Obama, Media Hypocrisy and the Death of a Soldier

For a helping of hypocrisy and a little dose of double standard, all you need to do is take a look at the way the Obama Media covered the recent shooting of an abortion doctor and the subsequent shooting of a U.S. soldier in Alabama.

Dr. George Tiller, a doctor who specialized in late term abortions or partial birth abortions was murdered in Church by a man named Scott Roeder. Roeder was a self proclaimed anti-abortion activist who found Tiller while he was serving as an usher in his Church in Wichita, Kansas.

Shortly after the murder, Obama had issued a statement about how sad and disturbed he was over the killing of George Tiller. And just yesterday, the Department of Justice launched a federal investigation into the murder, it looks like they may be trying to seek the death penalty.

On June 1, two U.S. soldiers were shot outside an army recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas. The perpetrator was Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammed; a Muslim convert who went out looking for a soldier to shoot. Pvt. William Long, just out of basic training died at the hospital from his wounds. Days past before the Obama administration acknowledged that they even knew about the shooting.

The media, in its apparent love and adoration of Obama and all things liberal, gave little attention to the recruiter shootings in Little Rock, while immediately branding Scott Roeder a domestic terrorist. We have Janet Napalatano and her Homeland Security Department to thank for that one.

So why no coverage of the Army recruiter shootings; were these soldiers not worthy enough to make the eleven o’clock news. No editorials about how bad the Muslim community wanted to commit crimes against our military? There sure were enough about how Dr. Tiller was only an innocent doctor, helping the health of women everywhere when a right wing nut ended his life.

I think the biggest reason for the silence of the American media on this is the fact that one story fit their template, the other didn’t. One story promotes an agenda of the Obama administration, the other would make him look bad.

Obama is a supporter of abortion; not only that but a supporter of late term abortion. He wants it propped up and promoted perpetually. That’s what liberals care about, abortion, global warming and raising taxes. The Muslim who killed a soldier in Arkansas, well, he picked a terrible week to do that. Obama had a magnanimous speech to give in Egypt, remember? This was the week that Obama was going to make all Muslims everywhere love us again.

The media just did their level best to cover Obama’s hide while on his trip to Egypt, they were just covering for their boss. We wouldn’t want Barry looking bad while he’s over there kissing some Muslim tail now would we? So, the story of a Muslim committing murder against one of our brave soldiers goes away. The story of a doctor who spent his life ending lives, well, now that’s a story they can get behind.

A True American Hero: Ken Leonard

I know Ken only through talking with him and commenting on the same blogs. But from what I know, and what I’ve seen, Ken and others like him are the reason America is what it is today. This post is a tribute to Ken and the other HEROES like him. Thank God for these people, without them where would we be? I shutter to think. Read his story here. This is from my friend Kate at RightPundits:

Ken’s courage, dedication, and character has been spotlighted nationally. He has been nominated for an ‘America’s Most Wanted’ All-Star – a contest to recognize first responders who go beyond the call of duty. There are a lot of heroes up for this award, but none quite like Ken Leonard. You can vote for Ken once a day, EVERY DAY, until the end of the contest on April 12th.

I know this is not a typical Red State post, but it is worthwhile. Ken and the other American Heroes are worthwhile.

Washington Post Firmly Up Obama’s Rear

Well, the stimulus……porkulus or whatever you want to call that travesty that congress has been working on passed through last night without a hiccup. And of course, Obama’s willing accomplice’s in the media are swooning at his brilliance today; as if that’s different from any other day. From the face of the agenda driven media today, the Washington Post:

In size and scope, there is almost nothing in history to rival the economic stimulus legislation that Obama shepherded through Congress in just over three weeks. And the result — produced largely without Republican participation — was remarkably similar to the terms Obama’s team outlined even before he was inaugurated: a package of tax cuts and spending totaling about $775 billion.

