MEMBER DIARY

Defund Planned Parenthood. Now.

From the diaries by Neil. A strong, simple message that can’t really be said enough.

At a press conference today, President Obama said,

“You know, if Republicans are interested in social issues that they want to promote, they should put a bill on the floor of the House and promote it, have an up-or-down vote, send it over to the Senate. But don’t try to use the budget as a way to promote a political or ideological agenda.”

President Obama is wrong.

During a time of fiscal crisis, everything should be on the table for spending cuts, especially an embattled, scandal-ridden corporation like Planned Parenthood. There must be no sacred cows.

The American people are watching closely not only how much Washington is cutting, but what they are cutting.

If Congress can’t cut off taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, a willing partner of the exploitation of women and young girls, then how can it be serious about cutting spending anywhere else?

Planned Parenthood must be defunded in all Continuing Resolution bills moving forward. This is non-negotiable.

The three-week Continuing Resolution released by the House GOP this afternoon doesn’t do it, and it must be opposed.

Like when they shoved abortion and funding into the AHCA. What an arrogant twit!

Republicans should put anything anywhere they please. After all, someone said a couple years ago that “elections have consequences”. Maybe Obama could get that guy to explain this to him?

If the house produced each bill with just one issue or one fund/defund decision point, he could pick and choose those he liked and didn’t like. Basically a line-item veto. He doesn’t want to have to make hard choices like defunding his pet Planned Parenthood abortion mills or face a government shutdown. Because defunding PP should be in EVERY budget bill from the House, without exception. Just like defunding Obamacare. Let HIM be the one to take the blame. Of course the media will spin it otherwise.

He wants what he wants, when and how he wants it. My son, when he was 2, knew he couldn’t get away with that. I guess Obama is prety much like a 2-year-old.

there should be NO permanent budget that includes a dime of funding to either PP or NPR

    Here is the rub….

We all agree about the abortion issue…

The point of argument is the other services PPH provides. And they are viable reasons to fund them. The problem is that PPH was created in the late 60′s or 70′s to service a populace that had physicians that were primarily untrained in female reproduction – or male- for that matter. They filled a niche.

They provided low cost pap smears and birth control, and advise in all the other sexual issues that the physicians at that time were not trained to deal with, or if they were, could not face their neighbors if they dealt with it because these issues were all hard to accept and deal with.

We no longer need PPH. All of our physicians are more aware of all these issues than they want to be.

All you should need to get discounted pap smears and birth-control is a student
ID or your simple government form that you lie on when you fill out the form to PPH.

Like the unions, PPH has overextended its welcome.

Abortion’s their cash cow. It’s abortion and government that keep them in business.

Don’t they provide health services any more? Or are all available doctors, nurses, radiologists, lab techs now PP employees, so that you can’t get checked or treated for STDs unless you go to a PP clinic?
