MEMBER DIARY

A Few Words to My Friends at Red State

I’m editing this diary because…well, the title speaks for itself.  That’s all this was intended to be.  My thanks to everyone who responded.  Hopefully, I’ll be back soon.

May God bless each one of you.  Stay in the fight.

    You’re in my prayers.

I hope you’ll be back soon.

  • Aaron Gardner

    I’ll be praying for you.

    • lineholder

Keep an eye on this for me.

      http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/memo-to-congress-with-deficit-deal-done-time-for-that-pivot-to-jobs/2011/03/03/gIQA4HeanI_blog.html

I’ve been following the force behind it on leftist sites for weeks. The line of thought is “job creation” leads to “better economy” leads to “Obama’s 2nd term”. I know it seems far-fetched for them to try to use mfg. as a modern day WPA, but they’re serious about this. If Keynesianism is dead, then “managed capitalism” is the next approach. Forewarned is forearmed on our side.

Gotta go before my family takes my computer away from me.

for such a touching way to let us know you may be gone from RS for a while. It brought tears to my eyes for many reasons as I can relate in many ways–especially being a newcomer to the realm of politics after Obama was elected.

I also am a relative newcomer to the nuts and bolts of politics and constantly battle the despair that you described so it is refreshing to hear you empathize with those who find it all too insane to cope with.

I will miss you because in the short time that I have been coming to RS, (just a few months) I have grown to respect your comments and try to read whatever you write.

We will be praying for you and hope you can stop by from time to time to keep us posted on your progress. God bless you and your family.

The one thing I always took away from your posts here at RS is that no matter how frustrating the political games get, you have always been able to see the sunshine at the end of the tunnel with your positive attitude. As hard as it may seem you will need to double down on the positive attitude while you fight whatever your health issues are. Don’t give in, beat the daylights out of those health issues, open the door, and kick them to the curb.

I look forward to seeing you back as soon as you are well again.

We look forward to when you can re-join the fight.

I first considered a “friend” here at redstate, not just a fellow commenter. Often, when I didn’t quite know how to put what I was thinking into words, you did just that, and more eloquently to boot. We are kindred spirits, and I will miss you.

You and your family will be in my prayers. I hope you will consider giving us an update from time to time if you’re up to it. My email is warbington3@ att dot net if you ever need anything from your conservative sister in Alabama, or if you ever just need to vent.

You and your family will be in my prayers, and in the meantime…

“The LORD bless you, and keep you; The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.? Numbers 6:24-26

I’m sad to hear this news. Popped in and feel blessed that I came across it as I did because I’d like to wish you well.

Please remember that even though you’ll be on retreat, you can still have an impact on “converting” people wherever you are — beginning with your own family (see any stragglers?) and your extended family, extending outward. Don’t forget the nurses and doctors who will be tending you — anyone who crosses your threshold to visit you.

Think ripple effect. Think of your magnetic online charm “Live!”

I say our families can never be conservative enough.

There’s too much to cover and the progressives are hitting every single aspect of our society — and so the discussions cannot end.

They shouldn’t end. And — well, they have to be intermingled with normal, everyday “talk,” otherwise we discredit ourselves as some sort of nutsos.

    So, yes, it never ends.

Be ever hopeful. Just because people are not speaking it or picketing it doesn’t mean that they’re weak and lackadaisical. Remember, this too is the nature of American independence: free thought. So, no .. we don’t know what people are thinking, what their concerns are, at all times. Be hopeful. If you don’t feel it — consider a prayer.

But the people we can impact the most? Those immediately surrounding us.

Because I can sound convincing to you or to others does not ensure a conservative vote somewhere across the country.

This is why the talk never ends, even where you are and will be, away from the internet.

My prayers are with you.. God be with you, always.

    And God bless America.

    -Veronica

Best wishes on your health issue and hope to see you back soon!

  • Victor_Purinton

I spent a week in Mass General last year with a very serious issue. I’m better now, with a new sense of priorities. Here’s to your future – long, healthy and happy!

  • Goldwater_Conservative

I loved the way you think, you have a great head on your shoulders and that is rare these days.

Will be praying for you and remember that no matter what the outcome is, HE is in conrol. Thats my favorite stress reliever.

  • johnconradarens

Yes, there are so many pressing issues that seem so important, but when a lump discovered taking a shower shows up, or a simple tumble off a ladder happens, or what you thought was a cold turns into something worse, these issues recede, and life itself looms large.

Enjoy the days as they come. Revel in the mild mornings. Soak in the majesty of a summer thunderstorm.

    God Bless you mightily, Lineholder.

  • CMaree

“We also have to try to present to people the positive side of conservatism, i.e. why conservatism is the better choice to make in the long run, how it can help our nation, how it can help our families, how it allows us to help ourselves rather than being dependent on government for our futures, how it empowers the individual rather than enabling big government, etc.”

I pray we who remain can be positively proactive.
Prayers that God bring you great healing and encouragement for your family as well.
    God bless.

I will miss your wisdom and insight while you are away. In the short time I have been here you have become one of the posters that I value.
You and your family are in my prayers. Your positive attitude should speed your recovery. I will look forward to your return!

I understand how frustrating and stressful politics can be. Most of us here have either yelled or wanted to yell at the tv or radio over some stupidity out of Washington at one point or more.

It certainly doesn’t help that we are called crazy or extremists for wanting the government to do stuff like balance the budget or control its borders. Only children can more frustrating than politicians and you can’t put a politician over ones knee.

  • Doc Holliday

It seems like you have a a good plan and have your priorities right. Politics is important, but not that important. Too many get really stirred up and lose their priorities and balance, I know it happens to me.

