Obama goes to Dover.

I am so angry right now I really shouldn’t be typing. TheBoyPresident™ finally and irrevocably crossed the line for me. I hate the bastard. Marxism I can deal with. What he did at Dover Air Force Base I refuse to deal with.

Some background. Dover AFB is the site of the US Military mortuary. It’s the first stop for members of the military who’ve given all. It’s at Dover that final preparations are made for burial before that soldier, sailor, airman or Marine is finally shipped home to their grieving family members. I have some experience, thankfully not personal, with this. My oldest son Josh was a Marine with 2nd Btn 4th Marines and in 2003 his unit experienced the highest casualty rate of any unit in Iraq in Al Anbar. I knew some of the families who lost sons. It was, and still is, personal. HBO did a magnificent job of documenting the final journey home of one young Marine with their movie Taking Chance, here’s a trailer…

The full movie is available for free download at a number of sites, and since it’s also available for purchase I won’t link the sites but they’re not hard to find if you try.

The bottom line here is that the sacrifice made by members of our military, and their families, is treated with an incredible degree of respect by the military - and individually by every man and woman who wears a uniform - from the time of death on the battlefield or in a military hospital through every step of their homecoming and burial.

I’ve commented on this before at some length and it’s worthwhile to mention again here. George Bush would routinely reach out to families of the military who had had members killed in action. I personally know of families who received a call from the White House and who were brought to locations where the President was visiting on other business to meet with him. There was no fanfare. The families were taken to a large area and were briefed before the President’s arrival so they would know what to expect and that “the President is on a tight schedule and while he wants to spend time with each of you, he needs to leave at ‘X’…” In every instance, President Bush would come into the room, make a few short remarks and then meet with families. In every instance he would talk to individual family members about anything they wanted to talk about, he never rushed them and he stayed until the families suggested he should talk to someone else. There was always a White House photographer present to take pictures that were made available ONLY to the families. Repeat, O.N.L.Y. the families. The press was NEVER present. There was NEVER an announcement from the White House that the President was meeting with the families of the fallen nor were they ever recognized publicly at the event. Their privacy, and their loss, was always respected.

Which brings me to the self-serving bastard who occupies the White House today. He went to Dover. One might think it was to pay respect to the fallen coming home. Wrong. It was for a G*d damn photo op. He took the White House Press Corps with him and made his visit about him.

Liz Cheney commented about his visit, and his decision making about Afghanistan, in the video below.

Thank you Liz.

And Mr. President, posting rules prevent me from noting my real opinion of you, but you really do need to learn how to act around people who are your betters. You make Jimmy Carter look like a statesman.

when all the libs were whining about giving him a chance, I said (expletive) no. I had made a promise to myself that I would treat this president exactly how he and his supporters and Congress treated the previous president.

No, I will not give him credit even when others think it is due. (Hear that O’Reilly?)

No, I will not give him a chance, because doing so gives him more of an opening to implement his stupidly marxist agenda.

No, I will not give him respect because he sullies the office in which he sits. He does not want to be president. He merely wants to play one on TV.

So, I’m with you on this. It was a photo op in lieu of real regard and sympathy for our troops.

families told the media, and by extension, Obama, that no, you can’t take pictures of our family members, that night. Bless them.
Becker, my oldest son just got back from Afghanistan, he’s with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. They took their share of casualties, including Lance Corporal Josh Bernard, the Marine that AP saw fit to post a picture of his dying moments. Scope made mention of malfunctioning rifles and machine guns, I never heard that from my son, Matter of fact, the only complaint I heard in the time he was there, was it was hot, dusty, and hot. And that Ramen noodles were better than MRE’s, barely.
But, I do agree with Scope, Soldier’s Angels is a great organization, if you’re of a mind to remember the troops, they’ll hook you up.

I’ve not heard about weapons problems to any extent that would be unusual given the operating environments and I’ve commented on that before.

Josh actually liked some of the MREs.

Soldier’s Angels and Wounded Warriors are both FANTASTIC organizations worth of Christmas presents.

