State Rep. Bryan Hughes proposes allowing fireworks for Texas Independance Day

Kudos to the Texian Online for being on top of this one.

“A bill proposed by State Rep. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola) would allow the sale of fireworks from February 20th until midnight on March 2, Texas Independence Day.

The legislation, HB 599, would add the Texas Independence Day window to three other periods when fireworks may be legally sold to the public in Texas: the Christmas Day/New Year’s window, the July 4th Independence Day window, and a narrowly crafted Cinco de Mayo window for border counties.

While selling fireworks only goes so far toward helping gain more attention for the holiday, it is a start. Plus, it is a good thing–economically speaking–for the fireworks industry.”

This is one bill that I hope all Texans can support.