As Obama urged passage of the plan, he and his still-incomplete team demonstrated a single-mindedness that was familiar from the campaign trail. That intensity may have contributed to missteps in other areas, as the president’s White House stumbled repeatedly in the vetting of his Cabinet and staff nominees. And high-minded promises of bipartisanship evaporated as Republicans accused the president and his Democratic allies in Congress of the same heavy-handed tactics that Obama, in his campaign, had often demanded be changed.

Yep, huge victory for Obama, huge loss for America. That’s pretty much the way it’s been for the last several years now. Good for democrats=bad for the country and vice verse. Barry won this time, that’s fine; America lost, big time. Too bad the libs can’t see just how much this legislation will cripple the economy rather than help it. But, they are blinded by the brilliance of Obama and it just isn’t really going to matter what he does. They will never admit that anything he does or proposes is wrong.

Makes me feel proud to have stood up to President Bush when I thought he was wrong. I can honestly say I possess intellectual integrity, something the weasels on the left may never be able to say. You can read the whole sickening article here, if you can stomach it.

Up Barry's Rear

Sarah Palin, Michael Steele: Future Of The GOP

With the nomination of Sarah Palin this past fall, and the election mere hours ago, of Michael Steele as GOP chairman, you could say without any shadow of a doubt that this isn’t your fathers Republican party.

Gone are the days, when the Democrats held the monopoly on minorities and women. When all you thought of when it came to Republicans were slightly overweight old white men with gray hair. The GOP is in the process of trying to reform itself, despite the best efforts of some in Washington to keep that from happening.

The base of the GOP is arguably the Christian right. And they love Sarah Palin, that goes without saying. Michael Steele has been very popular with the conservative base for sometime now. Especially after he was villainized by the Democrats in the 2006 senate campaign in which he lost to Benjamin Cardin. The GOP looks to strengthen it’s base to win back seats that it has given up over the last two election cycles.

Barry may be a new face in the White House, but the makeup of the congress is the same old cast of characters. The GOP is taking a step in the right (no pun intended) direction.

With the likes of Palin, Steele, and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, the future looks bright for the Republicans. And more importantly, for the country.

An Answer Within A Question

Sometimes the most profound questions come from the most unlikely places. And hidden within those questions are the actual answers. In Davos, Switzerland at the annual Economic Forum, it seems that the Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, was unusually optimistic. Ask the question why, and get a million different answers. China hasn’t been hit like the rest of the world so far in this economic dowturn. Ask the question why again, and you could still get many different answers.

The only bright spot, as the conference got under way came from Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier. Eager to calm concerns that his country’s economy would not avoid recession, Mr. Wen struck an unabashedly upbeat tone.

“I can give you a definitive answer,” he said. “Yes, it will; we are full of confidence.”

Mr. Wen, in a rare appearance by a top Chinese official at Davos, said that the Chinese government had set a goal of 8 percent growth in 2009, which he called “an attainable target through hard work.” He reeled off statistics that showed bank lending and investment, after slowing sharply in the fall, picked up in December and January.

So it seems that Premier Jiabao tried to answer those questions himself. I found the answer the other day when I was outside working in the yard with my kids. My daughter, seven years old, is at that age where she is learning to read. So of course she reads everything now. I was taking care of some tall grass that I had been meaning to get to for months when I heard the answer within a question; “Daddy, why does everything say made in China?” Like I said, the answer within a question. A pretty profound one at that.

President Obama: “The Centrist”

I hope you rino’s out there who thought that President Barry was going to govern from the middle …….cough, cough…….(Bill Kristol)…..wink, wink…….are happy. Just take a look at three huge executive orders handed down by his most merciful, lord Barack Obama.

First, Barry hits the war on terror square in the mouth by ordering Gitmo closed before anybody has a chance to decide what the heck is going to happen to 245 terrorists and enemies of America. Nice one, perhaps now we could just have some sort of summit meeting with Osama at the Ritz in New York city. And of course, he sends “say it ain’t so” Joe out on the Sunday talk shows to talk about how hard it will be. Should’ve thought of that before signing the order.