There’s even a pic of his promotion on the web site of 2/3 Marines, under the Afghanistan photos, August 2009 pictures, Third picture down. He liked some of the MRE’s too, with plentiful applications of hot sauce and/or tabasco sauce.

There are primitive tribes who believe if your picture is taken, it can steal your soul. In a symbolic way, the actions of this man when it is all about him, show a “soul” already gone. If that sounds harsh, well I just don’t have another way to express my contempt for someone who cares only about themselves.

The link below leads to a 2006 clip from the sometimes funny man A. Whitney Brown. I don’t think it is supposed to be sarcasm or hyperbole. I think this is how he honestly feels, and I think it is a window into the minds of the anti-military left. I think it is what Obama meant when he said he supported the troops before he was elected. It is not suitable for work (has the sh- word) and might make you want to hit something; therefore, I am not embedding.

There is a video of Clinton where he is looking solemn walking away from a funeral and then laughing then catching the camera and ducking his head solemnly again…..very NASTY stuff!

Obama and Carter and Clinton DO NOT respect the lives of the United States Military the last Democrat who did was Johnson and it ripped his guts out in such a way that he COULD NOT run a second term. The left in this country and all three of those tools are LEFTISTS (Clinton gave the appearance of being moderate due to Republicans in the House) and they have a distinct hatred for all things military. They work to downgrade and destroy it everytime they enter the WH and ALWAYS send our troops to die for a WAR they REFUSE to win!

Obama disgusts me to mbecker and I cannot think of too many on this site that he doesn’t disgust. I cannot fathom for a moment that this diary would get you banned nor should it because WE all are aware that this “man” REFUSES to WIN and in such our soldiers are dying for something less then VICTORY!

Obama's cameras are as vitally necessary to him as his teleprompters

Scope Saturday, October 31st at 5:37PM EDT (link)

There have been articles after articles showing that Obama prefers to play golf, or basketball, while our military members are being slaughtered in Afghanistan. That was the only reason Obama went to Dover, and took his cameras to prove that he really was there. To hold photo-ops with families of deceased military members deserves the words Becker can’t say, but, I totally agree with. This sorry ass excuse for a president couldn’t care less about all the military members, that are there only to lick his shoes clean.

I don’t know if anyone saw a dad of 2 currently deployed Marines on Fox early yesterday morning. It was heart renching. He very respectfully begged Obama to make a decision, so that the military members, and their families at least have an idea of what his goals are. He begged, please tell us if you want a Diplomatic course, or do you want a military course. He said that Obama talks about not wanting to put our military in harms way, while we have military members already in harms way. One of his sons is in one of the worst areas in Afghanistan right now. He asked that Obama please explain what a “victory” would look like, and, begged that victory was still his goal. He begged that Obama please give the military what they needed to execute the mission they were sent to do. Crap, they are using guns that don’t even work, and fail when they are needed most.

I am of the thought that if Obama is not all in, then get the hell all the way out. Obama was against the war in Iraq, because we were taking our eyes off the “right war.” The surge worked, better than many even hoped for. Is Obama afraid if he does the same surge in Afghanistan that George Bush or Gen. Petreaus will get the credit? Oh, I forgot, the Gubenetorial races this week, and Obamacare come first. Then he’ll flip a coin to see what he’ll decide to do about Afghanistan.

Billary Clinton is not working, she just pissed off the Pakistanis. She can’t understand why they haven’t been able to “get” Bin Laden. She must forget about the time our military had him in their line of fire scopes, but couldn’t be bothered to interrupt his golf game to make a decision.

Christmas is coming. Please don’t forget to get your packages out to the military members by Dec. 1. Soldiers Angeles is a great organization, you can get military addresses from them.

The general idea is that you can search for soldiers looking for certain things or from certain bases and send stuff directly to them. It takes more of an investment of time to do this and as far as I know you can’t claim anything against taxes (unless you donate money to anysoldier.com itself), but it can perhaps give you a little more satisfaction that it was time and effort well-spent.

