Moncton’s Warning: Beware Copenhagen in December!

All hands alert!

I don’t have anything to add because this is so shattering there is nothing that can be added. If this extract scares you then you have to read the whole thing. And then we all shall have to do something.

At [the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in] Copenhagen, this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed. Your president will sign it. Most of the third world countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regime from the European Union will rubber stamp it. Virtually nobody won’t sign it.

I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfaction of what is called, coyly, “climate debt” – because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t. We’ve been screwing up the climate and they haven’t. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement.

How many of you think that the word “election” or “democracy” or “vote” or “ballot” occurs anywhere in the 200 pages of that treaty? Quite right, it doesn’t appear once. So, at last, the communists who piled out of the Berlin Wall and into the environmental movement, who took over Greenpeace so that my friends who founded it left within a year, because [the communists] captured it – Now the apotheosis as at hand. They are about to impose a communist world government on the world. You have a president who has very strong sympathies with that point of view. He’s going to sign it. He’ll sign anything. He’s a Nobel Peace Prize [winner]; of course he’ll sign it.

[laughter]

And the trouble is this; if that treaty is signed, if your Constitution says that it takes precedence over your Constitution (sic), and you can’t resign from that treaty unless you get agreement from all the other state parties – And because you’ll be the biggest paying country, they’re not going to let you out of it.

Read the treaty. Read the rest of Lord Moncton’s remarks. If this is signed and passed, it will be the greatest act of BETRAYAL that has ever been committed on the American people. We all must act, every one of us, doing whatever we can.

This must not stand!

Update: Lord Moncton’s powerpoint presentation and video are now available online.

I haven't yet read the treaty,

Steph C Friday, October 16th at 10:06AM EDT (link)

but I did read that article yesterday. If what Moncton is saying is true, it’s not only unConstitutional, it’s treason. And any Congress critter who rubberstamps is complicit in the treason.

The Constitution does not allow for a president or anyone else to give our sovereignty away.

Beagle, do international treaties signed by our...

president have to be ratified by a 2/3 majority of our Senate? Or is that just certain kinds of treaties? I read about this yesterday and you are absolutely right, if we sign this, it is putting our country right into the grasp of a One World Government.

2/3 of Senate to Ratify

LJ "Beaglescout" Miller Friday, October 16th at 10:42AM EDT (link)

Ratification would make it as effective as a Constitutional Amendment. But if it is passed with 51% in both House and Senate it still takes the force of legislation, though it can be repealed later.

However, this is late in the game to be discovering this kind of insanity. Something is fishy in Denmark.

That's a key point you're making here - the real danger of this

civil_truth Friday, October 16th at 12:23PM EDT (link)

To be formally ratified as a treaty does require submission to the Senate and a 2/3rds vote. This would seem unlikely,( though with the Democrats holding 60 seats, we may not be far from 7 R’s joining in if they don’t read the fine print and go along with the Climate Warming mob.)

However, the political danger is that the President’s signing this treaty will embolden the Democratic majority to enact many of these provisions by legislation - and especially if they do it piecemeal, we may not see what’s going on and refuse to arouse significant opposition.

And many of these provisions will be difficult to reverse even if the R’s somedown gain control of the legislature because it will be a stealth usurption.

"as effective as a Constitutional amendment"?

Joshua Persons Friday, October 16th at 12:41PM EDT (link)

I highly doubt that. The Constitution and its amendments take priority over a ratified amendment. In addition, I have no idea where you’re getting the ” if it is passed with 51% in both House and Senate it still takes the force of legislation” claim; II.2.2 of the Constitution (the Advice and Consent clause) says nothing about it at all.

Can you explain your reasoning here?

if it passes with 51% as legislation, rather than a treaty

LJ "Beaglescout" Miller Friday, October 16th at 1:27PM EDT (link)

then it still forces the treaty on us. This is what civil_truth is writing about in his 12:23 comment.

