Andrew Ian Dodge: Olympia Snowe ‘out of touch’ with 21st century Maine

Andrew Ian Dodge, a 40-something writer, blogger and Maine Tea Party Patriots coordinator, says Republican Senator Olympia Snowe is “out of touch” with modern America, and that is why he is running to unseat her.

According to his bio, he “organized the first registered tea party event in Maine, which took place in Augusta on April 15 2009.”

He was also instrumental in formulating the strategy for the small-government movement that played a huge role in giving Republicans a majority in the House.

But Dodge says that the long-time Republican Senator is “completely out of touch with her constituents and the needs of 21st century Maine.” …

“She has been in D.C. for 33 years and is completely out of touch with the real world outside of the Beltway,” he added.

Dodge, who considers himself a “new school web/tech savy limited government, fiscal conservative and free market obsessed rabble rouser,” says that Snowe’s vote for TARP and the auto bailouts, combined with the “internet kill switch” legislation she introduced with Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), makes her unfit to serve in the Senate.

He adds that Snowe’s vote to push Obamacare out of committee makes her “an old school big government Republican” out of touch with mainstream America and mainstream Mainers. …

we need a conservative like dodge in the senate instead of a RINO

It is time for there to be a real election between a Democrat and a Conservative Republican, and no longer between 2 democrats, one who calls herself a republican.

.. and if we were primary challenging Snowe in most other states, I’d support him. But sometimes its better to go for a gain of 5 yards instead of 10, when going for the 10 ensures a loss of 10. Maine is not ready to elect a non-Snowe Republican in a presidential year (unless the D’s split their vote again). Snowe is not perfect, but its a win. And considering how vital the Senate is, I’d rather have a Mike Castle than a Chris Coons.

      Go Dodge!

She’s really popular for some reason, though I can’t quite understand it. I know that when I participated in the Aroostook County Republican Committee a few years back, we drafted resolutions calling for her resignation (and Collins, too), but that didn’t accomplish anything.

There’s really two Maines, with the dividing line somewhere around Bangor. The coast is overwhelmingly liberal, while northern Maine is pretty conservative. The trouble is that the folks in the north are hopelessly outnumbered by the populous cities in coastal and southern Maine, like Augusta and Portland.

We’ve been wanting to oust Snowe for years, but her support in the south is pretty strong. I’d love to have a conservative candidate that I can support, and if Mr. Dodge is willing to run, I’ll support him.

Lugar is perfectly ok for me. I do not expect someone to agree with me 100% of the time. Snow needs to go, though.

Lugar does nothing for the conservatives. Has been a constant member of various RINO vote lists. LOST. Wimpy on every issue possible. This state has Mike Pence, it had dan Quayle, it had other conservatives of note. We can easily replace him with someone better.
Old guy that needs to be retired.

I give up on worrying about the Maine sisters because we cant elect conservatives there, and they are at least better than some of the other new england leftist senators. Dodge’s run from the right may help keep Snowe ‘in line’, which is good, but can he get elected in the general?
