New Polling for South Carolina and Florida shows that Rick Santorum overwhelmingly has the support of Tea Party voters

The alliance of tea partiers and social conservatives will make Rick Santorum the GOP presidential nominee. Both groups overwhelmingly support Santorum. And new polling in South Carolina and Florida backs that up.

http://libertynews.com/2012/01/06/breaking-rick-santorum-dominates-tea-party-vote/

Grassfire Nation, the parent company of Liberty News and the Patriot Action Network, conducted a survey with tea party voters in Florida and South Carolina.

The top three candidates were:

SOUTH CAROLINA

1. Rick Santorum – 46%
2. Newt Gingrich – 23.6%
3. Mitt Romney – 12.6%

FLORIDA

1. Rick Santorum – 42%
2. Newt Gingrich – 26.3%
3. Mitt Romney – 15.2%

The Grassfire Nation press release makes some interesting points.

“These results show that Santorum’s Iowa win is already having huge ramifications and has re-shaped the GOP presidential race,” says Steve Elliott of Grassfire Nation, which conducted the poll by surveying its members in these two states between January 4-5. “If these results hold, Romney will not be able to consolidate conservative support and Santorum will likely be the clear ‘anti-Romney’ candidate in a two-man race coming out of South Carolina and Florida,” says Elliott.

Other findings:

Nutjob Ron Paul overwhelmingly wins the tea party vote for “least favorite” candidate (41% in SC, 47% FL).

The survey is statistically valid for the specific audience of Grassfire Nation team members in South Carolina and Florida. More than 92% of those surveyed said they are “actively part of” or “identify closely with” the Tea Party movement, making this survey an excellent measure of Tea Party support.

and this poll will solidify the tea party support for rick santorum even more!!!

    • thirstyboots

is certainly emblematic of the Tea Party.

I mean, who better to be the Tea Party candidate than a guy who bashes personal autonomy, low regulations and low taxes?

You know, the left has gone so far left and the right in some respects has gone so far right that they touch each other. They come around in the circle. This whole idea of personal autonomy, well I don

First Bachmann, then Perry….Herman, Newt, and now Santorum! I still find it hard to believe this guy lost his senate seat by 18% though! Substance wise, I prefer Newt hands down!

      • chrysostom15

2006 was a bad year for the GOP. The GOP governoer nominee lost by 21% at the same time. Buch had a negative 33% approval v dissaproval rating. Santorum outperformed both.

        • joshdunn

          By a lot.

Romney at least forces BHO to play defense in PA while Ohio, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Colorado, New Hampshire, and New Mexico slip away from him..

I don’t see Santorum doing much other than serving as a living symbol of the fact that his supporters would rather see Obama returned to office for a second term than see Mitt Romney, a Mormon, get the GOP nomination.

I find this sad and somewhat predictable.

I’ve been backing Newt as the strongest Anti-Romney, but I’ll happily rally behind Rick S. if he is our Consensus Conservative.

    • mikeymike143

and you will see more and more tea party leaders and groups come out in support of him in the next week,

we automatically bring a ground game to rick santorum’s team. and tea partiers turn out to vote.

Just more proof that the tea party is unified in backing Santorum. We want Santorum as our candidate and are not concerned with the opinion of non tea partiers who think we should be supporting someone else.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Palmetto State finds former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney still in the lead, earning 27% support from likely GOP Primary Voters, up from 23% in early November. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is in third with 18% of the vote, followed by Texas Congressman Ron Paul at 11%.

Bringing up the rear are Texas Governor Rick Perry with five percent (5%) and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman at two percent (2%).

The latest findings from South Carolina parallel the voting sentiments of Republicans nationally following the Iowa caucuses, with Romney out front with 29% support. Santorum, after his photo finish with Romney in Tuesday

Santorum is a proven, big government politician who has never held a real job in his life.

          • joshdunn

I mean, he has been a U.S. senator which qualifies as a “real job” in my book.

But everything else you said I agree with.

            Just curious.

      • carolynr

Ah…to be back into my former state…Florida…the mindset. Yes…I know it soooo very well.

Mikey…this Tea Party Movement really got started with two events…the Chicago Stockbroker who said on national TV…I believe, CNBC…that we needed to start making tea. The second was Beck’s 9-12 Movement. The unified mantra…too much Government Spending, Smaller government, Repeal Obamacare and return to the Constitution. So…I can conclude…that we can incorporate most of these into…SPENDING.

The “Purity” of the TPM has undergone changes and NOT for the better. They have lost their unified message. They have let some pundit define a Conservative. A Conservative is not just pro-life. They followed along like little sheep. There were not that many pro-life signs and plaques at the TPM’s…it was about those items I listed.

