Not the Democratic Party of Your Fathers

Not the Democratic Party of Your Fathers!

-by Scott Rohter, August 2011

Remember a few years ago when many prominent Democrats in the media made a big deal about referring to their Party as the Democratic Party? They insisted on correcting anyone who called them the Democrat Party! Big Deal you say! It’s just two little letters. It’s such a small point! But maybe it isn’t. Have you noticed how radically different the Democratic Party is today, than it used to be? The Democratic Party of today is not the same Democratic Party of your fathers. This focus on their name represented more than just symbolism and semantics. It represents a complete makeover! There aren’t any more Democrats left like John Kennedy, John Connally, Zel Miller, or even Joe Lieberman. Democrats like Kennedy and Connally don’t exist anymore! Zel Miller retired, and Joe Lieberman became an independent. Even Ronald Regan said that he used to be a Democrat, but he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left him! Yep, they keep moving farther to the left, and they just don’t make good Democrats like they used to! All we have left are the Barney Frank’s of the world, the Nancy Pelosi’s of the world, and the Harry Reid’s of the world! And that’s not to mention the worst apple of the whole bunch, Barack Hussein Obama!

The change in the Democratic Party, then and now, is so comprehensive and so drastic that it definitely required a new marketing plan! Thus, the focus on branding and name recognition, and attention to little details to go along with their new Socialist identity, and their renewed commitment to their agenda! And their goals are so drastically different than the goals of their predecessors, the Democrats of old, that it is no longer acceptable to refer to their Party as the Democrat Party!

Patriotism is actively discouraged by the Democratic Party of today! The concept of the world as a ‘global village’ is what is really important! They celebrate authors like Noam Chomsky, a self-professed Socialist, Alvin Toffler, a ‘New-Worlder’ and Fareed Zakaria, someone who would like to shred the US Constitution! Our Constitution is too provincial, and old fashioned for them! They say it is completely inadequate for the times we live in. According to them it needs to be updated and modernized to fit today’s world!

National sovereignty is an obsolete idea too. It must be replaced with a sense of belonging to the world, the ‘New World!’ It must be relinquished to a world governing body like the United Nations they claim, in order to advance the cause of world peace. (By the way, you don’t get world peace by surrendering your national sovereignty, you get tyranny instead! You get peace by being considerate of your neighbors, and that goes for countries too!)

“The Federal Debt Ceiling is an anachronism”, our former Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin said. “It should be eliminated! It keeps getting in the way!” Well I guess we know where he stands on that issue, don’t we? By the way, he is now the President of the Council on Foreign Relations, which is one of the leading advocates of the so called ‘New World Order.’ “The right of the people to keep and bear arms,” which is guaranteed by the Second Amendment is completely unnecessary! We don’t need to defend ourselves anymore. The US Government will protect us and see to that! There is no aspect of our modern lives that the US Government doesn’t have the right to intervene in and regulate! There is no part of our private lives that is immune from the Federal Government any more! This is the brave new world that is envisioned by the Democratic Party of today! It is the world that they are actively working for, and eagerly hoping to attain, and it is a world view that we have to take very seriously

The thing you have to remember, is that ‘LEFT’ and ‘RIGHT’ have no attachement to ‘big’ or ‘small’ government – or to ‘freedom’ vs ‘authority’ when viewed over time.

In the beginning, the Federalists were Conservative/Right, and the Democratic-Republicans were Liberal/Left.

      Why?

To start, America was a left-wing nation when we got started – but only because the hard-right conservative ideology of the day was oligarchic monarchism, as practiced by Britain.

The Anti-Federalist/Democratic-Republican ideology of a free people working the land, mostly un-governed, was the radical-leftist ideology of the day – essentially it was to the status-quo what Communism was to Capitalist Republicanism was in the 1950s.

Democratic Republicans were anti-bank, anti-development, and most were farmers. There was a heavy bias toward agriculture, and a belief that good men worked the fields with their hands (or had their slaves do it for them), and there was something morally repulsive about manufacturing & banking (largely out of the fact that most farmers spent their entire lives in debt to one bank or another – Jefferson himself died bankrupt).

Further evidence of radicalism on the D-R side, was their desire to intervene in the French Revolution, in support of the revolutionary government…

The Federalist ideology, combining nationalism with industrialization & effective centralized government (it was very much a ‘some government vs no government’ thing back then – ‘Big’ government wasn’t on anyone’s mind), was the more conservative of the two on the ‘Monarchisim = Right, Republicanisim = Left’ scale of the day – but still well to the left of anything in Europe at the time.

Andrew Jackson (another FARMER. Are we seeing a pattern here, with Presidents) further inflamed the Democrat’s populisim – his crusade against the financial industry of the day, in the name of ‘the hard working common people’ cemented the Democratic Party as an anti-capitalist, anti-business entity, and essentially gave birth to today’s Democrats…

It just took them until now to ‘grow up’ into the full fledged socialists they were always going to be…

(It should be noted that of our worst, most populist, anti-business Democratic Presidents, most were farmers (Jefferson, Jackson, Carter – just to start)… Obama is perhaps the first truly terrible Democrat who was not.
