MEMBER DIARY

Forget the Nay-sayers: Perry IS popular in S.C.

PLEASE do not let anyone tell you that South Carolina’s voters have written Gov. Perry off.

Since Wednesday evening, I have called almost two hundred South Carolinians and only about ten said they would not support Rick Perry; one of them was a democrat, so go figure! Everyone else was either very receptive or already voting for Gov. Perry.  My favorite conversation was with a sweet little lady in her golden years. After I told her who I was, she said she had heard about Gov. Perry but “didn’t know anything about him”. I told her that he is the governor of Texas and all about his record. The first question she asked me was, “Well, is he a Christian?” “Yes, ma’am” I said. Then she wanted to know if he had been married more than once. “No, ma’am” I said, and I proceeded to tell her how he met his wife, Anita at a piano recital. I told her that Gov. Perry was pro-life, and she said “Now that does mean that he doesn’t support abortion, right?” “Yes, ma’am” I said again “Gov. Perry is a leading advocate for life.”  ”Good” she said, “because I won’t vote for anyone who supports abortion.”

We talked for at least fifteen minutes, and at the end she said “Well, I think my husband and I are going to go vote. We weren’t going to, but we will now! Thank you for calling; I’m going to go to bed now.” It was about 7:30pm EST. :)  Before I hung up, I told her that she could go to RickPerry.org if she had any questions, she replied “Honey, we don’t have a computer, and if I did, I wouldn’t know how to work it. Anyway, you already answered my questions.”

That was one the best phone calls I’ve ever made for Gov. Perry’s campaign. The great thing though is that so many of the people I talked to really like Gov. Perry.

So, don’t give  up y’all!! Gov. Perry is still in the fight no matter what anyone says!!

Thanks for all you are doing for Gov. Perry! Thank you for your encouraging diary…so needed!
Gov. Perry is a fighter what with Romney, Bush bunch, Cain, Bachmann, LMS and then of course the Conservative black out for Perry….I just keep admiring his optimism and toughing it out. I am praying all the time for the man as it seems he is up against the world. My thoughts are that if God wants him as President He will make it happen no matter how the enemy tries to thwart it.

I reposted the AEI article above because I want people to have a second chance to read it. As it happened, the New York Times had an editorial on same subject on January 14 – first time in four years I have even read a NYT editorial, and I agreed with it.

But, my reposting of the AEI article turned into a comment before I hit “Post Comment”. Miracle?

I came back just to see if anyone noticed my goodbye yesterday.

and I am thanking those who did.

I am trapped by Obama’s real estate fiasco in both Massachusetts and The Bronx, where I am still registered to vote. I went to college here in western Mass 1969-73, and my doctors urged me to get out of an abusive neighbor problem in The Bronx.

The real estate dilemma is complicated. But, I am lucky to still have savings to muddle thru, but after three years of muddling thru, 2012 is the last year.

avagreen, I can NOT move to Texas, or anywhere else, unless I can sell.
I am no longer able to work at much, but I did used to forecast the economy, and did retrain myself to teach history – just happened that New York City no longer wanted any more >50 Jewish school teachers.

In 2004, I wanted to move to North Dakota because they always balance their budget, housing was so affordable, and I am really heat intolerant. Too late now -who knew shale oil would cause such a ND boom? :)

I have been voting since 1972. I have watched the vile anti-war left do their best to destroy the Democratic Party of Harry S. Truman. Took them forty years to destroy it, not a shred of fiscal discipline remains in what has become a political party based on Identity Politics.

But, I have also seen the GOP transform from the Eisenhower model into something that is now even more bizarre to watch because of Ron Paul and his mission to destroy the Federal Reserve Bank. There is a long history about the idea of a Central Bank, and, just because the current incarnation has over-reached is no reason to destroy it.

If Perry or Gingrich do not survive to stop Romney (who is the absolute worst nominee in Republican history at the most perilous time in American history), and Ron and Rand Paul influence the GOP platform, I will not be able to handle the stress of further economic chaos/uncertainty/absence of confidence and absence of leadership.

I am a lost soul, a Jew in a country that never wanted Jews.