Do you believe that GWB contributed to the financial debacle we are currently in? I do. While I do not go with Obama’s reasoning (It’s all Bush’s Fault that I have to do this, when in fact he wants to turn us into a socialist…if not communist nation), GWB would not use the VETO pen. His Compassionate Conservative message amounted to spending, albeit a majority on wars that could have been won if we would not have paid attention to the UN or the rest of the socialists in Europe. Wars create jobs…did you know that? High paying jobs at that. We were in two of them…and things were looking good…the NYSE recovered all it had lost when we were attacked. People made mega bucks, defense contractors and their suppliers were going great guns and trickle down was working. GWB wouldn’t listen to his military..and decided to drag it on…and then the costs over ran the jobs. Finally the surge…but by that time, America was war weary. In comes Obama, the communist bent on destroying America and the free market took at nose dive.

Concerning Santorum…besides his pro-life stance, he has some problems and they include WHAT WE CANNOT AFFORD…literally…more spending! He’s a hawk…OK…fine, but I beg the question..for our security or for $$$ we need to generate jobs?

How much money did his bank receive from Congressional business. Does this sound like Pelosi…or say Chris Dodd. Pay for Play??? Federal funds went to real estate developer who backed his charity. One of Santorum’s top donors got an $8 million earmark and Santorum violated Senate Gift Rules…a slap on the wrist. Really…$8 million dollars…a slap. This sounds like Solyndra all over again. However…the one that gets me is this.

He, Santorum, had a charity (makes a good impression on people…right) called Operation Good Neighbor. Santorum wanted to illustrate his compassionate conservative bona fides. Problem…the board of directors was run by lobbyists with millions of dollars in front of the Senate.

Like Huntsman said…the American People have a problem with trust…AND I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM. This is like the business that advertises “Jesus Saves”….the good Christians believe it…because they do…and when they do business with the company…they are either screwed or they don’t live up to their “propagandized” advertisement…only meant to give the impression that they were “God Like”. I hope you get the point here.

Operation Good Neighbor was a front…it made Santorum look good when its purpose was to get business from the government.
It’s just another angle on “insider trading” with our money.

  • Dafyd

Why not put Trent Lott and Denny Hastert back in control of Congress, too? Because that worked, like, /so/ well when Santorum was last in office. I can smell the bacon cooking already.

  • WORD_WARRIOR

Lets talk about PRIDE Rick… and, a few facts!!! Another great dramatic preformance, YOU SHOULD GET AN OSCAR!!!

    But,

Wait a minute.. Good thing they didnt ask him about his ACCUWEATHER/KATRINA SCAM!!

Or, His disgusting medical clinic that gave HERPES to children!! His..some kind of slumlord clinic.. He was kind enough to do nothing about it, RAN AWAY TO NOT GET CAUGHT WITH PRESS ABOUT IT!!
HE QUIT FAST.. as soon as he decided to run!! So DID Rick know KATRINA WAS COMING, AND NOT WARN THEM???

We the People want to know!!!

    • SoFiMil

No one would be this stupid enough to capitalize to the extent that you do.

      • joshdunn

        But I could be wrong.

Over at Kos, they loooove Santorum, but only in the GOP primary. They love him because it would make it easier for BHO to hold onto the White House and the Senate if he could run against someone like Santorum.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) was the overwhelming favorite in the Berkeley County GOP straw poll Saturday.

Santorum won 52 percent of the 104 votes. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had a little more than 25 percent. Former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney had nearly 13 percent.

At the bottom of the list, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman had 5 votes and Texas Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul each had three votes

After careful consideration and prayer, I have decided to publicly endorse Senator Rick Santorum today in Greenville, South Carolina, for the Republican presidential nomination.

As you know, my intention had been to avoid an endorsement this cycle. However, in recent days it has become obvious that the GOP electorate is deeply divided about who should carry the banner for our values into the 2012 election against Barack Obama. I have been receiving an increasing number of questions from our grassroots supporters around the country seeking guidance on which candidate they should support. I felt it was imperative that I take the lead now.

As you know, I believe virtually all of these candidates are men who would be fantastic presidents compared to Barack Obama. My endorsement of Rick Santorum is in no way meant to be critical of the others. But I believe Santorum can best articulate the Reagan conservatism that has defined my political life and holds the best hope for the future our children and grandchildren will inherit. Rick Santorum is unambiguously pro-life and pro-family.

The election of our next president in 2012 will be the most important election of my generation. Campaign for Working Families will continue to build a war chest to defeat Barack Obama in November. I believe the candidate best able to do that is Rick Santorum.

But let me assure you that we will deploy our resources for whoever is selected as the nominee. There is only one candidate we must stop and his name is Barack Obama.

Thank you for all you do to empower my work in Washington, D.C.

    • mikeymike143

The significance of endorsement for Santorum by Gary Bauer can hardly be overestimated in terms of its impact upon conservative evangelical Christians.

      • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

        He endorsed Pat Robertson too.

And, his endorsement only impacts evangelicals who are NOT conservative and are incapable of rational political thought.