Prayers for you and your family :)

  • runner12

When I read this, my heart broke. I am praying for complete healing and for both you and your family at this time. I will miss your insight and wisdom.

You are strong woman with great faith and I look forward to seeing you back here!

  • kowalski

I’ve blinked in and out of being involved with politics several times in the past 5-6 years for a lot of the reasons you state. Please take care of your health and come back as soon as you feel ready.

Someone on the Hill should print out a copy of this post and hand it to Joe Biden, to remind him of how ashamed of himself he should be. He just compared the Tea Party to terrorists.

It’s a sad day in our country when a petulant Vice President with a history of mouthing off in front of open microphones compares people like you (and I, whether you’re directly affiliated with the Tea Party or not) who are working as hard as we can through the political process for something we believe in – terrorists. What a sick thing for the Vice President to say. Meanwhile, the Left had its protestors running wild in the House chamber this afternoon, actively preventing the House of Representatives from doing business.

Get well and be well, and good luck.

    • rightwingmom52

      • kowalski

I just find it unbelievable that the Vice President can sit there and compare people who are trying to do what their constituents EXPRESSLY elected them to do, through the political process, in tough races across this country, legitimately fought and legitimately won, exercising the will of the people who duly elected them, who emailed and called and blogged and tweeted and facebooked to IMPLORE them to do just that, are somehow even in the same universe as terrorists.

I hope the Vice President misspoke. I really do. Politico attributes Biden’s statement to other people who were “in the room.” Maybe they misheard, and I hope that’s the case.

      • lineholder

I know you mean well, but the truth being told, I’m just not up to having my life put out there that way right now.

        • kowalski

I should have phrased it as a request myself. So RWM52, please do what the author wants.

I’m sure Biden’s staff read Redstate, at least part of the time, at lunch from a WiFi hotspot at Starbucks or something to make sure it doesn’t show up as “inside the office surfing.” Or at least, maybe one of the people “in the room” do.

          • kowalski

Now according to Politico after hearing from Biden’s staff, and in an interview with CBS, Biden says he didn’t say it. Other people might have said it, but he didn’t.

OK, well there’s been a lot of heated rhetoric. Heck, I once photoshopped a picture of Joe Biden’s “short bus” with the inspiration of the Onion’s article: “Developmentally Disabled Senator Wants to be Treated Like Any Other Lawmaker.” I hope he laughed at it.

            http://www.theonion.com/articles/developmentally-disabled-senator-wants-to-be-treat,232/

I’m willing to take Biden at his word that he didn’t say it and let the subject drop and just ascribe it all to overheated rhetoric and passion and all that.

It’s appropriate, I think, that we give each other the benefit of the doubt. Let’s try harder not to use charged words like that referring to each other, much less to people who are working within the system through their duly-elected representatives.

          • SoFiMil

            Thank you.

          • kowalski

If we all keep thinking on this level we’re not going to get the big problems solved. The bottom line is that it’s a shame these kinds of terms are being used – by anyone who is using them or has used them. I can forgive insults, even egregious insults – as long as I know they were said in haste and in the heat of passion, which I think these were. I’ve been “b***ed out” a few times in my life and given it back – with intelligent people – and any real progress only comes when people cool off and come back to their senses, which always requires a bit of forgiveness.

Now please — everyone — go watch some episodes of Frasier on YouTube. Then come back tomorrow and discuss political parties and their membership in the context of the debt ceiling negotiations.

One of my favorite episodes is Daphne Does Dinne. Awesome from start to finish.

Even if we have reason to be. All in all, we are richly blessed. Of course, that doesn’t mean we stop fighting. Happy to take a few hours off though.

          Get well soon.

If it’s any comfort, I got started at Redstate when I was laid up recovering from prostate cancer surgery. In a bizarre way, coming here and communing with like-minded political animals can be cathartic….

But I will put these matters before the Lord and try to trust in his leading.

    • Ausonius

Philosopher Albert Jay Nock wrote an essay 70 + years ago called “Isaiah’s Job” wherein he talks about a group whom he called The Remnant.

The Remnant are those who keep on fighting after the majority has caused a societal collapse through sloth or stupidity or both. The Remnant forms the basis for a rise of society in the future: they preserve the best and keep it alive, if only among other members of The Remnant.

      To quote Nock directly:

“In any given society the Remnant are always so largely an unknown quantity. … Two things you do know, and no more: First, that they exist; second, that they will find you. Except for these two certainties, working for the Remnant means working in impenetrable darkness; and this, I should say, is just the condition calculated most effectively to pique the interest of any prophet who is properly gifted with the imagination, insight and intellectual curiosity necessary to a successful pursuit of his trade.”

      Best Wishes!

“Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup, and you have made my lot secure.”

–A deeply personal favorite of mine.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, lineholder. The fact is, we are all terminal; sometimes, though, the vaneer of health and strength becomes perilously thin, and that fact becomes terrifyingly clear. Thankfully, you seem resolute and strong in the face of this turn of events– I pray it is so.

PLEASE, PLEASE occasionally check in, and let us know how you are doing. You and a tremendous blessing, and a inspiration to us all.

    …and prayers.

I missed your original post, so I have no idea of the nature of your problem, other than (judging from the comments) that it must be health-related. Please know that your sweet spirit, intelligence, energy and optimism have made you one of my role models.

May the Lord hold you close and give you His peace and healing.

  • Green_Lantern

I am not far from you here in Wake Forest, kindred soul. If there is the slightest kindness my family and I can do for you, please let me know.

And make that decision, Bro. Get it done.

    Love you,