Second, can’t forget the ladies in the audience, Barry signs an executive order which will now make it easier to kill that unwanted baby in your belly. Good job, Barry, keep it up your doing great. So that’s one for the anti-war crowd, and one for the anti-baby, definition of selfish, feminists.

And third, Barry….excuse me, President Barry signs an executive order to appease the environmentalist nut jobs out there. This one forces stricter standards on the auto industry….just what they needed….. and keeps Barry on Gov. Arnold’s good side. So that’s one for the anti-war crowd, one for the baby killers, and one for the environmentalist wacko’s. Yep, he’s right in the middle Mr. Kristol.

Priorities Alive and Well in America

A Pew Research Poll finds that Americans are more worried about the economy than anything else. That is very comforting, what with a new socialist style administration taking over, middle east turmoil, people killing each other over their Facebook status, and the militant homosexuals trying to divide the country over the outcome of Proposition 8 in California; I can see how the economy would rank as the highest priority for all Americans.

485-1

Certainly you can see how, money would trump everything else, I mean what else do we have to worry about. Radical Islam, socialist dictators, civil unrest in our own country? No way. It’s all about the green. This continues to be good news for President Barry and the democrats; it’s what got them elected after all. Had the economy remained in a relatively good  condition, I really believe that McCain would have won, not that that would have been a good thing; but, the democrats would definitely not be sitting on so much power up in Washington. Argue with me if you will, but it’s true.

So now that the economy continues to trump everything else, including the environment, which was the liberal mainstay for so long, Barry and the dems had better fix it. Just a word of advice to the libs in control, people vote their pocketbooks, no matter who’s in power.

Obama Shows Weakness: Will Issue Executive Order to Close Gitmo’ After Left Wing Criticism

If you wanted to know how Barry is going to govern, you only need to look at the report that has appeared only one day after an interview with George Stephanopoulos on the Sunday talk show This Week, where Obama disclosed much to the chagrin of left wing loonies, that closing the Guantanamo Bay prison facility, a point of contention with Bush haters for years, would be difficult to do in his first 100 days.

OBAMA: It is more difficult than I think a lot of people realizeand we are going to get it done but part of the challenge that you have is that you have a bunch of folks that have been detained, many of whom who may be very dangerous who have not been put on trial or have not gone through some adjudication. And some of the evidence against them may be tainted even though it’s true. And so how to balance creating a process that adheres to rule of law, habeas corpus, basic principles of Anglo American legal system, by doing it in a way that doesn’t result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So not necessarily first 100 days.

OBAMA: That’s a challenge. I think it’s going to take some time and our legal teams are working in consultation with our national security apparatus as we speak to help design exactly what we need to do. But I don’t want to be ambiguous about this. We are going to close Guantanamo and we are going to make sure that the procedures we set up are ones that abide by our constitution. That is not only the right thing to do but it actually has to be part of our broader national security strategy because we will send a message to the world that we are serious about our values.

So like clockwork the ACLU and other human rights groups criticized Barry for his remarks, and like clockwork, Barry caved.

The president-elect drew criticism from some human rights groups Monday who said his remarks suggested that closing Guantánamo was not among the new administration’s highest priorities. But even if the detention camp remains open for months, the decision to address Guantánamo on the day after his inauguration seemed intended to make a symbolic break with some of the most controversial policies of the Bush administration.

President-elect Barack Obama plans to issue an executive order on his first full day in office ordering the closing of the Guantánamo Bay detention camp in Cuba, people briefed by Obama transition officials said Monday.

Let me get this straight Barry, Gitmo’ will be closed, but it won’t happen in the first 100 days because it is harder than expected; but the ACLU didn’t like what you said so the first thing your going to do in office is issue an executive order to close the prison that holds a couple hundred of the most dangerous terrorists and America haters in the world? Thanks for clearing that up.

