Occupy Wall Street Hooligans Bring Socialist Movement to San Diego October 7

It was brought to my attention that some here in San Diego–namely socialists and communists–are bringing the “Occupy Wall Street” movement to San Diego, California, this October 7th,2011.

Here is a video about the Occupy San Diego gathering:

This movement aims to overthrow capitalism in exchange for some “beautiful” alternative. No matter how many times we probe these people, they fail to offer an alternative to capitalism…

Undoubtedly, these hypocrites reap the benefits of capitalism and simultaneously want to destroy it. (Irony much?) Instead, they look to socialism for an answer. Both socialism and its ugly cousin communism are defined by collective farms, redistribution of wealth, poverty, pogroms, and nonexistent human rights.  Is this the alternative they seek?

The corporatists in Wall Street–who are sympathetic to crony capitalism, not free market enterprise–are to blame for our nation’s financial woes. Interestingly enough, these protesters have no complaints about them or their ties to the Obama Administration. Nevertheless, these Occupy Wall Street hooligans routinely blame capitalism  for their problems.

Why do people continue to dismiss history? Look at Nazi Germany, the former USSR, Vietnam, Cuba, and similar nations. Communism and socialism do not work. They reduce(d) people to human debris.

My parents endured communism and later escaped the former USSR. They came here to escape brutal conditions found in their former homeland. My mom–a devout Catholic–could not openly practice her religion. Similarly, my dad was subjugated to institutionalized anti-Semitism. Capitalism in America was the only system that could ensure their freedom.

The question beckons: if communism and socialism were so beautiful, why did my parents and other Soviet refuseniks/political refugees leave?

People need to think twice about socialism before demanding it here in America. Pay attention to the Obama Administration’s socialist programs being shoved down our throats.

UC Berkeley unjustly berates College Republicans over affirmative action bake sale

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” –Winston Churchill

It takes immense courage to be a conservative activist, especially a conservative activist at an American university.

Expect to make enemies, offend campus leftists, and face scrutiny. Some are lucky to find their niche and succeed, while others have to entirely fend for themselves. Nevertheless, touting conservatism on campus allows one to develop a thick skin and be fearless.

To dispel doubts about what transpires at universities—many of which are funded by tax dollars—take these instances into account.

Northern Arizona University’s conservative club could not hand out flags and correspondent fliers when commemorating the tenth anniversary of 9-11.

University of Maryland—Baltimore County’s conservative group was finally approved after members toiled with campus bureaucracy.

Here at UC-San Diego, political correctness runs rampant–producing instances of abridgement to free speech and anti-Semitism.

There are countless examples of this hostility seen at universities nationwide. This column will examine recent uproar at UC Berkeley over an affirmative action bake sale.

The Berkeley College Republicans (BCR) scheduled an affirmative action bake sale for Tuesday September 27, 2011, to highlight inequality found in affirmative action (reverse discrimination). This came in wake of California Senate Bill 185—which intends to overturn 1996 law Proposition 209, legislation that outlawed quotas in university admissions.

Governor Jerry Brown has yet to sign it into law. If approved, SB 185 would disable Prop. 209:

“This bill would authorize the University of California and  require  the California State University to consider race, gender, ethnicity, and national origin, along with other relevant factors, in undergraduate and graduate admissions, to the maximum extent permitted by the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, Section 31 of Article I of the California Constitution, and relevant case law.”

California Students Could Succeed Again With School Choice

Cross-posted from the NSCW Blog

When people think of California, they envision a place marked by idyllic weather, insurmountable wealth, friendly people, and world- famous attractions. It is undeniable that the Golden State has led the way for job growth, endless opportunities, and innovation. California is quite enviable – why else do people flock here? Nevertheless, one area was left untouched in this period of prosperity: education.

