Kwame Kilpatrick wants to go to Denver

Mary Ann Akers of the WashPost’s The Sleuth blog tells us that not only is Detroit’s suspected-felon Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick a Dem superdelegate, but he also wants to lose his ankle bracelet so he can go to Denver with the rest of the Dem conventioneers.

Asked whether the mayor will be attending the Denver convention, Kilpatrick spokeswoman Denise Tolliver told the Sleuth, “We’re not sure yet.” She said the mayor was waiting to see what happens on Thursday, when he’s scheduled to be arraigned on felony charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, and on Friday, when he’s due to appear in court on separate assault charges.

“He would have to get permission from the judge” in order to travel to Denver, Tolliver said. “I know that is something [his attorneys] are working on now.”

I think he ought to go. Put him on the stage with the nominee.

Perhaps Mayor Kilpatrick and John Edwards can compare notes, and if they let Kilpatrick in, they ought to let Edwards attend.

Once again, I’m just sayin’.

(I stare across the aisle, folks, and this is what I see.)

maybe the judge can just assign a few sheriff’s deputies to accompany the mayor? They’d look good, standing next to hizzoner on the floor, as he casts his vote for the Obamessiah. That way, he could get the tether off his ankle for a while, and go hang out with Dollar Bill and Obie and the rest, maybe get some tips on loans from Chris Dodd and Kent Conrad. Everyone knows that Michigan and Detroit needs the kind of help that the dems can provide. No, wait, that’s what got them and us in the mess we’re in.

support for any given thug out there, no matter how bad his crimes, it would be discriminatory of them to deny this man his opportunity.

Not to mention their devoted attempts to get voting rights for every felon they can find, as well as the felons that have been employed in their voting registration efforts via ACORN. So, yes, by all means, this man should be allowed to speak. Edwards, too, and Spitzer, and any other moral degenerate they can put on a plane to Denver. And maybe they can put William Jefferson in charge of the money raised during the convention. They trust him, don’t they?

So is he for Obama or Clinton? (nt)

Update: Judge Gives Permission for Kilpatrick to Go

Judge: Mayor limited to Wayne Co., but can attend convention

As the Wayne County prosecutor rushes to the Michigan Court of Appeals trying to overturn a judge’s ruling allowing Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to attend the Democratic National Convention, the Free Press has just learned that the judge who approved the trip has imposed stricter travel restrictions on Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Leonard Townsend earlier this morning ruled that the mayor may attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month and may take off his electronic tether, but in a decision that may surprise even Kilpatrick’s attorneys, Townsend said the mayor otherwise may not leave Wayne County.

Not so far: Second judge nixes Detroit mayor trip to Denver

As the Free Press notes, the second judge is “presiding over two felony assault charges filed last week against Kilpatrick for allegedly shoving a sheriff’s deputy who was trying to serve a subpoena in a separate criminal perjury case that evolved from the mayor’s text message scandal.”

or at least if he goes, he shouldn’t be a “distraction”.

If Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick decides to go to the Democratic National Convention in Denver in 10 days, he would be a distraction from the historic nomination of Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive nominee’s campaign said today.

Lift up that bus,

Right this way Mr. Kilpatrick, we have your reservation under the bus. Really, he wouldn’t be anymore of a distraction than presumptive Secretary of State Clooney, or the best president they’ve ever had to re-make, Jimmah Carter.
Now, the Michigan Dems are back-door begging Kwame to step down before Jennifer is forced to act on his criminal activities. Poor Kwame is being thrown under a bunch of buses.
