If you wanted to know how Barry is going to govern, you only need to look at the report that has appeared only one day after an interview with George Stephanopoulos on the Sunday talk show This Week, where Obama disclosed much to the chagrin of left wing loonies, that closing the Guantanamo Bay prison facility, a point of contention with Bush haters for years, would be difficult to do in his first 100 days.
OBAMA: It is more difficult than I think a lot of people realizeand we are going to get it done but part of the challenge that you have is that you have a bunch of folks that have been detained, many of whom who may be very dangerous who have not been put on trial or have not gone through some adjudication. And some of the evidence against them may be tainted even though it’s true. And so how to balance creating a process that adheres to rule of law, habeas corpus, basic principles of Anglo American legal system, by doing it in a way that doesn’t result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So not necessarily first 100 days.
OBAMA: That’s a challenge. I think it’s going to take some time and our legal teams are working in consultation with our national security apparatus as we speak to help design exactly what we need to do. But I don’t want to be ambiguous about this. We are going to close Guantanamo and we are going to make sure that the procedures we set up are ones that abide by our constitution. That is not only the right thing to do but it actually has to be part of our broader national security strategy because we will send a message to the world that we are serious about our values.
So like clockwork the ACLU and other human rights groups criticized Barry for his remarks, and like clockwork, Barry caved.
The president-elect drew criticism from some human rights groups Monday who said his remarks suggested that closing Guantánamo was not among the new administration’s highest priorities. But even if the detention camp remains open for months, the decision to address Guantánamo on the day after his inauguration seemed intended to make a symbolic break with some of the most controversial policies of the Bush administration.
President-elect Barack Obama plans to issue an executive order on his first full day in office ordering the closing of the Guantánamo Bay detention camp in Cuba, people briefed by Obama transition officials said Monday.
Let me get this straight Barry, Gitmo’ will be closed, but it won’t happen in the first 100 days because it is harder than expected; but the ACLU didn’t like what you said so the first thing your going to do in office is issue an executive order to close the prison that holds a couple hundred of the most dangerous terrorists and America haters in the world? Thanks for clearing that up.
So left wing cooks everywhere, listen up. All you have to do if Barry says something you disagree with, is to complain just loud enough so his handlers will get in his ear about it, and then he will immediately reverse or hurry his decision to satisfy or should I say pacify you. We already know that he relies on polls and focus groups to make policy decisions, now we know he will rely on the menstrual cycle of the loony left as well.
I’m really starting to admire all over again the hard stances made by the Bush administration, even those I disagreed with. I suppose we should get used to sound or not so sound policy decisions made by the seat of Barry’s pants. Pretty frightening.

The O has a history of this

Who next? Erick asked the same question back in that old diary. The question still stands.
Decorum is fo’ suckas - unless it’s one of the good guys
It's completely typical of his "leadership"
bk Tuesday, January 13th at 5:48AM EST (link)He’ll issue an executive order immediately to close it … some day.
As a candidate he claimed to have a specific plan to fix anything and everything. Now that he’s elected he’s saying don’t really expect any improvements for a couple years at least.
I can’t recall any president who promised so much and then backtracked so fast. He makes Clinton’s middle class tax cut broken promise look like child’s play.
Reminds me of the Clintons when

I guess he will close it, after he wouldn’t close it for a while, after he would close it.
Kerry would be proud.

The solution for Obama is to move the detainees

Then Barack could say he closed Gitmo, he could rebrand “torture” tactics as “persuasion” tactics, and the press would praise him for it.
That would be To Go
