Let’s party in the center with Senator Anonymous!

(sarcasm for the sad)

Unnamed Senator talks to Roger Simon of Politico.com:

“I don’t think we have learned much from the election in terms of what people want to see,” he says. “We have the same gridlock.”

By the “same gridlock,” he means that party hard-liners, both Democrats and Republicans, will remain in control of the machinery of Congress. And that means more of the same. It means more politics as usual — especially in his party.

“We need someone who speaks from the center,” he says. “Sarah Palin is not the voice of our party.”

You lament is typical of your ilk, Senator Collins, Specter, Snowe… or whomever. Gordon Smith is still there, as is that Chuck Hagel guy from Nebraska, but they’re both on the way out. Linc Chafee’s been gone. Your breed is a dying breed, electorally: the watery Republican. Where have you gone, Lowell Weicker, Senator Anonymous turns his lonely eyes to you.

Boo-hoo-hoo.

Senator Anonymous’ issue is immigration, and he seems concerned about the Hispanic vote. (Mel Martinez? Oh, I’ll lay off the guessing game.)

Small government — the mantra of the Republican Party ever since Ronald Reagan — will not work anymore, the senator says.

“We can’t revive the ghost of Ronald Reagan,” he says. “People want government in times of need.”

Senator Anonymous is a David Brooks Republican.

Do they ask: If the Republican Party jettisons its call for small government and lower taxes, it is what? What is the GOP if not dedicated to a limited but effective form of government? I’ll answer: it’s an empty party which stands for nothing of note. Why has our party been beaten heavily about its head and torso in the last two general elections? Because Republicans were apparently taking the advice of Senator Anonymous, governing like Senator Anonymous would have them govern.

As for the “ghost of Ronald Reagan,” as your term the ideas at the core of the party of which you profess to be a member, please remember that Ronald Reagan had a spine. Ronald Reagan believed in a set of principles and he discussed them. He courted votes in that way, not by deciding that one can no longer win elections unless he endorses gals marrying gals and guys melting the globe.

Ronald Reagan’s ghost is a Republican. You, Senator, are free to leave the party if you do not like that for which we stand.

Not a conservative

gekster (Diary) Monday, November 24th at 9:28PM EST (link)

If this were a true conservative Republican, then it would not be anonymous. You should have the courage of your convictions. Right or wrong, you shold stand by your statements.
And when did Uncle Ronnie ever, I mean EVER not say who, or what, or why he believed in what he believed or did. He never appolagized to any one for his deeds and beliefs.
Our answer is not to merge to the left, like alot of “anonymous,” Republican people are saying.
Our move should and must be to stand to the right. Is there realy any other way? I will SHOUT I don’t think so.
And I will also say that Conservative Republicans better get the “Excuse me ladies,” balls to start being half of the man Reagan was. When we start to be afraid of what others will say and think of us, I believe we will be lost, as McLooser surely was.

They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.
If they need more voters,
then they have to make more of who they are for.

We are there in the various Tea Party groups, leaderless, but not rudderless.

Anonymously Idiotic

traversecityconservative (Diary) Monday, November 24th at 10:21PM EST (link)

We want gridlock – that means Republicans actually stick to their ideals and convictions. Sarah Palin (and Jindal) are the ONLY voices of our party.

And as for people wanting government in times of need – NO. Only lazy socialist liberals. Conservatives want NO GOVERNMENT. Get a clue, Bozo. We are getting rid of your kind.

Out of Touch

Whitehorse (Diary) Monday, November 24th at 10:24PM EST (link)

Hall & Oates are an under-rated musical group. Their song “Out of Touch” comes to mind with senator anon. He’s out of touch, & out of time.

I wonder where he’s been? He certainly is not talking about our leadership, which here to fore has embraced big government. Is he talking about those of us pesky ones in the base?

I believe sen. anon. sees the writing on the wall. The embrace of big government & fiscal recklessness cost us control of the House, Senate, & White House from 06-08. His or her embrace of this is the problem, & the solution will be Republican leaders emerging who are bold-color conservatives, those who embrace our winning & right platform of limited government, fiscal responsibility, strong national security, & conservative social values. Sen. anon. & others like him will lose power in the party. It pains me to see those who would rather lead a weak minority than be part of a strong majority.

