We have been instructed by Newt to stop talking stop including Obama in the Cook County Political Mafia (Daley-Blago-Obama-”Rahmbo”-etc). We must leave Barack alone and allow him to transcend our lives and vanquish our sufferings.
In a time when America is facing real challenges, Republicans should be working to help the incoming President succeed in meeting them, regardless of his Party.
From now until the inaugural, Republicans should be offering to help the President-elect prepare to take office.
If the man and/or his cronies are corrupt, the tale must be told. The ends do not justify the means, Newt.
Likewise, if the man with his cronies wishes to lead our country down the path which leads to oppression, the story has to be broadcast.
I understand the high road, Newt, and the push for civility, and I back the sentiment in the instances it is deserved and to the extent it deserves. This could be too serious for the sloppy bandaid.
[CAUTION: The vid might contain an indecorous word or two.]

Newt is Right on this one.
Section9 Tuesday, December 16th at 4:15PM EST (link)Look. Newt got burned, badly, by a President with access to the Bully Pulpit. He also understands that the entire MSM has a huge investment in this guy and is not going to undermine him with some bad mojo from Chicago.
He’s right. And Patrick Fitzgerald is not going to pull our ashes out of the fire, so to speak. What troubles Obama has with the Outfit in Cook County doesn’t relieve Republicans from the obligation to come up with reasonable, policy-based options to Obama’s spending proposals.
Accentuating the negative will get us nowhere. This may not be fair, but it is what it is.

I see his point, but nobody made Obama pick "Rahmbo."

Unless somebody did, I guess.
Anyway, you can’t talk about Blago without bringing up Emanuel, and you can’t talk about Emanuel without bringing up Obama, and there’s enough meat on this story to justify that line of speculation.
It’s Chicago, man.

Mark Kilmer Tuesday, December 16th at 4:56PM EST (link)Listen: We have to have policy alternatives when Obama offers the bad, but that is not the point. We owe it to the country to remind them of the cesspool from which the President-elect emerged if he chooses only to become further entangled by and with it. The Republicans have to be the opposition party not only on policy matters, but also the muck. We must oppose the muck.
Newt has another chance to be a leader in the GOP when the party needs them, but with his demand that the party lay down its arms, he risks blowing it again.
Revealing, publicizing the negative is our duty and can only help us in both the short and long terms. We must not be seen is having given a passes to scoundrels. This has to start, for now, with Blagojevich, but the shadow of doubt covers more than one governor.
This reply was to Section9.
Mark Kilmer Tuesday, December 16th at 4:58PM EST (link)Sorry, Moe.
There is a lot to these stories.
redneck_hippie Tuesday, December 16th at 11:33PM EST (link)And more stories are coming out.
Yesterday’s story was that Bill Richardson (cabinet-member elect) is involved in a NM pay to play investigation.
Well, what could we expect from an Office of The President Elect that is stuffing the administration and bureaucracy with Clinton retreads?

Steph C Tuesday, December 16th at 6:21PM EST (link)Sorry but civility is defined by the left along with everything else. We’re to accept every statement they utter as truth and if we question one part, we’re uncivil. I agree with the author on this one.
Obama needs to be challenged as does the rest of the federal government. If they want to call me uncivil for that, I, frankly, don’t care.
The problem is not a lack of civility but in who determines what is and isn’t civil by a set of rules that penalize the opposing side, us, by virtue of opposing them, not whether we did it civilly or rudely.

I like Newt generally, but he doesn't know what he's talking about here
Finrod Tuesday, December 16th at 4:40PM EST (link)Newt Gingrich also got blindsided by Bill Clinton’s permanent campaign. We may not like it, but that’s the way politics is now played in the 21st Century; the campaign is always going, and if we let up, we’ll be run over like Newt was.
Constant vigilance.

Newt -- yeah, let's continue the winning formula...
E Pluribus Unum Tuesday, December 16th at 5:07PM EST (link)First, NOTHING Obama plans to do is right for America, meaning that if we want to help America meet these serious challenges, we do it best by thwarting Obama.
A great way to thwart Obama is to keep him mired in the fetid swamp of Chicago Machine corruption scandal which he is certainly tainted.
Second, Newt, the time for the high road for Republicans is past. The enemy is ruthless, well-informed, well-funded, and 24×7 relentless. We have to go at them at every opportunity, and NEVER let the wounded live.

