Who draws the short straw to fall on their sword.

Obama or Congressional Dems.

Listening to talk radio, Fox News, and the news in general, it appears that the Democrats are perilously close to having to make that decision.

The question is which way is this going to go.  Will the progressives, allow their dream candidate in Obama to go down in flames in 2012, or are they willing to sacrifice the 2010 congressional dems like a master chess player will sacrifice a queen to leave the opening for a rook-bishop combination attack for a checkmate?

My initial thoughts on this subject have always been that the liberals wanted to be able to claim the mantle of having the first African-American president come from their ranks, and then once he was shown as a complete failure they would let him fall to the wayside and then make sure that they used the tools of the NAACP, media, etc. to make sure that there would be no way in hell that if the GOP ran an African-American candidate, that they would be elected.  The terms of sellout, race-traitor, Uncle Tom, or other disparaging terms used against African-American conservatives would be used, combined with the ginning up of mistrust amongst some of the racist fringe on both sides of the political spectrum would make sure that even if the black candidate was the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan he/she would never be elected.

However, looking at things recently however, I am starting to get the feeling that Obama is the king on the chessboard, that needs to be protected at all costs, therefore, the progressives would take the defeat in 2010, let Obama have to compromise with a GOP until 2012, then make Obama out to be the only thing standing between the evil GOP and the American people, and then attempt to use the 2012 elections to get more of their type of Democrat elected as well as get Obama reelected.

Now I am hearing some conspiracies such as Hillary taking another shot in 2012, leading to probably a very bloody primary, and if Hillary did win, then their would be a comfort level from the American public because at least she is not as “radical” as Obama was, especially since the Obamacare reforms are already passed, there would be no look at what she wanted to do when her and Bill were running the show back in the 90′s.

So I guess in thinking out loud, I am trying to get into the twisted mind of an Alynskyite of what the true strategy is so that they don’t lose the gains that they seem to made in 2006 and 2008.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

But then so are your other thoughts. Obama’s failures are piling up and his most avid fanatics in the media are cooling towards him but still want the progressive agenda pushed at all costs. They’re quite willing to sacrifice Obama for the “cause.” However, they can’t tip their hand on that too soon. I suppose you could call it a “shifting” chessboard at that point, where the pieces interchange functions.

Consider the talk of a one term presidency and other things that are happening.

The liberals complicate things by design. It’s like untangling a spider web that was made by a number of spiders simultaneously.I believe there is a communal colony of spiders who do that in some park or other, which I don’t really remember the details of.

I doubt even those who built it can unravel it at this point, given their general incompetence in practical application typically haunts the Democrats for all their lofty speeches and blaming everybody else.

Also consider the race card no longer has the desired affect on the people who matter, including black conservatives who have become more outspoken and less afraid than any other time in history. That’s something we can be thankful for if not much else. Only those who are long in the habit of appeasing and calling it compromise still cower at the word.

As for that spiderweb, I’d just as soon take a pair of scissors to it and toss it in the fireplace. Making them start over would please me to no end.

But, I see it around my area everyday, no matter how bad the screwups come from congress or Obama, you just can’t tell someone who is just happy to have a black man as president, that he is screwing the pooch. They don’t want to hear it, and they will tell me that I am right that the Pelosi’s and Reid’s of the world are complete scumbags. But the default position in their mind is he is trying to make changes, but “Washington” is screwed up.

They want it so bad, they can’t see what it has done to the country as whole and likely won’t. I can understand that but at some point it will sink in. Don’t give up hope, okay?

Oh, I forgot to recc earlier came back to do that and here there was a reply. :-)

just to provide some anecdotal hope, there are plenty of people in my area including more African Americans than would seem likely for the SE US, who were saying a year ago that it was dumber than dirt to consider passing a high-dollar healthcare bill when the economy stinks.

At the time, I thought they sounded more like conservatives than liberals. I started calling them “closet conservatives”.

Now, a year later, they are beginning to make their voices heard. They couldn’t care less about the color of the man’s skin.

They may not be ready to vote against the party, but they may be ready to NOT vote for the policies.

    Rumors:

    * Hillary takes Biden’s spot on 2012 ticket, establishing herself for 2016.
    * Dems lose House, keep Senate (not by much), spend next two years blaming GOP on gridlock, bad unemployment, catastrophes.

I wouldn’t leave anything beyond their machinations.
