Stiffing Taxpayers

The Obamas are taking unfair advantage of taxpayers simply because  their travel, expenses and protection are guaranteed. The multi-million dollar costs of their sightseeing trips, ski sojourns, vacations and golf outings are being shouldered by the poor and hard-pressed middle class taxpayers. During high unemployment, increased payroll taxes, oppressive energy and gasoline costs and huge budget deficits should we pay millions for the First Family’s frequent fun and games?

How beneficial, if over $20 million in costs for the Obama’s Hawaii vocations, alone, were split between victims of hurricane Sandy and America’s Wounded Warriors. Why should taxpayers pay a million dollars for a golf lesson with Butch Harmon and game with Tiger Woods in Palm City, Fla. when 20 minutes from the White House is an excellent golf course at Camp David? If the Obamas would limit a few sightseeing trips and golf outings it would pay for hundreds of inner-city and under-privileged children to enjoy summer camp.

Was it necessary to pay $1,600,000 so Barack Obama could give a 20 minute speech in Las Vegas when it could be given from Washington?  Realize that an Obama vacation uses Marine One, a helicopter, two giant Boeing 747’s designated Air Force One, Boeing 757 wide body jets for Secret Service, limousines, press, media plus electronic and teleprompter equipment. Ignored is the $181,757 cost of operating large Air Force planes each in-flight hour. How ironic that the main stream press stands mute while our Vacationer and Chief is stiffing taxpayers.

    Every President goes on vacations. This isn’t going to get press, because it isn’t news worthy. Why is it that we only seem to focus on non meaningful parts of this Presidency? It’s expensive for him to go on vacation because of every single precaution Secret Service has to take, from the hotels they have to stay in to the transportation they have to take. It’s expensive for Presidents to travel period. The man won reelection unfortunately and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it at this point, other then deal with reality. So rather then focus on Obama’s vacations, why not focus on how to retake the Senate and keep the Dems from retaking the House in 2014? That should be the main focus for the next two years. If we can do that, Obama’s agenda completely comes to a halt.

    I guess we should be grateful that he decided to stay in the United States this time, so his extravagance can at least help Americans.

    He may be less dangerous when he’s on vacation.

      Ha ha – perhaps this is a way to implement a stimulus for the local economy.

      President’s vacations, trips etc are really not worth focusing on IMHO. Yes – waste in any form should be looked at – but this is really not the worst part of the administration – there are better, more significant avenues of criticism (the current doomsdaying of sequestration for example).

      I remember democrats going after President Bush’s vacations – it was petty for them to do so – and it would be the same for us to do the same for President Obama’s vacations.

    The more vacation, the better in my opinion, because that means less time in Washington. Think of how much more harm he could have done if he actually had a work ethic.

    The Bushes went home to Texas the vast majority of the time and the Reagans to their home in California. I know the Bushes had accommodations on the ranch for some SS and staffers, the rest stayed in Crawford. I’m not sure how the Reagans handled that, but I’m sure there was some kind of similar arrangement. I seem to remember something about the Reagans staying either at the White House or Camp David several Christmases so their staff could be with family for the holidays. I think it was the Reagans, but I’m too lazy to google it. :-) As for myself, if I were President or First Lady, I’d high-tail it for home every chance I could get just to get away from the alternative universe/cesspool that is D.C., just for a dose pf normalcy!

    Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange that the Obama family never goes home to Chicago for a visit with family and friends? There’s just something about this president and first lady that makes me feel deeply unsettled and that goes far beyond politics to something more fundamental that I can’t quite put my finger on. They’re like stepford people or laboratory hatchlings. They’re just so fake…for lack of a better word.

      I like your final paragraph. (^:^) I doubt that they have any friends–Barack doesn’t seem the type to have real close friends. Michelle might, but I don’t think she grew up in Chicago either, so childhood friends wouldn’t be there, nor would relatives. Barack’s relatives are all too busy making ends meet in Africa or avoiding ICE and Fox News in the US to spend any time with him, plus there would be the language barrier. It would surprise me greatly if he ever has contact with any relatives on his mother’s side, even if any survive.
