Greetings, People of West Virginia!

Just wanted to assure you that your Senior Senator is still up and around and perfectly capable of executing the duties you elected him to perform.  Behold! I have video proof:

And now a message for the rest of America: remember when the Democrat speechwriter talking point was that we should abandon Iraq so we could focus our efforts on Al Qaeda in Afghanistan? I remember, too! Apparently, the new Democrat speechwriter talking point is that we should abandon Afghanistan so we can focus our efforts on Al Qaeda in… mmmphpuddingmmmphlrg. Well, I’m sure that’s as much of a rallying call for you as it is for me!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I made it to the 4 minute mark

Two comments:
1) Twenty bucks says he didn’t type that speech himself, and
2) by the 4 minute mark, I counted 6 confirmed naps, with two more as possibles…

Byrd apparently disapproves of military victory...

…at about minute 8 (yes, I got that far and further) he quotes some who say we need to “surge” in some manner in Afghanistan, but he says “surge” suspiciously… then says, ominously, “surge. where have I heard that term before?”… Hmm, I don’t know, Senator Byrd, might you be referring to the tactic that finally brought some peace and stability to Iraq? If so, why are you saying “surge” so ominously? Don’t you like military success?

You are a Dem, of course, and since you’re the only member of the Senate who was a member of the KKK, perhaps it’s just that you don’t like that we’re helping brown people, hmm?

“We sleep soundly in our beds only because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those who would do us harm Dear Leader Obama gives us leave to do so.”

Those who criticize Byrd for being a former member of the KKK,

conveniently seem to forget about his valiant service as a member of the Sons of Liberty.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge.

Good post Leon.

The rhetoric is so blatant, is it not?

I was terrified and ashamed when Strom Thurman

looked and sounded this way before he left the Senate. It is a crying shame a grown may his age would be so egotistical that he wouldn’t let go and give some other younger person an opportunity to represent West Virginia. May God have mercy on his KKK soul and may he burn in hades an hour before the devil knows he is there. However, since this fiasco in Afghanistan has totally become a political war now with rules of engagement which the US troops can not win, NOT ANOTHER US SOLDIER, SAILOR, AIRMAN OR MARINE OR CIA AGENT BE LOST THERE! We don’t have the money to fight and win there. The Chinese are going to win economically there while we use their money to die and protect them. Bring the troops home; we need them here. There is a domestic enemy we need the military to take care of here at home and WE NEED THEM NOW. Bring them HOME, bring them all home. From SW Asia, NE Asia, Europe, the Mid East and everywhere. We need them to clean up the communists in our country before it is too late.

Bring our military and intelligence forces home to the good ole USA. We need them here and now to remove the communists which have infiltrated our Federal government.

Byrd still makes more sense than Lindsey Graham :)

and I saw him talking and had to immediately turn it…I couldn’t be reminded of the mistake this state makes over and over again.

Maybe Bob Byrd has forgotten...

Brian Faughnan Thursday, October 15th at 9:17PM EDT (link)

but the reason he gets the cool chair, and the reason no one interrupts his rambling, is that he is a United States Senator. Looking at him, it’s easy to imagine that that fact has slipped his mind.

In any case, ‘Byrd’ seems to have lots of questions; there’s lots he does not know - or has forgotten - about what’s happening in South Asia.

Perhaps one of his staff can remind him that he is not only a US Senator, he is in fact, one of the most powerful members of the Senate. He can call hearings. He can summon witnesses.

Interestingly, General McChrystal is reportedly hoping to testify about his troop request. He is expecting to. If the person writing ‘Byrd’s’ speeches wants answers to these questions, it could probably be arranged for ‘Byrd’ to sign a letter requesting McChrystal come and testify before the Appropriations Committee.

Then it’s just a matter of keeping ‘Byrd’ upright and awake through an entire hearing.

He is my least favorite Muppet.

I think it is because he is not very lifelike.