JLenardDetroit Tuesday, December 16th at 5:33PM EST (link)… you are just making yourself all the more irrelevant …
Pile it on to Obama (and ANY/EVERY Democrat) early and often…. This stuff isn’t going to get through the thick skulls of the mental-midget general American unwashed that had no clue (and didn’t care they had no clue) when they pulled that JackAss lever on Election day… We have to hope there are a FEW that can be reached eventually by continually reminding them of these Socialists actions/activities.

I think Newt has a point here
kowalski Tuesday, December 16th at 5:35PM EST (link)And this isn’t what Rush might call me pulling a Colin Powell, but I think that until Obama takes office and/or Fitzgerald and the FBI come up with something more substantive, the better part of wisdom is to let him take office and then pay very careful attention to all of his mistakes.
I’m not gun-shy when it comes to criticizing Democrats, but let’s face it: Obama’s past connections are either going to be a festering sore that only turns his whole Presidency gangrenous or they’re not — but there’s very little we have to say about that right now. Evidence is evidence. I’m sure if Fitzgerald has any, he’ll present it.
In the meantime, I’ll just say to Moe that I could have told anyone that Barack was going to pick Rahm Emanuel to be in his Administration at a very high level: it came as absolutely no surprise to me. I’d really like to know more about what’s on those tapes the FBI recorded that they didn’t put into the Blago indictment.
I don’t want to directly contradict you Moe, but I would just say: “Keep your powder dry on the Obama Administration…at least until he is inauqurated.”
Just sayin’.
On the other hand, I’m all for making fun of Barack Obama and his entire administration, and that video made me want to barf, and it also made me a little nauseous. Man, if you ever want to see people do that in real life, I can tell you a couple of places to hang out…

Addendum
kowalski Tuesday, December 16th at 5:46PM EST (link)Mark, I say this because in my experience, people who emerge from the Chicago womb with a history of making terrible mistakes and having big lapses of judgment ** never stop having them **. You can sweep one or two aside and grant them a second or even a third, or fourth life, but eventually the behavior catches up with them, and becomes too much for everyone else to bear.
In order for Barack Obama to show himself to be a truly false idol, he must fail on his own — not in connection with Blagojevich or his past in Chicago.

Newt is right on this.
Diogenes314 Tuesday, December 16th at 6:44PM EST (link)“Clearly, we should insist that all taped communications regarding the Senate seat should be made public. However, that should be a matter of public policy, not an excuse for political attack.
In a time when America is facing real challenges, Republicans should be working to help the incoming President succeed in meeting them, regardless of his Party.
From now until the inaugural, Republicans should be offering to help the President-elect prepare to take office.
Furthermore, once President Obama takes office, Republicans should be eager to work with him when he is right, and, when he is wrong, offer a better solution, instead of just opposing him.
This is the only way the Republican Party will become known as the “better solutions” party, not just an opposition party. And this is the only way Republicans will ever regain the trust of the voters to return to the majority.”

How about we instead use the powder as
Mark Kilmer Tuesday, December 16th at 7:23PM EST (link)it becomes available? We can’t wait outside Boston for some Colonel Knows to show up with confiscated artillery; we have to fire justly. Our cause becomes stronger and more opportunities arise.
To me, Alex, this is about the future even more than it is the immediate politics of the early 21st century. By striking the Chicago connection now, we remind voters of who will sit in the White House. More important, though, we keep our own troops inspired. You’ve seen the responses in this thread. Do you want these people to do as Newt suggests, to wait around to make policy suggestions? No, these are the forces that will win or lose an election. They are angry about this Obama-Blago-Rahmbo bit, and they want the issue pushed. Remember that many people were fired up by Newt in the mid-90s, because Newt fought.
We should not sit on our hands until Obama and Pelosi have implemented their vision, only to say: “Well, Mr. President & Madame Speaker, we respectfully disagree with you, because we’re the loyal opposition.” We should not sit on our hands while our Executive Branch is run by Chicago machine politicians. With this going on, I find myself actually pining for change and hope.?