If I can get out of my real estate nightmare, I dream of finally making Aliyah to Israel, even if only to be able to kill those who would estroy me given a second to do so.

I know I am rambling – it has been a horrible year.

That is why I retreat to reading history, of wars and places that are distant from America.

Because I no longer recognize America. The last realman standing is Rick Perry, and the last real voice speaking is Newt Gingrich.

but only Rick Perry reminds me of the America I grew up in, and I just hope the people of South Carolina save us from the anarchy and lost confidence that may never be regained whether it is four more years of Obama or four years of Romney.

Just wanted to thank you for caring. No one has been able to help me, and only two real world friends have stood by me these past few years.

My G-d is tough. Not forgiving. Always testing.

I just want to be useful again instead of everyone throwing me out like garbage.

Maybe I’ll show up again at RedState, but only where I know there are like-mainded people.

and that insludes acat – whose comments are always spot on!

I have chronic Post Trauamatic Stress Disorder, from Betrayal of Trust.
Might as well be in Israel, far away from their liberals, where everyone else has the same PTSD.
At least here, you know how many hundreds of millions of people want to throw you into the Mediterranean if they can not slit your throat personally.

was being typed before I read this post. So, I go back now to asking you to stay with us. We need your help. You do have some good friends here who really do understand your postion, and who would never agree that the US doesn’t want the jews. That’s what the libs and the Paultards want everyone to believe. Once we get past the open primary states, Paul will start falling back to his 6% polling. It is the Democrats, and absolutely the worst of them, that are rushing out to support Paul and his isolationism and legal drugs. I only hope that now that we know Rand Paul’s intentions, probably to run for the presidency in 2016, and the organization of rabid mentally ill supporters that will follow him, he must be stopped dead in his tracks now. No one took Paul seriously in 08, and he has largely been ignored for most of this campaign season, until he has started coming in second in polling and taking top positions in the Republican primary when he is not a Republican.

I had agreed with you elsewhere when you said that it is Paul that is splitting the party. I started warning that Paul had been on the move since his 08 campaign. He took his millions from his money bombs and built up an organization that is targeting our youngest and most naive voters. He and his destructive policies, as well as his son Rand who seems to be carrying the same message, must be stopped at all costs. If nothing else they need to be kicked out of the Republican party, which they are determined to change into their sick and disgusting image of utopia.

soul, there is nothing in you except hatred. NO ONE wants to listen to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • avagreen

            before responding.

This person (who I think is a woman ;) …) is obviously sick mentally and spiritually. Not a grain of anything respectable that would cause anyone to respect their candidate (whoever it is) or their opinion. On anything.

A troll for sure. Wanting attention:http://www.flayme.com/troll/#What
I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.

Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.

For trolls, any response is ‘recognition’; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.

Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it’s a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?

Remember that trolls are cowards; they’ll usually post just enough to get an argument going, then sit back and count the responses (Yes, that’s what they do!).

What an empty, empty life one must have to go to all this trouble in exposing their hatred. For everyone, everything apparently.

          • pttx333

know the words to say to comfort others. I know that this he/she/it is a very sick person, but that doesn’t help how I feel about him/her/it. The evil that comes from this one is very obvious, and why the mods don’t do something about it is beyond me. Some trolls are just stupid morons, but this particular one oozes a very, very dark evil side, and his/her/its presence here is like the proverbial apple spoiling the entire barrel.

            Thank you, dear friend!

diagnosis before – PTSD from betrayal – but I can see some who definitely exhibit it. (one of my kin keeps grudges the way normal people keep dogs .. by name, and with lots of affection …)

I’d offer a concern, if I may, that you will find liberals wherever you go… even Israel. I haven’t been, although it is on my “bucket list” – I was a history major, once upon a time, before I decided I liked eating better than the professors I was learning from. Not that you shouldn’t go, but .. you’ll find the same nonsense there that you’re fleeing here.

I’d also offer a condolence – Ron Paul is not taken seriously by much of the party. Either party, for that matter. I’m quite sure Paul Ryan – the Wisconsin rep whose Roadmap put several of his seniors (but not betters…) on notice that they needed to shape up – gets it.

