So, let us assess the reactions of the USA to Obama’s Magical Pretty Senator* World Tour.

You think *that* was geeky? Wait until you hit the end.

I’m sure that said reaction will be quite significant.

So, starting with Rasmussen, we have a six-point bounce… erm. Back down to two and margin-of-error, huh?

:crumpling up paper and tossing it in wastebasket:

Well, there’s always Gallup and its 9 8 6 4 point lead. Or, as Gallup put it on 7/23,”modest“…

:crumple:

OK, let’s try public reaction… 39% no opinion, huh? 41% among independents. “Unfairly positive” press coverage towards Obama tied with “about right” at 39%? Fav/Unfavs worse for Obama among GOP/independents since poll done the week before, better for McCain among GOP/independents?

:crumple:

OK, there’s the USA/Gallup poll – yeesh. That switch from RV to LV

:crumple:

Democracy Corps – no, wait, look at the battleground states and the way that 5 point lead becomes 1.

:crumple, then rustle as the pyramid of paper collapses:

I guess that pretty much leaves only one question, then. Tell me something, Senator: last week, when you and your group were running the private sessions of your Presidential cosplay – did you use Mind’s Eye Theater for your ruleset, or did you go with the NERO LARP rules? I would normally guess the former, but from what I saw of the primaries you have all the hallmarks of being a stone-cold Palladium Games fan.

I’d have to disagree and go with the Mind’s Eye Theater ruleset. It’s easier to rig up and produce unfair advantages. Either way, if I’d been there to watch it, it probably would have reminded me more of the Cthulhu Live/Paranoia LARP at this year’s Origins.

(Yeah, this comment was mostly to compare an Obama Administration to Call of Cthulhu and Paranoia in an unholy union.)

Girl 1: But only if he says the magic words!

Girl 2: Oh yes! There he goes!

Supaa Senataa Berii Husseen: Magical Rose Petal Stream of Hope!

Girl 1 and Girl 2: Oh wow! I’m not even going to vote, I’m just going to stay and watch him!

their hand, embarrass themselves, destroy their credibility even with the Legendary Undecideds ? Their lust for the ultimate Community Organizer just might backfire if early appearances mean anything. The question is, can a group of pathetically narrow and ignorant people who have crowned themselves America’s thinkers second guess themselves long enough to pull back from their childish and giddy adulation and return to the more restrained hackery and pimping of the past on behalf of a party devoid of decency and principles ?

McCain’s ad campaign may be a tad too underrated.

Just as him. He is the second coming of Kami-sama.

Or perhaps Mahou Bishounen Supaa Senataa Berii Husseen-senpai in the grand tradition of things.

Even if it’s really Mahou Bishounen Supaa Senataa Berii Husseen-kun.

Dang. That’s a lot of dork for one thread

Any time the media catches itself (or gets caught) fawning over something, it immediately swings in the other direction, and “punishes” whatever it was fawning over, in some sort of attempt to restore it’s “objectivity”. This apparently only makes sense to journalists.

I don’t know if this has always been the case, but I’ve seen it happen with the space program, with the war in Kuwait, and with the war in Iraq, to name just a few examples.

My prediction is the the Obamassiah’s honeymoon with the press will end, and soon, even though he’s the media’s chosen one. They’ll throw him under the bus rather than let themselves be exposed as the yellow journalists they really are.

At least he’ll be able to visit with Rev. Wright and his grandmother while he’s down there.

There is a blog on www.nevadapundit.com that shows the cnn.com web page. Of the stories listed on that site Obama’s name was mentioned 14 times and McCain’s name was mentioned once. Talk about your biased media.
