We’ve had three years unlike any others in our lives in terms of loss of wealth, the loss of opportunity, the lonely sinking feeling that our country was, through one malfeasance or another, and another, was graduallly wrecking itself out of being a Great Power, on its way to a second-rate country and eventually a horrible place to live, a place where even Noam Chomsky can’t beg for mercy.

But Christmas was wonderful and that’s all because of my family and in particular my Mom, who made Christmas what it was supposed to be about and resisted spending too much money even though she was brought up to love lavish Christmastimes.

We spent very little this Christmas on each other and instead spent money on our customers and our potential business contacts. We have a weakness for Gene Wilder in our family so we always watch “The Frisco Kid” or have it on in the background during Christmas. Then we watched Charles Bronson’s “The Mechanic” which is a change this year from the usual feel-good movies about penguins and golden retrievers.

Am I the only person who sees an issue with the 60 day tax cut that was pioneered by Sen Reid and Mitch McConnell and that the provision in the bill that gives 60 days to act on the Keystone Pipeline may be interrelated?

Is it possible this is a way for Obama not to act on Keystone since they have to do another bill anyway?

I have not read the bill and I am not a lawyer, so I am just curious.

Read into it what you will, but last week he said he planned on 44 stops before the caucus, now its down to 22. It could be because his humbers are dropping. Or because of the VA fiasco, and his people are trying to spend time shoring up other states and getting their ducks in a row. Or because he’s seeing a dip nationwide in his support. Whatever the case he’s not dismissing Iowa, but he’s scaling back big time.

If Ron Paul wins Iowa, this would really hurt the GOP because he will garner a lot of press and people will believe the GOP is moving toward his views.