We're Different for a Reason

Whitehorse (Diary) Monday, November 24th at 10:27PM EST (link)

We are better than the wailing fringe on the left. Sen. McCain is not a limited government fiscally responsible conservative. He is, however, a genuine patriot who loves his country though he is wrong on issues. Making a snide comment out of his name is unbecoming.

republican? No. Recreant? yes.

well well well…he’s been on a single minded mission to destroy her since she was announced…as for Senator Anonymous…let’s not leave out the possibility that he is none other than our esteemed nominee of 2008 or his lap dog Lindsey!

I am so tired of these cowards that claim to be Republicans. Another shot at Sarah Palin, please. Reagan had convictions, and he stood by them. He was willing to make the difficult choices, to fight the good fight.
It is time to clean house of these cowards.

“They say the world has become too complex for simple answers. They are wrong. There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.” Ronald Reagan

I doubt it's McCain......

Andy Smith (Diary) Tuesday, November 25th at 1:06AM EST (link)

….because McCain knew without Sarah Palin, we could have potentially seen a Ronald Reagan-like landslide win for Barack Obama. Plus, disagree with him on the issues if you would like, but I don’t think he’s a backstabber.
I agree with what someone else said earlier, anonymous means you’re a coward. If you think you have the answers for the Republicans, then speak up.
Personally, I think it’s someone who got ousted this time aroud; maybe John Sununu, Gordon Smith, maybe even Ted Stevens.

There is the mistaken belief that the Republican Party needs to moderate to win. In fact, we had a (highly) moderate candidate this election and the actual conservatives stayed home or wrote in someone.

As the Republican Party becomes more moderate, it becomes indistinguishable from the Democratic Party. We’re getting closer every day.

Sounds to me like Senator Lindsey Graham.

I never want to hear again of bipartisanship. The only time I want a Republican “reaching across the aisle” is to smack a liberal.

Gov. Sanford on H&C tonight, naming all the “stars” of the GOP: Jindal, Crist (yeah right), Pawlenty, etc… finally Sean said Sarah Palin? his reply:

Oh!, yeah, her too…

what a bunch of elitist jerks.

Specter?

Beware the 4 years of smearing Palin and be wary of “conservatives” who rise up to oppose her. We can’t afford another 3 way split of the conservative vote. We need to settle on Palin or Jindal early.

If Palin does her homework she needs to be the face of the party hands down. You can’t teach charisma. She has all the natural gifts she just needs to learn the plays. If conservatives allow her to be butchered by the RINO’s and New World Order moderates on both sides we’ll be getting another crappy RINO in conservative clothing.

I am quickly coming

youthgrunt (Diary) Tuesday, November 25th at 10:31AM EST (link)

on board with the Jindal/Palin or Palin/Jindal ticket. Probably Palin as Pres for the simple reason that she has now been through the grinder once and knows what to expect and would also know how to handle (or not handle) a VP candidate.

But first things first. Conservative Senators and Representatives in 2010.

What we need is more Republican mush,

johnt Tuesday, November 25th at 10:32AM EST (link)

more groveling before Democrats, more apologies for being alive, more cowering before a mindless, half insane media [think of Gail Collins], more sniveling, poor copy cat, lame imitations of the party that will continue to thrash us in the absence of both spine and principle.
The Democrats at least are guided by their lust for power and a passionate desire to cause misery, it’s a program of sorts.

I’m not commenting on John McCain the war patriot. I have the utmost respect for him, being a fellow vet.

I’m commenting on McLooser, who ran a half-canned campaign.

I can differentiate between the two.

I also started calling him McLooser after I heard his concession speech. It was a sum up of his loosing run.
I also don’t see too many conservative values in him. Please point them out for me.
When he named Sarah Palin his running mate, I thought he was on the right track. He then started to stifle her, listened to what others were saying about her, and hid her. She didn’t give to many interviews because she was stopped by the campaign.
She was too conservative for him, I guesse.
I say a big mistake.

And I don’t think calling someone a name that they’ve earned a snide remark.
If it’s unbecoming, then all right, call me unbecoming.

They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.
If they need more voters,
then they have to make more of who they are for.
