Below is the text of an email sent to the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren. It’s a short note of support and encouragement. It may not be much to counteract the snubs of the Obama Administration, but it’s something. After reading my short missive, if you too are inclined to write, then here’s the email of the Israeli Embassy: info@washington.mfa.gov.il

Dear Ambassador Michael Oren:

I wanted to take the time to convey my support for your nation amidst what can only be fairly described as an ongoing, consistently high state of existential threat. Israel is a free democracy in the middle of an area historically dominated by despots and extremists steeped in a death cult mentality. I, as an American, appreciate your country’s struggle to uphold the same values I too hold dear: life, liberty, prosperity, security, and peace.

I am also ashamed of the Obama Administration’s stance toward the state of Israel. To attempt some sort of neutral position in the Palestinian conflict is, in reality, to pick a side . . . and in the case of the Obama Administration, it’s the wrong one. Adopting a supposed neutrality in the face of great evil (and what else could you possibly call suicide bombers who think they’ll merit heaven through the slaughter of innocents?) is short sighted and plainly immoral.

Please also know that my support for Israel has nothing to do with religion or race. Here in the United States it’s embarrassingly common to be labeled either a racist or a religious zealot because of one’s support for Israel. It’s nothing but a cheap and juvenile attack meant to silence. In the United States, those who attack Israel are afraid of the truth, for it is not in their favor; hence, the slurs of “racist” and “religious zealot”. Mr. Ambassador, I support Israel because Israel is in the right and faces opponents whose debauchery is only matched by their ruthlessness. Race and religion have nothing to do with it. Again, I support your nation because it is a beacon of life and liberty standing athwart hostile forces who wish to enslave man to an ideology inimical to freedom.