I’m in a similar boat – I’m stuck in the shadow of Chicago until I decide to sell at a loss of value .. eventually inflation will jack the price up to where I need it but .. the value in cheeseburgers is never going to match up. I’m in “making the best of it” mode … fixing the minor annoyances, learning to live with the major ones (Mayor Rahm).

Job-wise, don’t limit yourself to the public schools – look wider. Anyone with classroom experience should be able to find something in corporate training or in private schools, even if you have to (shudder) go to New Jersey. (I’ve been to New Jersey .. and was not impressed)

but we don’t have to let them control our lives. So glad you are back here today — I was a little concerned about you last night and have been praying for you that G-d would bring you helpers and lovers to help turn the tide on these attacks on your life. We love you here and value all of your contributions. You bring a perspective from someone that has left the enemies camp and have proven your bonafide potential to become a solid conservative by your wise insight into why you support Perry. Thanks, again for all you contribute.

I am phone banking in SC. and not having a lot of success reaching people on Sat. morning. What time are you and the others calling?

Thanks for this update and Godspeed to the ones who are taking vacation to actually be in SC and the others who are phone banking.

          • liberty17

I call between the hours of 5 pm and about a 8:45 pm. If I don’t get an answer, I call back once at a different time. I also found out that a lot of older people are at home during the afternoon. Hope this helps, and thank you for all your hard work.

            HERE I COME!!!!!!

        • lizzie

my health is so bad, I can not even work two afternoons a week.

not even to tutor, or work on curriculum development – I was really goog at that but ran into the liberal multi-culturalism wall with that.

really have to sign off. but, am still posting commnets in disqus as USNK2 to give Rick Perry a boost in SC.

just, have to get offline. and drive back to The Bronx tomorrow to try to figure out how to sell it (now four years of no sale going thru) as well as now having to sell in Massachusetts as soon as spring comes.

I have two priorities in life:
          1) protecting my credit score, and
          2) living independently, which is a real challenge when I go postal, which is too often for the past year. That is why I went to a new doctor last Tuesday, and he made it so much worse…

anyone reading this – about Israel and their liberals?
meh – those liberals are like 5%, and all want to live in Tel Aviv.

I am too heat intolerant to live anywhere except the Golan Heights or Ariel in Samaria, which has more appeal because then I would be with the Avigdor Lieberman (Ysrael Beitenu) secular nationalists, and the MK Danon-Greater Israel Likudniks.

Of course, it is now so difficult healthwise to drive 170 miles to The bronx that I can only dream of being able to ever get on an airplane again.

I can ignore Obama. Romney actually triggers a new PTSD trauma every time he appears on tv.

I want to see more “Mitt Fits” next two debates.

I want to see his glass jaw shatter into a million pieces so that his TEMPERAMENT becomes the real issue.

          • acat

If it’s low enough, you’ll sell. If it’s not, you won’t. Simple.

Find a realtor you trust, and ask “What should I ask?”. Don’t hedge, don’t offer *any* numbers, don’t talk about what you have in the place. “What should I ask?”.

If you can live with the number, then sell. If you can’t, then you may want to look at renting the place out, if possible, and seeing if you can survive on the percentage left after a management firm takes their bite.

            Sorry.

            Mew

          • ceili_dancer

A good realtor will know what the market price is for a home. They should have a CMA available and visit your property to gauge the actual value for that property individually. I would just caution you Lizzie that some agents will over price just to get the listing and then talk you down on price during the time on market. If you have sufficient equity and can live with owning the properties I’d rent for the short period. There was a great article in September on CNN/Money’s website talking about the opportunities for owning income properties. With the amount of short sales and foreclosures, people still need to live somewhere in the interim period before they are able to qualify for a mortgage.
If you have a chance, look at San Diego, even though it’s a “desert” climate the ocean clears out most of the high temperature. It usually ranges in the low 70′s during the summer and high 50′s during the winter.
            Good luck anyway you choose.