And if you’re shipping care packages to APO boxes, you ship a pretty good pile of stuff for $12 if you pick the APO flat-rate priority mail box.

you can send only cards too

if you can’t afford things on their list of needed stuff. Also don’t mix food and hygiene supplies in the same package or else the food will get the perfume from them.
Right now would be a good time to send them some blank Christmas stationary and some childrens cards, stickers bookmarks gc to McD etc to send back home to their kids in a card. I usually can’t afford stuff but I try to send extra stationary for them to send back to their family. THe dollar store has Christmas cards 20/$1 and nicer individual hallmark type of card (children’s Christmas, children’s birthday, spouse bday) are 2/$1.

This, more clearly than anything before shows the utter contempt in which BO and the progressives hold the American people.

nessa Saturday, October 31st at 9:30PM EDT (link)

The heat is growing as this pitiful administration ignores our Troops in Afghanistan and what is their solution? The anointed one goes to pose and attempt to present the appearance that he cares about our Soldiers. That will fix it, the American people are too stupid to see through this shallow ploy, we’re actually lower than the gun-toting, bible-clinging nazi’s they called us in August. Drooling imbeciles I guess, only capable of standing in a line with our hand out waiting for whatever it is our betters have decided we need, cheese, a stimulus check, free healthcare…

Seeing that POS render a hand salute makes me want to vomit. A Salute is an exchange of greetings between warriors, a right GW Bush earned for the same reasons mbecker cites above.

I consider myself privileged every day that Retreat catches me driving back to the office from the daily update. Even though I’m a retiree, thanks to the VFW, American Legion and George W Bush, I am urged, as a veteran, to render a hand salute in any public situation that would require one were I still in uniform. I still enjoy stopping all the traffic behind me as I exit my vehicle and render honors to our Nation’s Flag and all that it represents. I can tell I’ll be holding back vomit for several weeks as that image of our president flashes through my mind. I’ll be damned if I’ll allow myself to be so ill-disciplined as to puke in the middle of Retreat. Once the music stops, stand back, all bets are off.

Obama went to Dover for nothing more than a few photos he could wave around to show how serious he was/is about the Afghanistan issue. He did not go to show compassion for those who died or support for their families. This was yet another side-show Obama style for the media and the anti-war left.

Say what you will about Bush, but he was a president who respected the military and cared about their families.

Obama… now that’s a man whose only concern for those who died while he dithered was to use them as yet another chance to get photos on the news.

Keep the change, I make my own hope.

Obama doesn't understand sacrifice, only his own childish wants.

archer52 Tuesday, November 3rd at 4:39AM EST (link)

Man-child.

To say “The trouble with Obama is” suggests there is just one thing wrong with him, and that would be a lie. In THIS particular case, his problem not only centers around his hatred for the nation and its military, that hatred being sourced from his upbringing and education, but it is also enhanced by his lack of exposure to what it means to be “military,” Duty, honor, sacrifice, love of country, love of family, respect- these are the traits either driven into a soldier or pull out from within him by the demands of the military.

You cannot serve or know people who have served and not walk away impressed and humbled. I’ll bet money the closest he got to a soldier was shouting obscenities distance. He doesn’t understand nor will he ever be able to understand the great privilege it is to wear the uniform of your nation with honor.

You see, he’s above all that. He’s evolved from the knuckle dragging he-man that defends what is his with violence to a more sophisticated wine sniffing, San Fran party going civilized man of intelligence. Of course, we are now seeing that image is only a thin veneer covering a petulant, vengeful, bullying Man-child who is beginning to get the fact the world just isn’t all that darned impressed with him.

You think it is bad now, wait until he crashes completely. Without the benefit of experiencing the growth and maturity the service gives, he’ll have no way of coping with the failure. He’ll figuratively, and it this case quite possibly literally, take his basketball home and pout.

He’ll sit in his room and plot revenge. Unfortunately for us, his room is the White House and he happens to be the most powerful man in it (outside Rohm and Soros and that goofy guy from SEIU).

The lesson of “elections have consequences” will not be lost on what remains of our nation in four years. Hopefully, it will be a long time before we do this again.

“This is how he supports the troops? Saluting our honorable dead in the middle of the night instead of deciding on policy and giving our commanders the proper audience? What an absolute disgrace.”

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson
