New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is "Really Busy" and Can't Campaign with Trump

So Donald Trump held a raucous rally in Albuquerque, NM yesterday, but one New Mexico Republican was, um, “unable” to attend: governor Susana Martinez. Her stated excuse was that she was too busy being awesome and was involved in time consuming tasks like announcing new jobs. Not kidding.

Martinez, who has been openly critical of some of Trump’s policies and remarks on immigration, told local reporters Monday that she is “really busy” and will skip Trump’s rally in Albuquerque.
“I’m the governor of New Mexico and I’m really focused on what’s going on here in New Mexico — just like the announcement we just did with 100 new high-tech and research jobs, improving the education for our kids, another job announcement tomorrow. Those are the things that I’m concentrating on and I’m going to keep concentrating on,” Martinez told reporters, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

As the kids say, LOL. This is as absolutely transparent as Martinez could possibly afford to be without drawing open attention to the fact that she doesn’t want to be seen in the same zip code as Donald Trump, much less on stage with him. Whatever you want to say about Martinez, she clearly understands the principle of clearing the probable blast radius, which is something other Republicans are likely to learn this November, to their dismay.