A state greatly overridden by teachers unions and virtually nonexistent school choice laws, California is in great need of education reform. Heritage Foundation reports that California is reluctant to embrace private school choice options, although it is more hospitable to public school choice options. Nearly 351,000 students are enrolled in the state’s 941 public charter schools, signaling the minimal albeit important presence of school choice here.

Compared to other states, California ranks near the bottom in quality of education. In 2009, it was ranked 48 of 50 in terms of sending graduating seniors to four-year colleges. Additionally, teachers unions dictate the course of education and remain hostile to outsiders like school choice proponents. As a result, school choice policies hardly penetrate into the state.

Ron Paul is wrong: Ahmadinejad’s Iran is armed and dangerous

Cross-posted from Washington Times Communities

Texas Congressman and GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul is quite the libertarian firecracker. With slogans like “End the Fed” and “End All Wars Now,” Paul excites and equally lures fans—at times, fanatical ones—to his cause.

Who could deny his economic prowess? Most conservatives agree with him on upholding the Constitution, observing limited government, and eliminating federal waste. They also empathize with ideas like spending cuts, and the elimination the Departments of Education and the Environmental Protection Act, to name a few.

Nevertheless, his foreign policy views alarm many on the Right.

Paul makes sense in one regard: the United States cannot police the world and fund enemy nations. For example, it is counterintuitive to give Iran, Pakistan, and the newly formed Fatah-Hamas “Palestinian” government money.

Most conservatives accordingly deviate from Paul’s non-interventionist and arguably isolationist philosophy when he calls America an “occupier” and “aggressor.” Additionally, they view his demonization of a healthy U.S.-Israel relationship with great disdain.

Ron Paul waves to his supporters (Image: Associated Press)

During the Ames debate in August, Paul said the following about Iran: “Even our own CIA gives me this information that they have no evidence that they are working on a weapon.”

Shortly afterward, Paul elaborated that the United States has no right to interfere with Iran, suggesting that Iran can develop nuclear weapons to “successfully compete with other nations.” Accordingly, conservative talk show host Mark Levin countered Paul’s statements with the following: “Hitler would have wanted nukes too.”

Paul’s remarks aside, Iran under Ahmadinejad is armed and dangerous in all regards.

The Middle Eastern tyrant—also known as A-jad—is bringing his anti-American and anti-Semitic views to the United Nations this week.

Fifteen students from Columbia University’s International Relations Council and Association (CIRCA) have been invited to a private dinner with him on September 21,2011.

This comes as no surprise. Columbia has historically kowtowed to leftist and, often times, anti-Semitic and anti-American speakers and agendas.  September 21marks Ahmadinejad’s second meeting with Columbia students, the first being Columbia’s World Leaders Forum in 2007. It should be duly noted that Columbia invited Nazi Germany’s ambassador to the United States Hans Luther in 1933—signaling its historical embrace of dictators and their apparatchiks.

In response to the brutal dictator’s visit to the United States, Shurat HaDin —Israel Law Center—a Tel Aviv-based law firm—intends to challenge the legality of Ahmadijedad’s visit. They cite Iranian human rights abuses and state-sponsored terrorism as premises for such a case:

“Hosting Ahmadinejad at a banquet is not merely morally repulsive: It is illegal and will expose Columbia University and its officers to both criminal prosecution and civil liability to American citizens and others victimized by Iranian- sponsored terrorist,” the Tel Aviv-based NGO wrote to the university’s President Lee Bollinger last week.

In addition to its capability in developing nuclear weapons, Iran boasts flawed policies.

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran is on the forefront exposing Iran’s human rights abuses.

Criticizing the government is discouraged and punishable by law. Compared to Iran, the United States permits Americans to criticize and challenge their government. The opposite is found in Iran:

Right now, if you criticize high-ranking officials of the government, it won’t get published. Whichever newspaper wants to publish this criticism will be banned or if a website wishes to publish this kind of talk, it will get into trouble. For the past several months, none of the interviews I have done have been published in full.

