Not the Time for Jeb

I once really relished the idea of Jeb Bush in the White House; but now it seems as if the media has wounded W to the point that any run by the former Florida Governor might be in vain. I still think that Jeb Bush is a great leader, with charisma, charm, and smarts. The only problem is he is the younger brother of one of the most despised (by the media and the left) Presidents in history.

Gov. Bush was specualting about running for a senate seat in Florida that will be vacated by Mel Martinez in 2010. Just like the speculation that Governor Palin could possibly run for senate in Alaska, which I think would be a mistake, Bush needs to remain in the private sector and let things shake out a bit; Palin needs to remain in the Governor’s mansion. Bush put the speculation to bed today when he announced that he would not run for senate.

“We must rebuild the Party by focusing on the common purposes and core conservative principles that unite us all — limited government, a strong national defense and safe homeland and the protection of liberty tempered by personal responsibility,” Bush said.

Great quote from the Governor, seems as if he’s been reading The 5000 Year Leap or “gasp”……….the constitution. I think Jeb Bush does have a bright future with the Republican party. He, along with Palin, Jindal, Michael Steele and others are going to be the key to winning the soul of this country back; but as much as it pains me to say, deciding not to run for senate was the right move. The Bush name just doesn’t carry the weight it once did. Not right now.

I Disagree - Jeb Needed To Run for Senate Now

While it would be insanity for either Palin or Jindal to run for Senate (compared to their current jobs, it would be a dead end), Jeb Bush, as a retired Governor, is in a total different position.

If he had any chance of being elected President, he needed to run for Senate now:

1. His name ID and popularity in FL are as high as they’re ever going to be,

2. Segments of the party would feel like they “owe” him for keeping a tough open seat in GOP hands.

3. It would keep his national exposure high, exactly what he needs to sustain a run for President.

In not running for Senate, the only thing I can conclude is that Jeb never intends to run for President.

Because, if he did, pretty much his only chance was to run for Senate now (in 2010)…

Why is the GOP having such bad recruitment lately for Senate Races?

Jeb would of been the best candidate for us now we are going to have a real fight on our hand holding this seat unless Gov Crist runs for it.

Jeb should have run for the Senate.

He had a good shot of winning, and we really needed a conservative voice there now.

I’m disappointed.

And I would’ve supported him for POTUS as well.

The problem with America is stupidity. I’m not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don’t we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

To me it shows that the real reason that people run for office is to obtain POWER not to serve the country. Will we get any good people to run in 2010?

Obama said in 2006 he wasn't running for President nt