So left wing cooks everywhere, listen up. All you have to do if Barry says something you disagree with, is to complain just loud enough so his handlers will get in his ear about it, and then he will immediately reverse or hurry his decision to satisfy or should I say pacify you. We already know that he relies on polls and focus groups to make policy decisions, now we know he will rely on the menstrual cycle of the loony left as well.

I’m really starting to admire all over again the hard stances made by the Bush administration, even those I disagreed with. I suppose we should get used to sound or not so sound policy decisions made by the seat of Barry’s pants. Pretty frightening.

Barry Pulls Back; Or Has He?

President-elect Obama was in a better position than most of us knew when the economic “crisis” hit a few months ago. Right in the heat of the Presidential campaign, a crisis of “depression like” proportions hit for the ultimate October surprise. Whether or not it was orchestrated by the Democrats is beside the point, it helped them just the same.

Barry was in the position to continue to make all of the promises that he had been making for the last year and a half, while knowing that he would have the perfect excuse to renege on said plans. Now that the election has been decided for a couple of months, and the economic “crisis” is still a “crisis”, Barry has been able to smoothly change his mind on a few priorities.

Jan. 11 (Bloomberg) — President-elect Barack Obama said reviving the U.S. economy will require scaling back on his campaign promises and personal sacrifice from all Americans.

“I want to be realistic here, not everything that we talked about during the campaign are we going to be able to do on the pace we had hoped,” Obama said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” program broadcast this morning. “Everybody’s going to have to give.”

While going back on your promises is not unprecedented in American politics, nobody will be able to do it with less damage than Barry. The Dems will just keep hurling blame at George W. Bush, and that will cover them until at least the mid-terms.

Barry’s ultimate goal however will not have to be shelved; and that is to continue spending and growing government. That in a nutshell, was always his eventual plan. What will he pull back on? Tax cuts of course; you didn’t really think you would see those did you?

Let The Appeasement Begin

Well it didn’t take long for Barry and his people to show their true colors on foreign policy. With the conflict in Gaza reaching almost two weeks, word comes out now that Barry and his people are ready to “talk” to Hamas. Nice, I guess the next thing we know Barry will have Iran, Syria, and Venezuela over for dinner on the night of the inauguration.

Obama promised to do things differently, saying he would even speak to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad if it would help. The one group he seemed least keen to meet was Hamas, placing clear and steep conditions on any dialogue. Indeed in April 2008 he slapped down former president Jimmy Carterfor meeting the Islamist movement. “We must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israel’s destruction,” Obama said. “We should only sit down with Hamas if they renounce terrorism, recognise Israel’s right to exist and abide by past agreements.”

If the latest signals are to be believed, Obama is now ready to soften the edges of those conditions. For those who believe that, whether we like it or not, Hamas is now part of the Palestinian reality and that no peace can ever come unless all the major players on both sides – Israeli and Palestinian – are included, this is a small, unofficial, unconfirmed but welcome move in the right direction.

This quote is from a piece by Jonathan Freedland of the Guardian, and he couldn’t be happier. The libs and the media think that the only way to obtain peace is to “talk” with all sides. Well, the way I see it there are only two sides, the right side and the wrong side; and peace is never won by talking to the wrong side. Peace comes by victory, victory over the enemy. No matter how many flowery words are used, if your on the wrong side you need to be dealt with. Hamas needs to be dealt with, and not at the negotiating table. Hamas needs to be dealt with on the battlefield.

We’re not going to get that with Barry or the Democrats. They are going to reverse Bush policy, which was to isolate Hamas, as fast as humanly possible, even if it’s the wrong thing for the country. They will negotiate with terrorists, they will throw Israel under the bus, and they will do it by saying it is best for the country. Let’s talk to Bin-Laden while we’re at it.

This isn’t funny anymore, it just got really serious. Hatred for George W. Bush has just become dangerous.