You know as well as I do is that this is your depression talking. You certainly have a right to be depressed with all that’s gone on, but this is still your depression talking.
Crap! You’re young enough still to have a life. Wish you could come live with me and my husband (yes, I know this is completely out of my mind to suggest it…….just sayin’).

I have a 2500+ sq ft home, plenty of room. You could just PTSD here, go to school at the local community colleges (cheaper costs, you already know)…. or trade schools in the area with those school loans that are still available.

avagreen: truly appreciate your concrete offer of help.
My PTSD Betrayal of Trust was being downsized out of Nabisco (after I won a national contest for economic forecasting), and being replaced by a younger man who then got three new hires My envious insecure boss did not like Jews, and used the LBO that meant 10% fired every Christmas to fake the “profit line”. Took him 8 years to nail me. After I won that national contest, that effing bully wrote in my performance review that I “was an embarrassment to the company” without mentioning the award that got Corporate Communications all excited about having an economic guru in Nabisco.

I believed in Nabisco. Human Resources knew what my boss was doing – he was doing same to three other people (one of them was so traumatized that he had already died). HR just could not stop my boss, even with one dead body from a falsified performance appraisal.

There was big protest about me, and the CEO was incensed. But, they still let that evil boss to stay in his job until his youngest son graduated from college, and then he was forced to retire..

and appreciate all the others here who offer moral support.

I need time off from this in order to 1) recover from the doctor trauma last Tuesday, and 2) figure out how to get out of my real estate trap.

I keep Marcus Luttrell’s NEVER QUIT in plain sight.

yes, depression is anger turned inwards, but, a struggle to NOT take my gun and turn this anger OUTWARD. I have NO desire to spend one second in prison :)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a very dangerous condition. Not just vets, but at least they have more services available.

Mostly, I just self-isolate, to avoid trauma triggers, and that gets harder and harder because it just seems America encourages lying and cheating. Doctors, lawyers (especially lawyers), contractors, – most Americans have succumbed to the idea that you no longer have to do what you say you are going to do.

            The Colbert Report

The funny thing is while this ad is obviously intentionally over-the-top, I could see people getting a negative view of Mitt from this ad and it affecting their vote. And what’s Mitt going to do about it? If he complains he’ll come across as a humorless killjoy.

      • pttx333

am to see your post! My heart breaks for you and your situation. Do not ever think you don’t have friends who will stand with you, because you do. I, too, have suffered betrayal, and it really did a number on me that will be with me until I die. But, ya know what? The “bastids” are not gonna beat me, and neither will they beat you!

A little background here, if it will help you. I was brought up in the Southern Baptist faith and, though I am not Baptist as an adult, I do live by their teachings and treasure the values I was taught there. I was taught and firmly believe that the Jewish people are God’s chosen people and to deny them is to deny Jesus Christ and God Himself. I cannot begin to fathom what you have lived through, but please remember that for every person who is so filled with their evil hatred of you, there are millions more who love you and who will stand by your side.

I suppose the vast majority of us experience discrimination in some form. Today there is a lot of bias against the “elderly” and, being 71 years old, I have endured it many times. It is a crime to have been blessed to live this long? Is it now trash-heap time for me? Yes, we are living in a wicked world today, but I will fight the evil with my very last breath! I may be 71, but I’m not helpless – I’m too bull-headed to let the evildoers win! Ain’t happenin’ – as I say in my Texas speak.

Miz Lizzie, I will stand by you, with you and defend you in any way that I can. I will treasure your friendship and be thankful for your knowledge you so graciously share with us, but mainly for your kind soul.

God bless you, dear lady – I will be here any time you can come to visit.

for staying with us in the good fight. Hope you had a restful night, and woke up refreshed and ready to hit it again for another day.

I’ve sworn off Fox, since they swore off Perry. Never thought I would be watching CNN. The Obama love fest gets a little thick at times, but it beats the unspoken Romney love fest on Fox. Most of this morning, many of the hosts are talking about the Romney Bain issue. If anyone thinks what Perry said about Romney’s Bain activities were harsh, they need to start listening to the leftists who are going after him very very hard and heavy. One Obama campaign person has called Romney a “corporate raider.” There was one guy on the Howard Kurtz show that brutalized Romney on his jobs killing record as a Bain Exec.

