Vice President Bobby Jindal

I believe that Bobby Jindal should be and will be Mitt Romney’s choice for VP. Jindal brings the following positives:

  • Two-Term Governor of Louisiana with a high approval rating.
  • Has faced crises in Hurricane Gustav (extensive evacuations) and the BP Oil Spill, and was widely seen as handling them competently.
  • Puts New Jersey in play (in 2004, John Kerry only won by 241K votes), because it has a high Indian population that typically votes Democrat.
  • Has experience in all levels of government, including both legislative and executive branch positions. He has been both a leader and a team member.
  • He has expertise in Healthcare management, and can be instrumental in taking apart Obamacare.
  • Solidly conservative on Abortion, Guns, Illegal Immigration, among other issues.
  • He has experience dealing with Obama, i.e. he knows where Obama’s weaknesses lie first hand.
  • His education credentials are impressive (graduated from college at age 20 with honors and a double-major, Rhodes Scholar), and he doesn’t just have “book smarts”, he also is intelligent on a practical level.
  • Balances the ticket with respect to Geography (Northeast and South).
  • Has worked in the private sector (McKinsey) as a management consultant.

Of course, he has a couple of negatives:

  • He did a horrible job in the Republican response to the State of the Union Address in 2009.
  • His Southern accent can be a little thick, and he sometimes talks like he has marbles in his mouth.
  • He’s only 41.

I think that Jindal has worked on his speaking, and he may be only 41, but, he has been ahead of the game since early in his life.

We’ll find out soon, but I think Jindal would be a very smart pick.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is known as a “human bulldozer.” He battled with the New Jersey teacher union heads over his plan requiring union members chip-in more towards their medical and retirement plans, retire at an older age, and accept lower benefit payments. Prior to the law passed by Christie, most of New Jersey teachers paid zero towards their health care coverage. Even the New York Times described Christie as “One of the most intriguing political figures in America.”

While I agree, I still like Christie.

Someone who could lead in the role of President!!!. Lets not get caught up the swing state thing. Look at their records .As my dad always told me with making a big decision write down the pros and cons!! Good advice dad !!! I’m sure the Romney team is doing the same!!!

Kind of got a little carried away with the exclamation points, didn’t we????? Well, my dad told me that “It ain’t over, til it’s over.” Wait, that was Yogi Berra!!!!!!

I like Christie, but, he’s a one-term Governor, and he holds some socially liberal positions. Also, his style clashes with Romney, and he’s unlikely to fit well into the 2nd-fiddle position.

      What Southern accent? Sheesh.

Jindal has a lot of good things but his budgets have not been great. Plus, there has not been much fat cut from a budget bloated by post Hurricane Katrina.

BTW, he has had to embrace the moderate insider deal making side to get legislation accomplished, and in a big way.

some of the easiest to eliminate from VP contention are those who have been announced as Keynote speakers at the conference and who have in turn, accepted.

Once you remove those names and considering that he will announce his VP within the next 10 days, one has to look at the final names joining Romney in his bus tour over the next few days which are, Rubio, Portman, McDonnell, and Ayotte. You can safely guess these are his final four and out of those on the list, Portman has to be the least desirable.

I would have to believe the two leaders are Ayotte and McDonnell with Rubio being a very close “next.”

Jindal will not be chosen, neither will Christie.

Rubio – I like him a lot, but, he needs more time. He’s only had a couple of years on the national stage. I do believe that he could help to deliver Florida, but, this choice is too risky for Romney’s style.

Portman – No guarantees that he’ll deliver Ohio, and too deep of ties to the Bush Administration, specifically budgetary, which is easy to demagogue.

McDonnell – I don’t see Romney picking a Governor in his or her first term.

Ayotte – About the same age as Jindal, though not even close to the same level of experience. She’s a first-term Senator, just elected in 2010.

Remember once upon a time a Conservative President named Ronald Reagan had a poor speech prior to his election and the rest was history.
Remember Bobby Jindal was mentioned in 2008. The only candidate that is mentioned again is Bobby Jindal for VP.in 2012.

The choice is Bobby Jindal for VP or remain in Louisiana as a GREAT GOVERNOR.

Christie could bring in a lot of independent voters for Romney. One term governor . . . we’ll see, the race isn’t over till it’s over. I do agree with you on the 2nd fiddle issue.

I have to say I would really like to see Mitt show some diversity on the ticket so I would like to see Rubio or Jindal as the guy. Jindal has a very impressive resume for such a young guy. Rubio has a meteoric rise much like the NOne but will be easier to pick at because of youth and questionable ethics.

Of all the ‘safe’ choices I like McDonnel. Way more energy and charisma than Portman or Palenty who are just too bland.

Even with the negatives Rubio brings the most with T party love, Hispanics, and FL and could help with CO and NM as well. The left will pounce no matter who we pick so why not go all in.

Watching all the VEEP stuff I watched the Aspen Governor’s meeting. Jindal was in the middle . Chrisitie and Mcdonnel both said I agree with Bobby, I agree with Bobby. It was kinda like whos’ the smartest kid in the room. !!!

  • liberty17

but Rubio would be good too. We will just have to wait and see!

  • buster93

jindal has way more experience . I like Rubio and McDonnel but has less experience then Jindal. I think a debate with Biden vs Jindal would be quite interesting . Jindal will convince you who knows his stuff. No telepromters needed.!!!!