Ethic discrimination is also rampant. Those deemed “minorities” in Iran have limited to nonexistent rights:

The limited enjoyment of political, economic, social and cultural rights by, inter alia, Arab, Azeri, Baluchi, Kurdish communities and some communities of non-citizens, in particular with regard to housing, education, freedom of expression and religion, health and employment, despite the economic growth in [the country.]

Additionally, Iran is notorious for sponsoring worldwide terror and for carrying out violence against gays and women.

Moreover, Iran’s unabashed dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a Holocaust denier, anti-Semite, and 9-11 truther. On numerous occasions, he has blamed Zionists for 9-11 and has called for Israel’s destruction.

Ron Paul’s wacky statements about Iran should be properly addressed. The country poses a threat to our nation’s well-being, its own inhabitants, and the rest of the free world.

Encourage Congress to support tougher sanctions on Iran, which endorses and funds Hamas, Hezbollah, and other agents of terror worldwide.

How Conservative Activists Can Support Israel on Campus

Cross-posted from Young America’s Foundation’s The Quad Blog:

“For the people of Israel and America are historic partners in the global quest for human dignity and freedom. We will always remain at each other’s side.” – President Ronald Reagan

Israel continues to face attacks here in the United States and abroad.  In May 2011, President Obama declared that Israel return to her pre-1967 borders—a move that would make the nation’s borders indefensible.  Virulent anti-Semitism is on the rise at our nation’s universities. Furthermore, Israelis are constantly attacked by “Palestinian” terrorists.

The question beckons: how should young people stand with Israel on campus?

Conservative activists, compelled to challenge the status quo, can present alternative viewpoints to their student peers. Here are three ways to be an Israel advocate on your campus:

1) Bring a YAF speaker to campus

The best way to stand with Israel on campus is to bring a pro-Israel speaker to campus. Young America’s Foundation boasts a fantastic speaker list, including pro-Israel speakers like David Horowitz, Nonie Darwish, Dennis Prager, and Robert Spencer.

With the help of Young America’s Foundation, I hosted David Horowitz to campus (UC-San Diego) in May 2010. The  famous exchange between Horowitz and a female member of the Muslim Students Association made Fox News’ Beck and Hannity shows.

2) Host a ‘Stand With Israel Week’

If you really want to impact your campus, host a week dedicated to Israel in March or May. Events for the week can include: building a Wall of Lies to counter your campus’ “Apartheid” wall, inviting Israeli Consulate Generals or IDF soldiers to speak on campus, and showing the documentary “Iranium.”

Foundation activist Mike Cunningham held a weeklong event at Purdue University and succeeded in delivering a pro-Israel message to campus.  Amid criticism, he persevered and held great events. Watch the video  here.

3) Write a pro-Israel Op-Ed

Holding a successful pro-Israel event cannot be accomplished without good press. Write a column for your campus paper or local newspaper to promote pro-Israel events on campus.

Foundation activist Aaron Marcus has been a tireless fighter for Israel at Rutgers University. As the “Marcus My Words” columnist for the Daily Targum, Marcus has challenged and equally succeeded in countering anti-Semitic, anti-Israel views on campus.

There are many ways to be an Israel advocate on campus. Start a CUFI chapter, work with Zionist Organization of America, or go to an AIPAC conference. The possibilities are endless.

Be sure to stand with Israel this school year!

Awesome: Jewish Rock Anthem for Rosh Hashanah

Infusing pop culture with Jewish holidays is ingenious.

Like the Maccabeats, this group of talented dancers deserves kudos for making a fun and equally dance-worthy music video.

To my observant friends, Happy Rosh Hashanah!

Glenn Beck Successfully Launches GBTV

“Good for you, you have a heart, you can be a liberal. Now, couple your heart with your brain, and you can be a conservative.” –Glenn Beck

Do you miss Glenn Beck, his chalkboard, and his Fox News show? Want the latest from Beck and Mercury Radio Arts? Fear not: conservative commentator and radio talk show host Glenn Beck is coming to a computer near you! Launching GBTV on September 12, 2011 the show’s tagline is “The Truth Lives Here”.