The main jist against Romney by the libs has been his job killing record, and his running companies into bankruptcy after stripping them of their capital. Axelrod has been brutal also. Why do I bring this up? Because Perry and Newt are so correct when they say that Romney is going to be destroyed by the libs over his Bain record. If he can’t take the beating now, and just keeps depending on saying that anyone who attacks his record is against capitalism and the free market, is no solid defense. That defense will never cut it against the libs who deal in lies and cheating.

Thanks again lizzie for not leaving us.

      • lizzie

and no one is lying or cheating about this. The dilemma is that most Americans DO somewhat know the difference between Venture Capitalism (when Bain started Staples)and Private Equity guys who used Leveraged Buyouts (when Bain stripped assets and KKR paid too much for RJRNabisco using other people’s money), and some Private Equity guys who actually invest to save undervalued and/or mismanaged companies – like Forstmann did with Gulfstream, and Warren Buffet does when he buys a company and makes it more profitable and keeps it for the longterm).

Because tens of millions of us have been direct witnesses to most of these strands of what Romney wants people to believe is 100% Free Market Capitalism.

A true conservative would NEVER accept the technically legal, but totally immoral and unethical strand of Private Equity Leveraged Buyouts, whose ONLY objective was to make their investors rich, while taking PE guys profits in “consulting fees” “management fees” and “dividends” from the debt.

Romney is the guy who fired you.
        Romney was a failed governor.

and, I might add, I find it disgusting that Mr. Romney would drag Mrs. Ann Romney into this when Ann Romney is in remission from multiple sclerosis. Those remissions do not always last – I expect someone to re-run The West Wing tv series, where President Bartlett kept his MS a secret and it DID affect his (television) peformance as President.

I also think it terrible that neither Mitt Romney nor any of his five sons even THOUGHT about serving in the military – not even the National Guard.

Do not even get me started about how the Romneys treat their dog Seamus.

        Is Seamus still alive?

Or did he run away to join the Perry family :)

The GOP is handing Obama’s re-election on a silver platter if they nominate Romney, or Santorum for the reasons I have posted elsewhere about using the successful New York 2010 “protecting women’s reproductive rights” strategy. That worked so well that even the GOP nominee for NYState Comptroller lost, and even the New York Times endorsed him because the dems were running a hack with no financial expertise.

With Romney, no one has to lie or cheat – and the GOP will be damaged in ways that may really damage down ticket contests.

As to Ron Paul? even the dems knew how to manage Dennis Kucinich.
The GOP pandering to Ron Paul is truly scary.

btw, Ron Paul decided to go home for the weekend. I did not watch much of last night’s Huckabee Forum because I can only handle listening to Perry and Gingrich.

But, I did catch one 60-year old woman, in the wrap-up, who had asked about what people her age are supposed to do about jobs.
BINGO! NO ONE has EVER noticed that most of the long term unemployed are over 50 because Ageism is still rampant.

Just can not believe articulate people actually believe the Federal reserve Bank should be dismantled.

signing off – have to de-tox from political trauma in order to function.

maybe see y’all after SC votes.

I never thought to get my dogs a luxury box (good for Mitt!) and that is the language of the Left that demonizes voluntary exchanges and property rights.

I’m glad we discovered that Perry and Newt harbored class envy notions last week, before the SC primary, even if was weeks after Perry’s campaign was already dead and Newt’s was on life support.

And so Mitt loved his dog so much that he got it a luxury box!

          • Tbone

I do the same when I have had to ride with an attorney. :-)

Romney’s idea of capitalism is to buy a gun for $50 and mug people for “profits”.

          • aesthete

            Worst comparison ever.

Firing people or shuttering an incompetent business in a free market =/= mugging people

            Unless you’re a socialist, I suppose.

          • Tbone

They don’t Sparky. Bain bought good businesses that were in the unique position of being worth more in asset value than in operating value.

By example, every brand new car is worth more in parts than as a car. That’s why I call Romney Chop Shop Mitt.

The Dems and the MSM are going to dismantle Mitt like ’67 VW.

