John Lewis: Civil Rights Icon … and a Liar.

Because Liars Need To Be Called Out

According to the Left-Wing McClatchy Newspaper “reporter” William Douglas in an article on Saturday; Tea Partiers repeatedly screamed the N-word at John Lewis (D-GA) as he crossed over to the Capitol on his way to vote for Obamacare.

Tea party protesters use racial epithet against Georgia’s John Lewis

By William Douglas, McClatchy Newspapers

Sat Mar 20, 7:21 pm ET

WASHINGTON — Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol , angry over the proposed health care bill, shouted “nigger” Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis , a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s.

Unfortunately for William Douglas, the incident was caught on video, conclusively proving otherwise.

Let’s be blunt; John Lewis is a liar. He claimed the N-word was “shouted” over and over at him and yet no camera among the many there has caught anything of the sort. In other words, there is no doubt about it; he was and is lying straight through his teeth. As so is McClatchy’s William Douglas who filed the story, no doubt knowing full-well that it was false.

This is nothing but Standard Democrat Operating Procedure; shrieking accusations of racism, knowing they would be uncritically echoed by masquerading partisan operatives in the media like William Douglas, is as integral to Democrat politics as funneling taxpayer money to public employee unions for them to kickback into their campaign war chests. There has not been a single competitive election, legislative battle or even debate on the issues in the past four decades that Democrats have parachuted charges of racism and “hate.”

It is what Democrats use as shorthand for “I disagree”; it’s what they call their kids when they don’t do their homework. How does anyone think it became racist for one to be pro-life, or pro-school vouchers when the vast majority of black parents support school choice?

Worse is that Republicans everywhere start falling all over themselves to apologize for nothing giving credence to clearly false accusations and end up stripping their arguments of their most salient and effective points to avoid “offending” people who are faking it in the first place.

The fact that Lewis is a Civil Rights icon doesn’t change the fact that he has since become a party-hack Democrat and doesn’t make him any less likely to be a liar. I mean, doesn’t it strike anyone as odd the very fact that the Tea Partiers couldn’t find any other black Democrat to yell racial slurs at except *John Lewis*?

Note to all Republican and Conservative spokesmen; if you’re on TV or Radio and anyone brings this up, this is the only response; Lewis is lying. Simple, straight and to the point. If anyone even begins to hint that opposition to Obamacare is based on the color of Barack Obama’s skin, loudly and clearly denounce them and call them out-and-out liars without hesitation or apology.

Give no quarter. We’re going to have a hard enough time repealing this without having to defend against bogus charges of hate and prejudice by hate-filled and prejudiced people.

against this comment by Michael Cannor over at NRO’s Crtical Condition:

“First, congratulations to all those to whom this victory means so much. This debate has been marked by such rancor, that I encourage all who are now crestfallen to take a deep breath. Reach out to your opponents. Remind yourself that they are good people, that they come to this debate with good intentions. You?ll feel better about yourself. Also, if you hold on to rancor, you?ll be worse than useless to the rest of us.”

After all this, and the outrageous slanders hurled at us by the people on the other side, some conservatives still want to take the “reach out” approach. While I don’t ever want to slink down to the tactics of the other side, let’s let an incident like this one remind us of exactly what types of people we are up against in this fight, and keep a very realistic assessment about their intentions and the tactics they are willing to use.

It was McCain’s campaign in a nutshell, It has been National Review for over fifty years, it’s all the conservatives & Republicans who detest Ann Coulter, it is all the fools who say,” we can’t be like them, we have to be better,” who for over a lifetime have been giving liberals the benefit of the doubt, what doubt? And it has led to this with more on the way.
By all means, let’s reach out to the people whose hunger for power is rapacious and who just showed their complete contempt for the American people . Let’s make nice, and give them our very freedom and lives.

      • Kyle-MI

I think he goes too far in deference, but I also think we can go too far the other way in attacking. The Dems tactics disgust me. I never want to be like them even if it mean that is the only way we can win (and it is not).