Accordingly, the conservative commentator’s television network promises to be unlike any other and the first episode of “The Glenn Beck Show” under the GBTV banner was impressive.

Since leaving Fox News Channel in June, Beck has worked tirelessly to produce high-quality material to viewers and subscribers. The quality of production was impeccable, as there were no glitches or problems viewing the show.

More importantly, Beck viewers have become more inspired to challenge President Obama and both parties with his return to television encouraging GBTV subscribers to take action to restore this country’s greatness.

“We are starting a movement in America, but the rest is up to you,” said Beck. “Don’t get angry. Become determined.”  Beck did not hesitate to call Obama an anti-American president remarking  “The president is a Marxist. There, I said it.”

Glenn Beck in the shadow of the Rally to Restore Honor in DC.

Just like old times, Beck entertained and equally educated his viewers in the first episode. He discussed the tenth anniversary of 9-11, the imminent danger of radical Islam, the importance of 9-12, and the important news stories of today.

Mayor Bloomberg denied invitations to clergymen and 9-11 first responders for yesterday’s commemorative events, so Beck had them on his program. He thanked them for comforting and protecting citizens on that terrible day and the proceeding years, while thanking them for being unsung heroes. It was touching and equally heartwarming to see these men appreciated for their talents and bravery, as many have lost sight on the importance of faith and security in America.

Beck also talked about the threat of radical Islam. He invited terror expert and The Terrorist Next Door author Erick Stakelbeck to shed light on the problem of creeping Shar’ia in the United States. He noted that mosques have nearly doubled in size since 9-11, from 1,200 to over 2,000.

Glenn Beck also had GBTV correspondent S.E. Cupp on to discuss the CNN/Tea Party Republican Debate in Tampa, Florida. Additionally, FreedomWorks president Matt Kibbe came on to discuss the importance of 9-12 and the Tea Party Movement.

This is what viewers can expect with a subscription to GBTV.  At this current time, GBTV boasts over 230,000 subscribers, more members than media queen Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network, which boasts 156,000 subscribers.

Subscribers to GBTV can listen to Glenn Beck’s radio show 24/7 and  watch The Glenn Beck Show at 5-7 pm EST each weekday, listen to the 4th Hour of the Glenn Beck Radio Program, watch GBTV humorist Brian Sack crack jokes in B.S. of A, learn important history lessons with Beck University, and much more.

Fox News commentator and conservative author S.E. Cupp will be the chief GBTV University correspondent. She will be traveling across the country to universities to bring awareness to liberal bias on campus.

Here is a better glimpse of GBTV:

GBTV is Glenn’s new live HD Video Network, featuring his two hour daily program, plus a full slate of original Glenn Beck Programming, news, documentaries, reality and behind-the-scenes shows, and much more. GBTV is Glenn Beck originals that you just can’t get anywhere else.

Remember, the truth has no agenda.

Obama Apologists Propel Mudslinging, Clash of Republicans During Reagan Debate

Cross-posted from Washington Times Communities

The fourth Republican Presidential debate took place at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, on Wednesday.

Sponsors included NBC News and Politico, two mouthpieces for President Obama and his administration.

Adding more “spice” to the mix were moderators Brian Williams and John Harris.

Those unfamiliar with both men should note their liberal ties. Williams is a self-described Obama worshipper. In comparison, Harris edits Politico—a website best known for its hit pieces on Republicans, conservatives, and the Tea Party Movement.

Undoubtedly, watching MSNBC is painful for conservatives. The network’s commentary is subjective, and its commentators are in the tank for the president and the Democratic Party.

Pre-debate commentary with Hardball host and “Thrill Going Up My Leg” Chris Mathews was equally painful to bear. Here were Mathew’s wise words for viewers at home: “Kick ‘em in the balls.”