Not the Time for Jeb

I once really relished the idea of Jeb Bush in the White House; but now it seems as if the media has wounded W to the point that any run by the former Florida Governor might be in vain. I still think that Jeb Bush is a great leader, with charisma, charm, and smarts. The only problem is he is the younger brother of one of the most despised (by the media and the left) Presidents in history.

Gov. Bush was specualting about running for a senate seat in Florida that will be vacated by Mel Martinez in 2010. Just like the speculation that Governor Palin could possibly run for senate in Alaska, which I think would be a mistake, Bush needs to remain in the private sector and let things shake out a bit; Palin needs to remain in the Governor’s mansion. Bush put the speculation to bed today when he announced that he would not run for senate.

“We must rebuild the Party by focusing on the common purposes and core conservative principles that unite us all — limited government, a strong national defense and safe homeland and the protection of liberty tempered by personal responsibility,” Bush said.

Great quote from the Governor, seems as if he’s been reading The 5000 Year Leap or “gasp”……….the constitution. I think Jeb Bush does have a bright future with the Republican party. He, along with Palin, Jindal, Michael Steele and others are going to be the key to winning the soul of this country back; but as much as it pains me to say, deciding not to run for senate was the right move. The Bush name just doesn’t carry the weight it once did. Not right now.

Israel’s Rock And Hardplace

As the world bemoans and cries about Israel’s invasion of Gaza, which has to happen by the way, Israel itself finds that it is in a precarious position. It’s main objective is to hunt down and kill members of Hamas, but it’s secondary objective is to pacify the world community. A problem not unlike the one we faced when we first went into Iraq.

Back in 2003 when ground forces went into Iraq, you could still hear the squealing and the dirge of anti-war, or better said, anti-Bush activists in the streets of major cities all across the country. The common theme was that we were going to kill innocent civilians, and damage an innocent country that had nothing to do with 9/11 or Al-Qaeda. So, in caving to the PC police, we waged a not so smart, house to house campaign which resulted in being bogged down for longer than expected. The insurgents were able to regroup, reload, and hit us hard from time to time, much to the pleasure of the MSM and the liberal democrats. Iraq had become Vietnam. Now that that is all but over, the media has a new Vietnam……or should I say Iraq template: Gaza.

Israel not only has to worry about the actual threat of Hamas terrorists, but it has to worry about the ensuing backlash of civilian casualties that will and have already occurred. The term “excessive force” is already being used on blogs and news outlets allover. This is of course the term that is used when A bigger, stronger, country decides to defend itself; like we did after 9/11.

Israel has the right to invade Gaza, to protect it’s people, and it’s sovereignty, just as we had and have the right to do the same. The fact that Hamas hides behind women, children, schools, and other civilian targets makes no difference. One day the bilge that spews from the left, may acknowledge this fact; but I doubt it.

My hope is that the only rock and hardplace Israel faces is the one I have just described, and not one of the terrorist organization of Hamas and a newly elected administration who’s loyalty to Israel is yet to be determined.

Crying In The Wilderness

I am one of those unfortunate souls who used to call a red state home; but through the process of an election, that is no longer the case, we are now as blue as can be. I didn’t move, but my state has. I call the great state of North Carolina home; borderline southern, Bible belt, family values and all of that. But something has happened over the course of several years; the libs have taken over, insanity reigns in the tar heel state.

North Carolina, especially the region in which I call home, the mountains, is a very laid back kind of folk. You keep to yourself and I’ll keep to mine, don’t mess with me and I won’t mess with you. But that has been replaced by, good old boy politics (democrat style), elitism in the east, as well as a haven for illegal immigration and homosexuals especially in Asheville where I lay my head.