          • acat

Just curious…. I’d rather be inside the van with the humans.

As for the “corporate raider” bit, please take your own frequently offered advice and dig a little deeper, GC. Are we better off with a candidate who’s weak on jobs as well as health care?

and what bothered one guy the most was the fact that half way through the trip, when the brown strem rolled down the back window, Romney just ever so casually pulled into a gas station, borrowed a hose, washed Seamus, and the vehicle off, put Seamus back up in the wind tunnel and drove on down the road. So now poor Seamus wasn’t only in a wind tunnel, he was soaking wet as well.

I’ll just point out that the most effective commercial in the 2010 Illinois gubernatorial race was from the Dem, Pat Quinn.

Quinn was in a very bad position – strong ties to convicted (and well-coiffed) former Governor Blagojevich, a long history of being a boring Dem apparatchik (until Blago endorsed him for Lt. Gov.), and not terribly popular.

Quinn was able, through this highly deceptive commercial, to significantly change the vote in suburban counties, and won.

Again, to Gamecock’s point, it’s not that Romney is a swinging corporate raider*, it’s that he’s going to have a tougher row to hoe selling himself as “a jobs guy” because he hasn’t *built* a business, he’s only done “restructuring” and “winding down”…. neither noted for adding jobs.

            Mew

          • elayman

And to make it worse, this Seamus incident came up in the first place because Romney bragged about as an example of his superior crisis management skills in a puff piece to a reporter. He obviously thought there was nothing wrong with it, and he thought no one else would think there was anything wrong with it either.

Combine that with the flip-flopping, and you come up with a fake to the core cold, robotic SOB who when it comes to what he will do in a situation is unknown. His emotions leak out in such inappropriate ways when provoked it reminds me of a boy scout on the surface that is doing something very different in private.

          • pttx333

my thoughts are, instead of “His emotions leak out…” try this – “His LACK OF emotions leaks out…” Whaddya think?

          • elayman

His emotional makeup is bizarre – what I can’t stand most is the fake smile that is always plastered across his face even at the most inappropriate moments. Fake smile, fake laugh, fake values, fake positions.

Have you noticed during the debates if a confrontation becomes too heated Mitt will invariably appeal to the moderators for intercession or appeal to the rules of the debate in an attempt to short-circuit an attack? He can’t talk himself out of ANYTHING or even have a halfway open ended conversation with normal people that doesn’t come with a list of formal rules of engagement. One of the candidates needs to get outside his comfort zone because whenever Romney does step out of his tightly circumscribed

          • pttx333

He is a spoiled brat who, obviously, has never been told NO and who has bought anything he wanted – so why not buy the Presidency?

Yes, he has a very fragile glass jaw and gives off the impression of saying “How dare you question your Emperor!” It is mystifying to me what the attraction is for some folks. But I’m not going to beat anyone over the head about it – if they choose him, well … they will be sorry in the final analysis. No difference that I see between him and b.o. being haughty and narcissistic! But … that is just my view of him.

I will stick with Perry to the very end … all the way to the1600 address!

I feel quite certain your dogs never stuck their heads out the window for 12 straight hours and befouled your vehicle. Dogs never befoul their own territory unless they are either (1) terrified or (2) have no other choice.

of the comments! ;-) There was one, though, who said that Seamus probably preferred to be in the carrier on top of the car to being “cooped up with the kids in the car.” WHAT????? Dogs LIVE for their family and would have been in doggie heaven inside the car. And that is another thing that is so heartless – Seamus didn’t understand why he was separated from his family and that alone is traumatized. The sheer torture both physically and emotionally was and is inexcusable.

Yep, this story isn’t going to die. That happened in 1983 and is still around. Wouldn’t have mattered when it happened, the mere fact that it did is the story here.

          • avagreen

I asked him if he were “sick” (which is the excuse he used for putting the dog on top of the car), would he prefer to be straped on top of the stationwagon or inside the stationwagon? For 12 hrs.

