Star Parker Speaks on Getting Government Out of Welfare

The video below is an interview that was recently conducted with Star Parker on the topic of why and how government’s influence in welfare is doing more harm than good.

For those who may not be familiar with Ms. Parker, here’s the following information provided at the website CURE:

Star Parker is the founder and president of CURE, the Center for Urban Renewal   Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit think tank which promotes market based public policy to fight poverty.
Before involvement in social activism, Star Parker had seven years of first-hand experience in the grip of welfare dependency. Now, as a social policy consultant, Star is bringing new energy to policy discussions on how to transition America’s poor from government dependency.

She is a sought after expert on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC and for national radio, television, and print interviews, nationwide.

Star has a BS degree in Marketing and Business from Woodbury University and has received numerous awards and commendations for her work on public policy issues. She consults with Republican legislators on numerous urban issues, lectures on anti-poverty initiatives at more than 180 colleges and universities and serves on advisory boards for several national organizations.

I always enjoy hearing Ms. Parker’s viewpoint on the issues.  The interview below is no exception.

It is as if she picked up the wand where actor/comedian Bill Cosby left off. Cosby, also (used to) publicly speak out about how the nanny state was destructive to the economy and families.

I can’t think of any other black people on our side of the fence except of course for Herman Cain.

They are very admirable IMO for speaking the truth publicly.

BTW, Lineholder, your video is a blank, but I am familiar with Star anyway,

She’s a smart, brave young lady. Keep up the good work Star !!!

Lloyd Marcus is well-known in tea party circles as an activist. He authored the book, “Confessions of a Black Conservative.” I haven’t read his book, but I’ve heard him speak. He’s a pretty good singer, too. There’s some video of him singing for the tea party on youtube. His website is here.

Another black convert to conservatism is K. Carl Smith (from Alabama), founder of the Frederick Douglass Republicans. He’s also involved with the tea party and is actively recruiting the black community to conservatism. His book is Frederick Douglass Republicans. His website is here.

Then there’s Anita Moncrief, Acorn whistle blower turned activist. Also has Alabama connections. She’s training groups on how to combat and expose voter fraud and getting out the vote. Her site is
      here.

Finally, the other night at our local tea party meeting, we heard Darius Foster speak. Darius is the founder and chairman of the Alabama Minority GOP, the first of its kind in the country to have a vote with a state GOP. Take a look at their page here.

Darius said that Reince Priebus had called and asked him how he was being so successful at recruiting blacks to his group. His answer was that he delivers a positive message. He doesn’t attack Obama and the liberals, but is winning them over by showing them how conservatism works for the individual and/or their families. He’s thinking of running for office, and I see him as a rising star.

Slowly but surely, the conservative message is reaching the black community.
