Just in case Obama needs reminding, this is AMERICA!

Ok, I don’t write many diaries because I’m not very good at it and, frankly, don’t have a lot of extra time on my hands, but recently I feel compelled to express some things that have been too outrageous not to comment on.

First of all, in light of all the comments from Van Jones, Robert Reich, Anita Dunn(H/T Moe Lane*), Kevin Jennings, John Holdren, and Obama himself (among many others), along with the push for socialized medicine, one would have to be practically blind NOT to see the direction in which Obama is herding us.  Yes, it’s a scary thought, but but also an extremely absurd one if you know the America I know.

See, apparently, Obama has been living in his elite world of pansy-tailed, yellow-bellied, power hungry, delusional, lobster and filet mignon- eating morons for so long, he has forgotten that there are people in this country who are actually DO have principles and are willing to fight for them.  If he (not likely considering how much time he spends admiring himself) IS aware that we exist, he seems to believe that we can be steamrolled and bullied into submission.  Not likely.

There was a recent Gallup poll conducted that stated that more people in Alabama identified themselves as conservative than in any other state.  I happen to live in Alabama.  I know this to be true.  I was born and raised in south Georgia and the same used to hold true there as well.  We’re the “bitter God and gun clingers” Obama was referring to on the campaign trail.   Well, we do happen to like our second amendment rights down here and yes, most of us love God.  Last time I checked, it was a free country and we were allowed to do so.  Both of my grandfathers and my husband fought for our freedom and we darn well plan on remaining free.  However, it’s important to note that while there are definitely more conservatives in the south, there are patriotic Americans all over this nation who would gladly give their lives to defend the country they love–many of them already in the military.

I’ve never in my life been a conspiracy theorist or even a political guru, but what I DO know is that one cannot ignore the fact that something is brewing in our government that is inherently anti-American.  We all know that the government doesn’t like to let a crisis “go to waste“, so what will be our next crisis and what will they try to push through that they didn’t think they could before? (Rhetorical)

One of my favorite songs is “Don’t Tread on Me” by Metallica.  It is dedicated to the Gadsden flag.  For those of you who aren’t familar with the song, read the lyrics–there has never been a more perfect song for the tea party movement, IMHO.  It also embodies perfectly the attitude that I and my fellow patriotic Americans feel toward an oppressive, underhanded, manipulative, deceitful, totalitarian government.  It won’t happen.  Ever.  Not in America.  Got it?

So, to recap–I love my country and I know that there are millions of other Americans who feel the same way I do about her and are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure freedom and liberty for us and our children.  Anyone who believes otherwise should REALLY take a closer look around.  Better yet, pay a visit to Alabama.  We’d be happy to show ya what a TRUE American thinks and talks like (and it ain’t like Obama or his czars).

*I’ve never cited anyone’s diary entry before, so I hope I did this right.  If not, please forgive.  I’m new to this.

…Don’t Tread On Me! Never been to alabama, but I hear its a Sweet Home! And of course you know that I hope “Niel Young” (or any liberal) will remember a Southern man don’t need him round anyhow.

I played that on my way to the Tea Parties I’ve attended and put it on repeat. Great piece you wrote, right on! Read mine, “De-fund the EPA”

Well, then what are they waiting for?

A lot of conservatives say they “will” do anything, but most of them can’t even get themselves to a local GOP meeting to become a precinct committeeman. Conservatives COULD send an immediate signal to the “powers that be” if they flocked into the Republican Party tomorrow to fill up the 50 per cent of the precinct committeeman slots nationwide that are vacant. But that would mean actually DOING SOMETHING that didn’t involve sitting behind a computer and endlessly preaching to the choir.

Hell, many of them can’t seem to figure out how to use Google to find their local organization. Or give up when “the Party” - egads! - doesn’t return the single phone call they’ve ever made to the Republican Party. Believe me, I’ve met many of them. All full of spit and vinegar on the internet and in conversation, but just can’t seem to spend a few hours to figure out their basic civic duties.

I hope this changes, but for crying out loud if what’s going on now in Washington won’t motivate them, I don’t know what will.

Some good news: I heard Mark Levin today say “conservatives have to take over the Republican Party.” I was on hold attempting to get in to comment, but didn’t get chosen. Unfortunately, Levin didn’t explain HOW to take ever the Party: that’s by having every conservative join the Party as a PC to create a voting majority of PCs in its ranks — easily done with half the slots vacant.

Thank you.

P.S. Tonight I attended a Pachyderm Coalition meeting in Chandler, AZ where Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio spoke. During the Q & A I was able to get my two cents in that everyone there who wasn’t a precinct committeeman (about half of the attendees were precinct committeemen) could BEST help Sheriff Joe, County GOP Chairman Rob Haney, their country and their posterity by becoming a precinct committeeman. And recruiting every conservative they knew to do the same. And I handed out a flyer explaining how to become one.

American first, conservative second and Republican precinct committeeman by necessity.

but remember some of us fund (me) the candidates that can do something, some of us volunteer (rarely able to) to make our contribution, some of us have to continuously remind the people around us why you don’t vote D’s (this happens alot), raise children to be future conservatives, and some of us (even rarer) write about news that sparks our interest.

You my friend are a do’er and are passionate to act, and that is commendable… others make their contributions in other ways.

DTOM: No, I was trying to be nice

My dad, a former PC, city councilman, county board member and county board chairman, always told me I could catch more flies with a drop of honey than all the vinegar in the world. I was actually trying to use the honey approach!

Look, we are locked in a political struggle.

In a system that has evolved (devolved?) into a two-party system.

One party has been hijacked by leftists. They used a shallow puppet that was the perfect facade. As Joe Biden observed, he was clean and articulate, etc.