            He didn’t answer back.
BTW, I also stated during that time frame, I also had a station wagon… and 4 kids. There was plenty of room for a dog to be in the back. As for as the “luggage” argument, I reported that back then people put THEIR LUGGAGE ON TOP OF THE WAGON (not their dogs!) with a tarp on top to protect from the weather. That was the custom of the day!!

This sob didn’t do any of that. As stated elsewhere: this example and Bain shows he has no internal set of morals. (still collecting $$ from Bain while paying only 15% in taxes…….look at the last sentence of the last article I posted.) ;)

I agree that Santorum cannot be believed when he talks about cutting spending, and I agree that Newt has trust issues, many, many, trust issues. But Rick Perry has the record and the plan. Romney wants to tinker, who would have thought. and for this uplifting diary!

I am from TX and moved to Florida the middle of 2010. My spouse and I supported Rick Perry for 16 years. He is a good and decent man and what this country needs. The other candidates can not touch his record. He can’t get media exposure, and he has been trashed horribly on so called conservative web sites. I correct the information on every one I see. Those of us that believe in him need to keep working and praying. I am waiting to get yard signs here in Florida. I can’t find an office here or number to call. I don’t know who is doing his Florida gig, but they are not doing a good job. I wish Co. West would endorse him. It would certainly make a difference.

  • cheetah2

I have decided that no matter what happens I am keeping the Perry President bumper sticker on my car. He would be the best president, and I think we will regret it if we end up with someone else.
Thanks for your hard work for Governor Perry. I called Iowa for him and it was tough going. I am glad to hear S. Carolina is better.

  • pttx333

be able to find out the information you need regarding FL. You might also do a post on this thread and in the comment/title line write something like “IS ANYONE HERE FROM FLORIDA? I NEED HELP SUPPORTING RICK PERRY.” Something like that … the comment line is what will catch the eye of FL folks on here. I’m sure there’s someone up and running, just gearing up for the primary.

I don’t think there’s been too much endorsing going on lately, and some folks just never endorse anyone. But Col. West would be a good one! He is a good man.

  • tricianc

Thank you also for the encouragement.

I took off a week off work to support Governor Perry. I will be going to South Carolina all week. I will be driving an hour and a half back and forth every day. I don’t mind it a bit.

I’m sure I will be making lots of calls. It’s something I dread. I’ve done it before and didn’t like it. I also have to admit I was worried what kind of reception I’d get making calls for Governor Perry. I believe in him wholeheartedly but don’t know how it looks on the ground there.

Although I dislike doing it, I would anyway for I believe Rick Perry is the one we need, America needs.

It especially helps to know they are more than receptive too. Again, thank you for the encouragement.

  • pttx333

  • http://www.democratsforsale.blogspot.com soonermom

Iowa is one of the worst places to call into of any place if you are Conservative Republican not a liberal one. Found in 2008 that only Steve King’s Congressional district people are friendly when you call even if they are not supporting your candidate.

The south is much better to call — more friendly. Minnesota and Wisconsin are not very nice either along with Illinois. Guess I have lived in OK/TX too long with friendly people to deal with the unfriendliness of some northern areas of the Country and I come from Ohio which was not a good state to call into if you happened to get the counties in the NE.

Praying for the Governor because what he has had to endure at the hands of the establishment with their lies, media blackout, planted stories, etc. which shouldn’t happen to an honorable person like Governor Perry. After what the establishment Romney people have done to Perry, I will never support Romney who doesn’t seem to have any core values and prefers to say what he thinks the voters want. This is one conservative that won’t hold my nose and vote this time. The GOP erstablishment led by Bush 41 and his people along with their puppet at the RNC can take it and shove it. All you have to do is listen to the Bush puppet Sununu to know they are behind all of this trash against the Governor.

  • carolynr

Why. It is so simple. The Democratic Party wants to run against Romney. They have put the pieces of the puzzle in place for over a year now. Do you think OWS was happenstance? It was engineered by the DNC. Rich, little bratty kids that live off Mommy and Daddy’s wealth and they want more of it. Does this sounds like the elitists of the DNC. It does to me.

Well, if Romney is nominated…we will know who gets in for four more years. I read a piece by Thomas Sowell…and the long and short of it was…Obama will be re-elected because the American people don’t understand economics. They don’t. Snipits…soundbites…that is what they hear. I don’t even think the OWS people know that they are, by their protests, fanning the end of America and they will go down with it also.