Let me expound on these premises for just a minute from my perspective. In Hendersonville, a small town about 25 miles from Asheville, illegal immigration has been a problem for some time. It probably started because of the migrant workers who came here every season to pick apples. I have no problem with that per say, but somewhere along the way, they began to take root. And now North Carolina is one of the top destinations for illegal’s from Mexico. With a huge population of “undocumented workers”, as the liberals like to say, problems with schools, healthcare, and basic services are only going to get worse. Of course the democrats favorite solution to any problem is to throw money at it; my money, your money, anybody’s money they can get a hold of.

Secondly, Asheville has become a destination for all kinds of strange, and how should I say, “progressive” lifestyles. Asheville is a hotbed for homosexuals, it has been dubbed little San Francisco. I don’t know exactly when this invasion started but it has happened none the less. Asheville is surrounded by conservative small towns all over, but within the city limits, and of course starting to creep outward is a new age, bohemian, tree hugger, liberal mindset which is conducive to the homosexual and other types of “progressive” lifestyles. This is not the town I grew up in.

And last but not least I think the real culprit here is the corrupt type of state government that we have here. North Carolina, despite being a red state for many years, has been run on the state level by democrats for some time. This has led to high taxes, low education, and businesses leaving the state in droves. Certain political figures have been stopped, (Jim Black) former speaker of the house to name one big fish that got fried, but we have just endured eight years with a horrible administration, that has been rewarded with the election of his lieutenant governor to the governor’s mansion. On the national level, Elizabeth Dole, who I think was one of the few conservative champions we had in the U.S. Senate was ousted. I ask myself why, and conversations with residents all over give me the answer; I’m a democrat they say, my family has always voted democrat, and I will always vote democrat. This is the kind of thinking that has North Carolina, once a stronghold for republican presidential candidates, seeing red, and turning blue.

Catch 22: Immigration Raid Insures Unionization of Workforce

For years The United Food and Commercial Workers union had tried to organize Smithfield Foods to no avail. With the greatest opposition to the union being hispanic workers. Then, all of a sudden back in August there was a major raid on the plant and most of the hispanic workers were rounded up and sent packing for being illegal aliens. In December, the vote to unionize was approved. How convenient.

What’s the catch 22? Shoring up one voting block by having another deported. Oh well, you can’t have everything.

UN Security Council, Useless

The United Nations Security council convened yesterday to …….well, I’m not sure what they were trying to do. Well anyway, brings back memories of all of the failed resolutions that were imposed against Saddam Hussein. Let’s see, something like 18 resolutions to disarm, all ignored. Then all of the deliberating and hand ringing while weapons were hidden and smuggled to who knows where.

So now the Arab nations demand that the security council do something; something about Israel’s excessive attacks on Gaza. And if you happen to reprimand the other side, a terrorist group, then fine; but you had better do something about Israel.

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 31 (Reuters) – Arab countries called an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday to debate the violence in Gaza, demanding in a draft resolution an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants.

The evening session adjourned without a vote being called and diplomats said negotiations would be held in coming days over the draft, which Western delegates described as unbalanced and focusing almost entirely on Israel’s actions.

The resolution, presented by Libya, called for “an immediate ceasefire and for its full respect by both sides.” It also demanded protection for Palestinian civilians, opening border crossings into Gaza and “restoration of calm in full.”

It denounced “the excessive, disproportionate and indiscriminate use of force by Israel” but its only mention of Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel was a vague reference to “the deterioration of the situation in southern Israel.”

Any resolution that would come out of the security council would not be worth the paper it was written on. I’m sure it would be biased against Israel, and barely mention the fact that Hamas is actually to blame for this current situation. Hamas is to blame for any civilian casualties in Palestine. This is what happens when people who claim that they want to live free in a state of their own, do not disavow ties to a terrorist group. Or allow said terrorist group to perpetrate a lie, that they care about the people, when all they really care about is fighting and killing Jews.

I think the security council should come up with a resolution, which states that the Israeli people should be able to live in their sovereign country without the threat of daily rocket attacks, or suicide bombs by a terrorist group posing as a country. Fat chance of that.

