UPDATE: Scott Brown needs volunteer lawyers.

UPDATE 1/20 – 12:15 PM EST:

NOT ANY MORE!!!!!

From the Brown for Senate Legal Team website. HT to Instapundit.

Next week, Massachusetts’s citizens will head to the polls to vote in a historical election. Close elections draw intense scrutiny, and ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the process is crucial. For that reason, the Scott Brown campaign is assembling a volunteer legal team to ensure that no voters are disenfranchised and that all ballots are accurately counted. The citizens of Massachusetts deserve a fair and honest election.

On Election Day, we will need lawyers in a variety of tasks, including legal research of compliance issues that arise; witness interviews, preservation of evidence, and preparation of witness affidavits to document any voting irregularities; and monitoring of polling places, courts, and city halls.

You can sign up at the link below. We will contact you with further information, including a conference call training session.

Please do not wait, Election Day is January 19th!

If you are an attorney and can help out, please click the link above. Don’t let the enemy steal this election.

Oh they will try to steal this election but I believe...

JadedByPolitics (Diary) Saturday, January 16th at 11:19PM EDT (link)

like NJ there will be to many points to do it. I mean if NJ couldn’t be stolen as blue and as CORRUPT as it is I am praying this one cannot either. There is NO REASON for this man to lose this election!

smart dude, Scott Brown

E Pluribus Unum (Diary) Sunday, January 17th at 12:43AM EDT (link)

First of all, he’s right. They’ll steal it if they can. Your own army of mean lawyers is how you stop that. Second, by putting this out in public, he’s telling the public what he thinks of democrats. Third, it puts them on notice that they’re being watched.

By mean lawyers.

I hope he can get some lawyers

I always thought the democrats owned the lawers and thats why we don’t get tort reform.

Go Scott! I am so happy to read this post. I was wondering if there was going to be anyone watching the polls.

This in my opinion is the #2 most important thing to getting him elected. #1 of course is to vote for him.

tbaleno, it's the other way around

We need lawyers

GATransplant (Diary) Monday, January 18th at 11:26PM EDT (link)

The number one thing we need long term is more Republican lawyers, and not just at election time. There are so many things that have been changed in the law in the last century (constitutionally, and in other areas like tort and contract) that could have been prevented or mitigated from having more conservative judges and lawyers.

The traditional common law is surprisingly pretty libertarian but many jurisdictions seem to be changing the law to reflect liberal values and ideas. Conservative lawyers are needed to change this.

Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Speaking of Franken...

Coakley’s lead attorney, Marc Elias, was the lead attorney for Franken.

Just in case you wondered whether or not they were going to give it the old college try.

And if our GOP leaders let them steal this one, I will personally man the tar buckets when we tar and feather them and run them out of the country.

Don't forget vote switching machines & NY23

patriot077 Sunday, January 17th at 12:20PM EDT (link)

NY23 has shown it was not a clean win for Owens and the same can happen in MA. Scott Brown’s campaign has to be on top of this before the votes are cast and counted!

Ed Morrissey wrote a great article for Townhall on the Coleman vote count. It isn’t available online but here is a link to an excerpt:

They did the same thing for the WA Gov election. Be very very careful and get some really capable volunteers who know election laws to challenge them.

We need to fight this battle at every election from sea to shining sea. I’m willing to contribute dollars to put up a strong offense.

I wouldn’t trust the A**clown RNC to put the hearse in the right place in a two-car funeral.

Seriously, Brown is pretty much on his own in this race, unless the GOP has some behind the scenes stuff going down. So, what’s a GOPer like Brown to do in a case like this?

All my progressive ambulance chasing lawyer friends

mikerazar (Diary) Monday, January 18th at 10:35AM EDT (link)

have already booked first class plane tickets and 5 star hotel accommodations in Boston to cheat the people of a fair election. I sure hope we can get a few honest conservative attorneys booked into the local motel 6 in time to oppose them, but I hear the unions have reserved every available room within 100 miles.

We have a nation to save, people.

The Senate can refuse to seat Brown; all they need

Achance (Diary) Monday, January 18th at 11:56AM EDT (link)

is to stir up enough controversy to give a little cover to the Democrats. There’s precedent for it. The Senate refused to seat a newly elected New Jersey Senator in 1868 because he was opposed to the 14th Amendment. They finally decided to act like it had passed the Senate and he was seated so it never came to the USSC.

If this lot tries this, and I wouldn’t put it past them, then somebody with standing has to sue on behalf of the Commonwealth of MA on “equal footing” grounds in that MA is being deprive of equal representation in the Senate. ‘Course, the logical people to do that and the ones with the clearest standing, the Gov. and AG, are Democrats, so they might just let it sit

Ed Schultz should be the first person thrown into the slammer.

…Regardless if Holder lets him off.

In addition, MSNBC should fire Schultz for this comment. Although based on previous fireable comments that were given a pass by MSNBC hosts, I’d be shocked if anything happened. The spin, if anything, will be that like Kerry, Coakley, and other liberals, he was just “joking” and we’re the idiots for not getting the joke.

There seems to be a well organized and vigilant operation in place. Also, it sounds like the RNC has contributed to this effort.

A well organized and vigilant operation...

… gives me some confidence, and to whatever degree you are involved, your participation in that effort is appreciated.

On the other hand, the RNC’s contribution gives me no additional confidence whatsoever. In fact, for me, their involvement decreases confidence. It reminds me that the GOP can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at any given moment.

Near as I can tell

Sundayjack (Diary) Monday, January 18th at 10:52PM EDT (link)

The RNC paid to fly additional lawyers in from out of state to monitor polling places. No idea how many. Encouraging, though.

but I’m a lawyer in WA, not MA. I signed on to volunteer for Dino Rossi in Nov ’08. Sadly, that time around it wasn’t close so the Demoncrats didn’t have to cheat like they did in ’04. I’ve sent $$$ and prayers Brown’s way and, if I find out they need a lawyer from WA the state, I’m there.

Sundayjack (Diary) Wednesday, January 20th at 12:00PM EDT (link)

The Brown campaign had attorneys BLANKETING voting stations all over. Attorneys from all over the country flew in for this. At the end of the night, at my polling place, there were FOUR attorneys. For Coakley? None. Anywhere. This election was so well covered and so well handled by the Brown people. And the Romney people. And the NRSC. And the RNC. Have to point that out. They all came through for this effort when it was needed.