  • romansdaughter

But my thoughts is that if it ends up Mitt we are going to have 4 more years of Obama. That is why I almost get physically sick thinking about it. I am so glad Newt and Perry brought up the Bain Capital cause you know Obama was going to and this is the main reason he thinks he is so good at getting jobs…when he was Governor of MA…he sure didn’t do a very good job…47th in job creation against Perry number 1 in job creation. What a bunch of fools Americans are.

  • romansdaughter

I thought maybe Huckabee would trash him or something? Did you watch it?

  • annie54

my best one was Saturday morning with a gentleman who seemed quite professiona,l early 50′s. He said he was undecided, so I began asking him what he knew about Rick Perry which opened the door for me to tell him. This time, the script includes many short positive facts that are easy to grab and discuss should the person state that they’re undecided.

He was unbelievably open to everything I said. I eventually told him that I was calling from my home phone and told him the state I live in. I said that I’m calling 200 households because I realize the importance of getting the right person for our nominee who can beat Obama. He expressed his dismay about how Romney is being given to us for our nominee as has been in the past. It was a splendid opportunity (I took full advantage of it!). I told him I had the campaign phone number and the website. He asked for the website. He had not hear Rick speak, so he’ll see videos on the website.

    PURE JOY!

  • westcoastpatriette

Thought I would answer your question since it looks like la’patriette is away at the moment.

I really enjoyed the forum last night and the main reason for that is that the entire forum consisted of people in the audience asking the questions. Each candidate was given approx. twenty minutes (minus commercials) to be questioned alone on the stage. (Paul was not there and I did not hear Huckabee address why.) Huckabee merely played referee to make sure things flowed smoothly although he did praise Perry in an interview after the forum for a great performance.

It was refreshing to allow the people to do all of the questioning and for the most part, they were excellent questions.

The forum will rerun this evening on Fox @ 8:00 eastern.

  • annie54

which was decent of Huck, since he’s for Romney. I watched the entire forum, which I DVRed during the Denver game. Rick really had the audience with him as there was a lot of clapping in agreement. The forum will be shown again tonight.

Rick was relaxed which I thought, put the audience into a more relaxed attitude. Rick showed more passion and excitement than any of the other candidates.

  • http://www.changeforrickperry.org louisianapatriette

Sorry it too me so long to get back to you…I haven’t actually seen the Huckforum but I heard great things about it. I also downloaded the video last night so I’ll be watching it at some point today. Really looking forward to it! Seems to me that they ought to do more of these forums. They seem much more conducive than those “debates” where we find out what the candidates would normally do on a Saturday night.

  • romansdaughter

Yeah I have been at church and down here in Brazil I don’t have a TV. So everything I get is on line. Yeah, those type of forums are so much better. I am glad that Perry did a good job and that Mike Huckabee was fair.

  • westcoastpatriette

I think you can see most (if not all) of the forum on Fox’s website @ www.foxnews.com. Go to Huckabee’s page and he has at least parts of it posted. Good luck and enjoy.

How I wish I would be there with you both. But thanks for your time and committment in helping Gov Perry. Our hearts are with you!

I want to also thank you for your time and commitment in helping Governor Perry win SC.

I wish I could be out on the ground with you but I’m getting ready to have knee surgery and will be out of pocket for the next month. However, I will be out campaigning, even if I have to limp from house to house, in preparation for Super Tuesday here in GA.

    Keep us posted!!

I’m going to look for a contact to make to do the phone calls in SC and FL. I guess I’ll contact Perry.org for the info.

    Begins tomorrow.

on this site. I really hope I’m not forced to vote for Mitt – makes me sick to think about the possibility, especially after reading all of this. Unbelievable list.

I thought Perry looked pretty good on Huckabee this weekend – wonder how many people saw it.

I just came back from SC making calls, knocking on doors, and putting up signs. I am very encouraged by the team and volunteers. I met the famous Colt Smith from Texas.
I will make calls from home this week.