Eight Republican contenders participated in the debate: Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MI), former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Governor Rick Perry (R-TX), Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), businessman Herman Cain, former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, and former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.

From the start, both Williams and Harris made the debate into a Romney vs. Perry contest, whilst ignoring the other six candidates.

Nevertheless, both candidates took swipes at one another.

Mitt Romney questioned Perry about job creation and said, “States are different. Texas is a great state. Texas has zero income tax. Texas has a right to work state, a Republican legislature, a Republican Supreme Court. Texas has a lot of oil and gas in the ground. Those are wonderful things, but Governor Perry doesn’t believe that he created those things. If he tried to say that, well, it would be like Al Gore saying he invented the Internet.”

Rick Perry responded to Romney’s comments and said, “Michael Dukakis created jobs three times faster than you did, Mitt.”

Once the moderators turned their questions to Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House called them out for pitting the candidates against one another.

Additionally, both Ron Paul and Rick Perry spared with one another over who is more conservative.

Ron Paul questioned Perry’s conservatism with his support of Gardasil in Texas:

“But one of the worst parts about that is the way it was done. The governorship in the State of Texas traditionally, is supposed to be a weak governorship. I didn’t even know they could pass laws by writing an executive order. He did it with an executive order. Passed it. But the state was furious. And the legislature overwhelmingly repealed this. But I think it was the way it was passed — which was so bad, I think it’s such a bad piece of legislation — but I don’t like the idea of executive orders. I as President will not use executive orders to write laws.”

Perry then went after Paul for leaving the Republican Party in the 1980′s:

“Speaking of letters, I was more interested in the one that you wrote to Ronald Reagan back … and said I’m going to quit the party because of the things that you believe in.”

Here are some more highlights from Wednesday’s debate:

“If 10% is good enough for God, 9% ought to be good enough for the fellow government.” –Herman Cain discussing his 9-9-9 economic plan.

“I do want to address the subject of $2 oil or gasoline, because I can do it much better than that. I can get you a gallon of gasoline for a dime.” – Ron Paul discussing gas prices

“Kids need jobs.” –Michele Bachmann

“I kind of feel like the piñata here at the party.” –Rick Perry

“I’d like to encourage more choice.” –Newt Gingrich discussing support for school choice and charter schools.

“Maybe it’s time to have more provocative language…It’s time to get this country working again.” –Rick Perry

Will Rick Perry maintain his “front runner” status? Will Jon Huntsman finally admit that he is a Democrat? Who will be the next candidate to drop out of the race? Is the race exclusively between Perry and Romney? Stay tuned.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for the upcoming debates: CNN/Tea Party Express Debate –September 12, 2011 and Fox News/Google Debate—September 22, 2011.

Holocaust Survivor Irving Roth Comes to San Diego September 14th

Sponsors of the event include Christians United for Israel-California and CUFI on Campus.

More information can be found on CUFI’s website and on the Facebook event:

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 14 from  7:00pm – 9:00pm.

The event is free and open to all people.

Here is some more information about the speaker:

IRVING ROTH is the Director of the Holocaust Resource Center at the Temple Judea of Manhasset, New York, and is the former education director of the Holocaust Memorial and Education Center of Nassau County. An internationally known educator, Mr. Roth has endeavored to teach people about the Holocaust and the lessons that can be learned from that experience. Many people throughout his community owe their knowledge of the Holocaust to Mr. Roth. Steve Pagiavlas, the art director of the Holocaust Resource Center at the Temple Judea of Manhasset, says he is “…the most prolific Holocaust speaker I have ever heard.” Mr. Roth has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for his work promoting a more accepting and diverse world. It is his life’s mission to make the world a better place that has earned Mr. Roth the Spirit of Anne Frank Award.

This is a unique, one-of-a-kind experience for all to learn about the Holocaust and its toll on Jews, Christians, and the rest of the world. A first hand account is the best way to learn about the travesties that marked and defined the Holocaust. We must never forget.

Hope to see you there!