The Constitution says 'treaties', doesn't specify types

Finrod Friday, October 16th at 10:45AM EDT (link)

From Article II, Section 2, paragraph 2:

[The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; ..

So I’d say that if this treaty isn’t ratified by 2/3rds of the Senate, it’s not binding on the US. President Clinton signed Kyoto too and that was voted down by 99 Senators.

Do you feel comfy depending on the Senate to do the right thing?

LJ "Beaglescout" Miller Friday, October 16th at 10:55AM EDT (link)

I don’t. Not before making my voice heard, and probably not after.

Requires 2/3rds majority

If we can’t come up with 34 Republicans to shoot this thing down, we deserve to get rolled. Even if McCain, Graham, both Maine women, and Lugar vote for it, that still leaves 35 non-RINOs.

There we go with the "advice and consent" crap again...

…Republicans in the Senate read “advice and consent” and think “roll over and play dead.”

All I can say is WOW!

How did this one fly so far under the radar? Has anyone heard of this “treaty”?

I guess we can count on the Senate to not ratify this stinking pile of…what’s that you say? Senate Democrats will actually agree with the premises of this treaty if we don’t make our voices heard? TO THE PHONES, PEOPLE, TO THE PHONES! Let your Congresscritters and Senatedwellers know what’s going on!

Well this is the followup to Kyoto

Richard Mullins Friday, October 16th at 11:06AM EDT (link)

so in other words, this is more that Climate change crap. We need to have some apps on webpages that send letters to your congresscritters and senators not to vote yes on it. If there is one post it up here. As for flying under the radar, it didn’t fly under the radar for me, I’ve kind of known that this was coming, but it really bad that we have a president that would sign this.

Don't have time to read this right now (will do so later)...

But someone in Congress needs to step up and file articles of impeachment against the One if he signs this treaty, if it really is a bad as indicated.

it still congress that has the final say and right now, their water boys for Obama and company. We can’t say that they will do the right thing, we to blast the fact that we the people don’t want it. No time to roll over and play dead anymore.

I was kind of thinking that doing so might

larueladue Friday, October 16th at 12:01PM EDT (link)

send a message to the Senate that they should not, under any circumstances, approve the treaty… But in such a way that might have added benefits.

re climate debt in the treaty...

Patrick_Murdock Saturday, October 17th at 11:51AM EDT (link)

I love this section.

“Developed country Parties shall provide financial resources and transfer technology to developing country Parties to make full and effective repayment of climate debt, including adaptation debt, taking responsibility for their historical cumulative emissions and current high per capita emissions. Developing country Parties will, in pursuing economic development and poverty eradication, take proactive measures to adapt to and mitigate climate change;”

I mean we would have to make “full” payment not just in coin but in “transfer” of technology. And developing countries are to take measures to “mitigate climate change”. I forgot that our planet is supposed to have an unchanging climate.

Another day. Another outrage.

Great diary

And just what "financial resources" can we transfer to

janis Saturday, October 17th at 12:30PM EDT (link)

developing countries? We could let them have a few failed banks, or we can mail off some mortgages that were defaulted on and then they can trot on over here and see if they can sell the things…..

….seriously, where, besides printing up some more soon-to-be worthless bucks, would we come up with ANY money to send over to countries who haven’t managed to figure out how to produce some of their own? As for transferring technology, I say to give them Al Gore and his damned hockey stick. We’ll throw in his enormous gas-guzzling houseboat for free. Or perhaps we can ship them our clean coal technology that we won’t be using since Obama and Sheriff Joe won’t allow it. At the rate the Dems are killing our economy and present technology, it will be the United States of America that should be on the receiving end of the benefits here.

Government conspiracy stuff for twenty years now. It always had a ‘truther’ quality to it before. No more. It is amazing to me how much has slipped away from us just in the past couple of years, and especially in the past nine months. You used to be able to ignore this sort of thing. These days, you do so at your peril.
