone.

I know Catherine had a limited number of poll watchers. My guess would be she placed them in areas where the highest and most probable instances of voter fraud could or would be. However those same areas in many cases were also areas hit hard by harassment.

      • MojoMan

Since I did not hear about the movement prior to the Tea Party event on October 16, 2010, I think I may have been a little late to the game. My understanding was that the King Street Patriots trained over 750 poll watchers in the Houston area for the election, and the local news said on election eve that it was 1,000. I was probably one of the later King Street Patriots assigned to an election day precinct location.

Watching the local news the night before the election, a well known local liberal African American leader named Quanell X (sort of a Jesse Jackson wannabee) was interviewed and claimed to have trained 800 members of the New Black Panther party to be poll watchers. However, this is a significant logistical exercise, to be sure, and I was skeptical of his claim the moment I heard it. Whether his claim was true or not, I do not know. But I did not see any New Black Panthers during my time as a poll watcher. That I can say for certain.

        • ladyimpactohio

poll watchers. And yea, Quanell X did cause a ruckus. If you missed the story, can read it here:

dark of night rattling the door knobs and testing the windows. He leaves the ones where he feels any resistance, and goes in where it is not locked up. Catherine built a firewall of poll watchers and officers this time and the bad guys felt the resistance in Harris County TX. They went somewhere else or just lay low. Sometimes, what you never hear about – because it never happened – is more important than what you do hear about because it did happen. Harris County was not stolen in 2010, in order to throw the gubernatorial election – that was the Dem thug plan. Rick Perry went on to absolutely squash the lib Bill White like a bug under his boot. The 57-42 blowout was so bad, the MSM won’t even touch it as a dot point item downpage. Thank you Catherine, the vote was true.