Media Slams Palin, Again

If you can stomach it, check out this story from the Washington Post about the birth of Sarah Palin’s grandson. The story is almost completely full of negative smears towards everyone involved. Sorry Post, sorry we’re not as good as you are!

Bristol Palin gave birth to her much-anticipated baby son on Sunday, People.com reported this evening.

The first grandchild of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, weighing in at seven pounds, four ounces.

When it was announced shortly after Gov. Palin was named John McCain‘s running mate that her teenage daughter was expecting, it triggered national debates on teen pregnancy and marriage, abstinence education, the VP vetting process, the privacy of political families and, well, just about everything.

Bristol Palin is 18, as is her boyfriend of three years, Levi Johnston, a former high school hockey player. Both have dropped out of high school — she to complete her diploma through correspondence courses, People reports, and he to become an apprentice electrician, he told the AP this fall. They have said they plan to marry in 2009. (Johnston’s mother Sherry was arrestedearlier this month on felony drug charges for allegedly selling OxyContin.)

Colleen Jones, who is the governor’s aunt, confirmed the news of the baby’s birth to People. “We think it’s wonderful,” she said. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

In this short story that should have been about nothing but the birth of a child, they managed to down Palin for damaging McCain’s campaign, Bristol and her fiance, Levi Johnston,  for having a child out of wedlock and dropping out of school, and Johnston’s mother for being arrested on drug charges. Don’t you just love their little hit pieces disguised as news?

The Rise Of “Putinism”

One of Russia’s biggest television stations has been conducting a poll for much of this year trying to find out who is the  greatest Russian of all time. From an original list of 500, it is now down to the top 12.

The former Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin may have killed millions of his own people but this weekend he could be chosen by Russians as their greatest-ever countryman.

Of course you can always forgive a socialist, a communist, or a democrat; you just can’t forgive a conservative. Who would win in a year long poll in America? Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, or Ben Franklin? Probably not, the winner would undoubtedly be someone like FDR or JFK, or even Martin Luther King Jr.

In the summer he held the number one slot but was knocked down several places after the producer of the show appealed to viewers to vote for someone else.

Amongst the others on the list are Ivan the Terrible, Lenin, Catherine the Great and Alexander Pushkin.

You ask a silly question like why would Russia go through the trouble of allowing a man like Joseph Stalin to possibly be honored in such a way? Well you have to look no further than the current power structure in Russia.

This new idealogy is called “Putinism“, which is a harsh form of nationalism; meaning you need to be proud of Russia and everything that it stands for no matter what.

It seems Russians are to be proud of their history, not ashamed, and so those investigating and cataloguing the atrocities of the past are no longer welcome.

“The official line now is that Stalin and the Soviet regime were successful in creating a great country,” says Irina Flige.

“And if the terror of Stalin is justified, then the government today can do what it wants to achieve its aims.”

Vladimir Putin is certainly looking for a way to justify actions like last summers invasion of Georgia; and now with a possibly weaker United States, he will not have us as a great threat to his thirst for power. Why do I say we are weaker? Obama never clearly condemned Putin and Russia for being the aggressors in the Georgian conflict; Bushes White House did. Bush catches a lot of slack for befriending Putin, but it looks like he was going by the old adage, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

It will be interesting to see if Obama will take a hard stance with Putin, or if he will play footsie with him. Make no mistake, Russia is under the control of the KGB, it only remains to be seen how the incoming administration will handle our “ally” in the old Soviet capitol.

What Was Rick Warren Supposed To Do?

Hypothetically let’s pretend that you are the pastor of a 15000 member church in California. Let’s also pretend that you are the author of one of the best selling books of all time; and you are becoming one of the most widely recognized preachers behind only maybe Billy Graham.