        • Joe_Cor

Just that we stop fooling ourselves about who and what we’re up against.

    • SteveM

…is when we reach out to yank them out of office.

People who run around making these kinds of accusations are scumbags. As far as I’m concerned, we need to keep the energy up and put it to some good use.

…I have become a full-fledged Alinskyite. I no longer care about the rules of decent society; I care about freedom and the most efficacious ways to achieve it.

As such, I will do everything I can, regardless of how it would formerly make me queasy, to ruin these people. They seek to subjugate the American people, and that raises the stakes beyond the limits of polite society.

First off, who says Michael Cannon is a conservative? He’s a research fellow at Cato. He’s a libertarian. He couldn’t care less about what helps the Republican Party in the short-run.

Also, that’s a small portion of what he said. Cato has his full remarks up on their site (it’s today’s Daily Podcast)… he’s simply advocating to step back from the rancor and work to dismantle the worst portions of Obamacare before they ever get the chance to take effect.

      • Joe_Cor

about what helps/hurts the Republican party to the extent that helping/hurting it helps or hurts our losing control of our liberty. Since the issue is liberty, I would assume even a libertarian who isn’t a Republican would be interested in that. Winning back our liberty will require that we reallistically view the oppostion, not sugar-coat who they are, how they act, and what their intentions are, all so that we can be sure that at the end of the day, after they have libeled us en route to robbing us of our liberty, we’ll have managed to keep them an an available bridge partner when we need one.

        • mikefisk

Remember, conservatives and libertarians were the same people telling the left back in 2002 and 2004 that they couldn’t run on the basis of anger and vitriol, and this was pretty well accepted back then.

Sure, be upset. Your elected officials sold you out. But don’t get mad, get even. You’ve got the better vision; now go out and sell it to anyone you know who will listen.

Explain what this bill does wrong.

Explain how many of this bill’s provisions will ultimately be counter-productive.

Explain your vision of how to fix the broken medical care system.

Given a choice, the American public is making it very clear which plan for America’s future they prefer. Just let them know they still have a choice, so long as they understand who it is that seeks to deny them their Constitutional ability to speak up.

These stunts of the last few days by race hustlers John Lewis and Jesse “Hymietown” Jackson prove beyond a doubt that these are not “good people.” Their little walk through the Tea Party protestors was clearly intended to stir up some sort of racial incident. When that didn’t work, they just decided to lie, knowing the MSM would do zero fact checking. These are not good people. They are vile despicable criminals who must be defeated in detail.

Wow, the denial just never stops with you folks.

So simply because the video did not pick up the N word being thrown around means the guy is not telling the truth?

Lets use some logic here people. What is more likely a) and angry, nobody uneducated tea bagging moron from the South shouts a racist remark at a black congressman -or-
      b) a elected official with a lot to lose from lying in front of national television and thousands of witnesses simply made it up just to play the “race card” when it was both unnecessary and frankly could only serve to distract from the issue; which by the way the Dems were already on the verge of winning?

Sounds like typical right wing empty logic.
Either way the tea bagging movement is clearly shrouded in racism and to deny this would be to hypocritically play the “your playing the race card” card.

I have seen for myself tea bagging racism , most people have, a quick look at some of their protest signs and billboards even shows this. These people are misinformed, scared, jealous angry rednecks and this website is a laughing stock.

taken him by the scruff of the neck, and escorted him well away from the festivities.

I don’t believe John Lewis for one second. This alleged outburst would have been instantly squelshed, if necessary by force. And rightfully so!

      • JadedByPolitics

because WE on the RIGHT know full well that Democrats LIE when it comes to racism and they use it as a weapon to STOP US! That BS will NEVER WORK EVER AGAIN!

BTW you LOSER, go hang with your pathetic leftists on some other site WE don’t need TRASH lying about the place!

The buss”s pull up for the signing ceremony? Anybody see the police with the shotguns in their hand? watching the sidewalk across the street? Anybody find that odd?… Are they attempting to condition the American people against us nasty MOB protestors?