That party ran against a party that was/is split down the middle between moderates and conservatives. And was at half-strength. Half of its precinct committeeman slots were VACANT. No wonder we lost. Look at what rose to the top of the ticket. Look at our current “leadership.” Both are a reflection of that 50-50 split in the party ranks.

Want to win the political battle? Have conservatives come into the Party in droves to become precinct committeeman. It’s not hard. It does not take a lot of time. But, oh, the excuses for not doing so are many. I had one person start off (after I had patiently explained the power of being a PC and how easy it would be to take over the Party in Maricopa County, where TWO-THIRDS of the available slots are vacant), by asking, “Well, how many hours a month does it take?” My response, “How many hours a month is your country worth with a Marxist in the White House?”

For gosh sakes, think of the sacrifices are armed forces have made and are making on our behalf. Think of what your country is worth to you. Your liberty.

I sat across the table tonight from some young guy. Early thirties. Wants to “do something.” Has been a registered Republican since he turned 18. Had never heard of the office of precinct committeeman. I pointed to our county chairman. “See that man over there. He’s the Maricopa County GOP Chairman. He’s a conservative. Did you vote for him?” Puzzled look. I continued. “You’ve heard of Michael Steele? The RNC Chairman? How did he come to be the RNC Chairman?” Puzzled look. I continued. “Our county chairman was elected by the precinct committeeman at our county GOP convention. I was there. I voted for him. So did this guy. [I pointed to the guy on my right, also a PC.] And I got to vote for those who elected Michael Steele. Only precinct committeemen get to do that. That’s political power.” He was flabbergasted. As were several others listening in. Astute people. Good people. Good conservatives. But each of them had a heckuva a lot less political power than me and my cohort who are precinct committeeman.

Yes, give money. Yes, persuade. My point is simply this — all of that should be below, on your priority list, what ought to be at the top — being a conservative voting member of the Party. Period.

That’s my opinion. We need a conservative Party. We need to signal that conservatives are coming back into party politics with a vengeance. We do that by JOINING the Republican Party as PCs. PCs determine the leadership of the Party. PCs vote to endorse candidates in the primaries. Elections are won at the grass roots level where get out the vote happens. PCs make that happen.

If conservatives, like the conservatives here at Redstate, flock into the Party and HIJACK it from the moderates, we’ve got a fighting chance. Chattering away to the choir should be secondary, not primary.

If we conservatives DON”T come into the Party and HIJACK it, welcome to the dark ages.

Thank you.

CW, I agree...

with you. I just wanted you to know that I am tyring to affect politics the best way I can. And I whole heartedly agree, that the conservatives need the GOP back because a third party is not an option. I try to use my pen and paper, telephone and the check book to affect the party, when time is available, I would love to be able to do what you do, and one day I will.

DTOM: Thanks for all you DO and all the Redstaters DO

ColdWarrior Friday, October 16th at 2:57AM EDT (link)

I’m a USMA grad. Intel Officer. Trial lawyer. Boy Scout.

I recruited and trained folks to go on secret and dangerous missions on behalf of the United States government. And been on them myself.

I try to define problems and boil them down to their essence. Minimize risk. Find maximum solutions.

The solution to our current political “problem,” at the first level, is political. “We the people” can fix this politically. Easily. See above.

My goal is to motivate thousands of conservatives to ACT. Politically. Most of the Tea Partiers/912-ers actually think they are “politically active.” Indeed, I think most of the Redstaters think that by posting endlessly at Restate makes them a “political activist.”

Doh! The congresscritters could care less about the Tea Parties and town halls (and the town hall protests for those congresscritters, like mine, Harry Mitchell, AZ CD-5, who would not have a town hall) AS LONG AS THE STATUS QUO REMAINS — THE REPUBLICAN PARTY REMAINS AT 50 PER CENT STRENGTH AT THE GRASS ROOTS, PRECINCT COMMITTEEMAN, LEVEL.

And the congresscritters could care less about what’s posted here at Redstate. Seriously, unless they KNOW that everyone here at Redstate is a precinct committeeman, Redstate postings essentially amount to nothing more than what we used to call such jawboning in my day in the Army as “mental masturbation” — it feels good and maybe sounds good but it doesn’t really accomplish anything other than blowing off steam.

Hold on to your hats: THE ONLY THING THAT INCUMBENTS CARE ABOUT IS THREATS TO THEIR REELECTION, AND THE BEST WAY TO MINIMIZE THEIR REELECTION ODDS IS TO BECOME A PRECINCT COMMITTEEMAN. PERIOD.

The status quo means, simply, that these congresscritters know they’ll probably be reelected no matter how they vote. History is their guide.

Want to change history? Become a PC. Period.

Nothing else really matters.

Thank you.

I tried to be a PC in my county, but my county isn’t even listed on my state GOP website and I can’t seem to find any information on it anywhere. I’m still trying, but I have to juggle two children, ages 3 and 1 and all of the household duties as well.
I truly do want to make a difference. It’s just not as easy as you may think in some parts of the country.

Marshmom: I'll help

ColdWarrior Friday, October 16th at 3:09AM EDT (link)

What state and county do you live in?

I’m self employed. Four kids. 11 and under. One’s autistic.

When did I say it was easy?

The problems you state about the status of your GOP’s website is EXACTLY why you have to get involved. I’m in Maricopa County, AZ. Our website SUCKS. So . . . I’ve recruited someone to volunteer to fix it. Think of it — the county of millionaires, that gave you John F-ing McCain, can’t afford to have a decent web site. I know where you’re coming from.

In the words of Jerry McGuire, “Help me help you.”

Thanks,