Now let’s pretend the President-elect of the United States, a guy who you probably disagree with on 95% of the issues facing America, and a guy you probably didn’t even vote for, calls you up and says “Excuse me pastor, would you mind giving the invocation at my historical inaugural?

dumprickwarrren

Hypothetically, what would you do? Say “No thanks, I wouldn’t want to offend anybody.” Get real. Sometimes these left wing, militant, fascist types just don’t use common sense, now do they?

Cheney Worst Veep Ever?

A new CNN poll says that 23% of Americans think that Vice-President Dick Cheney is the worst that has ever held the position. You know the bible says to be wary when all men speak well of you. Cheney is a guy who seems to live by that creed. That’s why I’m with the 1% polled who think that he is probably the best Vice-President that this country has ever had.

“Cheney still has a lot of fans in the Republican Party. Most Republicans nationwide said Cheney had been a good veep,” Holland said. “But six in 10 independents and eight in 10 Democrats gave Cheney a rating of ‘poor’ or ‘worst ever.’ “

Let’s see, if 60% of independents and 80% of Democrats rate Cheney as poor or the worst ever, I’m definitely going with the 1%.

In an interview Sunday, Cheney said he was not troubled by polls suggesting he was unpopular.

“I’m very comfortable with where we are and what we achieved substantively. And frankly, I would not want to be one of those guys who spends all his time reading the polls. I think people like that shouldn’t serve in these jobs,” Cheney said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, with 1,013 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey’s sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

That’a boy Dick, stick it in their ear on your way out the door; just like you would expect him to. Cheney is exactly the kind of guy we need making the tough decisions on the tough issues. I’m going to miss him.

Barry’s Stimulus Package Gets Bigger

Back in October before he was elected President, Obama had a projected stimulus of about $175 billion dollars. That has grown now to somewhere between $675-775 billion over the next two years.

Obama’s team is crafting a massive new economic stimulus package to reach his revised job goal. Though the president-elect has declined to specify the amount, transition aides told Capitol Hill staff last week that the plan may cost $675 billion to $775 billion over two years.

Those numbers far exceed the more modest stimulus package Obama laid out during the campaign, underscoring a growing worry that the economy is in a tailspin. As recently as mid-October, Obama was touting a stimulus of about $175 billion.

Summarizing the incoming administration’s view, Vice President-elect Joe Bidensaid in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos to air Sunday that the economy is at risk of “absolutely tanking.”

Now the narrative has already begun, the economy is worse than we knew. Bush sucks more than we thought he did. We have to spend more money than projected, entitlement programs must be expanded. Scare tactics are being employed as we speak; you are going to lose your job, and unless we spend another $700 billion, and increase entitlements you will end up out on the street.

Why can’t we cut corporate, income, and business taxes to stimulate the economy? Every time it’s tried it works; Barry and the dems refuse to believe that Bush’s tax cuts are what saved us from financial collapse after 9/11. We were in recession, our financial markets took a pounding, the stock market lost about 4ooo points and the economy recovered.

We cannot spend our way out of debt or out of a recession as Barney Frank (D) from Massachusetts seems to think we can. The Democrats are looking at this financial meltdown right now and licking their chops. They see deficit spending on the horizon and nobody is going to tell them no, especially after January 20th.

Obama’s plans to revive the economy hinge on passage of his stimulus package, which Congress plans to take up Jan. 6. Though he has the votes in the House, the Senate is another matter. Republicans could delay or derail it with a filibuster.

Republican leaders have voiced skepticism about the stimulus, warning that there must be a thorough public vetting of a bill that costs so much. They’ve also vowed to oppose any plan that includes pork-barrel projects meant to reward special interests. source: Chicago Tribune

Don’t be fooled, the Republicans may be able to hold this stimulus off for another few weeks, but after the 20th all bets are off. And any stimulus package that goes through will be absolutely saturated with pork barrel projects in Democratic districts all over the country; and a few rino districts to boot.

Congress needs to cut taxes, employers need to be able to afford to keep more of their employees on the payroll, period.