  • Kyle-MI

William Douglas should be out of a job. (Of course, so should Lewis.)

Although it would be almost impossible to win and probably thrown out, I almost wish a group of people in that crowd would file a slander lawsuit against both Douglas and Lewis.

  • marie_a

as blazing Moses with that stone inscribed in Hebrew and translated into the old king”s lingo:

Thou shalt not bear false witness.

  • sayoung80913

I wonder if the lame stream media gets a pat on the head every night like the good little lap dogs they are? Unfortunately the new jobless numbers will be coming out shortly, and 30 days from now, polls will drop, glowing media reports will have moved on, and we will still have one tenth of our country unemployed-then what? Blame racism or Bush? It’s all pretty laughable, nobody even listens to the media anymore and this is a good example why.

  • Right_Again

If this had happened as Lewis reported it would be going viral on YouTube now. He is a flat out liar.

The article I read in my local paper claimed the crowd chanted the “N” word at least 15 times. Has anyone seen video with that being chanted by the crowd even once? Has anyone seen video of even one protester shouting it once? Has anyone seen video of any of these race-baiters being spat upon? The answer is an emphatic, “NO!”

These liars make their claims. One source in the media picks it up as true since they believe it and are hoping it is true. Then all of the other media sources can cover their backsides by claiming “it was reported…” while repeating the lies over and over again.

  • caboose

Hitler, Racists and liar ever chance they get on Cable and in other National Media. When this same media attempts to get a Republican to do the same to the Democrat, they him/haw around and try to evade the opportunity to call them what they are. Remember, Bush was trashed by the democrats and called everything in the book and then some. Bush failed to respond, the same thing that the GOP is doing and it has cost the Republicans have paid deeply for it. John Lewis is a racist, several years ago he was suspended and removed from the floor of the house for his radical racial ourburst. If we are to see to it that this Country survives, we must shed our girlee boy posture and become men again!

  • E Pluribus Unum

I think that should be on billboards.

    In Washington DC.

    • blooch

Maybe he has a hearing problem, too. That’s what I would say if I were feeling charitable, but I’m not.

He’s a teflon moron, a beloved fool of the Left who is nothing more than a vote and a bloody shirt with which to flail us.. That’s what I say when I’m not feeling charitable.

  • Marcus_Traianus

but occasionally I switch the channel to CNN and see what their perspective is. I dare say they repeated this allegation gratuitously and ad nauseum as if it was fact.

That was CNN’s contribution to the health care “debate”- verbally flogging the racist tea parties and other flotsam-jetsam that make up the Republican Party and “right wing” independents (whoever that is).

I turned to folks in the room and said “now you know why I never watch this channel”.

  • Ann_W

Every news channel “reported” this. Fox news had a story on it’s website about it. All the GOP leaders were prodded to apologize for it. The press is so vile.

We need to be posting links to this video whenever we run into people repeating this lie.

  • Locked and Loaded

Get a group to follow Lewis in the days ahead – make it weeks. Everywhere he goes, the group chants out “Liar, liar!” Saul Alinsky’s nemesis would be proud.

  • aesthete

Still find a lot to admire in his record as a Civil Rights icon. But he’s really working hard to undo that admiration through his work in Congress and his outright fraudulent assertions.

As soon as I heard the report I complained to them about the slander. I was so proud of the folks up there striving against the odds at the Capitol. A more decent and patriotic bunch you will never find. And one of them was little ole me! (A first-timer at one of these things)

When I heard the lie I was outraged, and really feeling the hate from the Left. Almost reminded me of how a certain group of people must have felt in Europe in, oh, I don’t know, the early 1930s?

Anybody notice the fake audio on YouTube?

  • Adjoran

We know what to expect from John Lewis and Jim Clyburn; they have but one trick to perform and they’ve plenty of practice at it.

Douglas pretends to be a reporter. By knowingly reporting these lies, he betrays every reader who has remained loyal to the McClatchy brand (which isn’t many, he’ll be out of a job in no time).
