FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Obama campaign agrees to three debates – after the conventions.

He is, of course, terrified to meet McCain in an unscripted format.

Well, they tried to lipstick the pig, but you know and I know what this means:

Due to the late date of the two parties’ nominating conventions, and the relatively short period between the end of the conventions and the first proposed debate, it is likely that the four Commission debates will be the sole series of debates in the fall campaign. Consequently, we believe that finalizing the arrangements for these debates with promptness and certainty is in the interests of both campaigns and the American people.

It means that they’re too scared to face a 72 year old torture survivor who can’t even move his arms properly. Which, given the way that CNN was mocking Obama over his drilling flip-flop just now (it’s weird, actually watching this stuff), is probably wise of them. People can get so upset when they realize that they’ve spent 500 million dollars on a primary and only gotten an untrained, inexperienced, and not particularly eloquent sacrificial lamb in return.

PS: I still hold out hopes for a town hall debate or two, though. If 2.6 won’t do it, maybe 1.6 will. or .6. Or maybe 2.6 the other way.

from the most fearless and open leader in American history? That he would actually keep his word for having debates outside of the Commission structure? That he would debate McCain “anytime, anywhere”?

Why, that’s the old politics of division and fear and actually listening to a politicians words and expecting him to follow up on it! Barack is the new model, where he says conflicting things from one minute to the next-certainly nothing we’ve ever seen in public servants before.

This guy can’t even stand up to a freaking town hall debate with a geriatric American much less Hamas, Hizbullah, Iranian Revolutionary Guards or Al Qaeda! Hell, he can’t even stand up to leftist libtards living in their mom’s basement!!

What happened to the two times he said, “I will debate McCain anytime and anywhere”?!!

“Inoperative” and “thrown under the bus” I imagine- it gets more crowded down there every day..

  • Dave_in_Fla

The inexperience is showing. When you couple that with arrogantly believing you can convince everyone to want to vote for you, well …

  • mbecker908

meetings in venues where Obama is scheduled to speak. Invite Obama to the meeting. If he doesn’t show, hold the meeting and beat him like a cheap drum.

  • Dave_in_Fla

This was the strategy his owner was using, enter every race that Was Admiral was running and watch him scratch.

I like this idea. I thought the proposed meeting with the SF Cronical that Obama ducked was great too. If McCain keeps at it Obama will get branded as a coward too.

  • David_Hinz

    as a stalker.

Actually, I like that idea even better.

  • NightTwister

Debate(v). An interactive discussion where Obama’s advisors believe the style fits Obama’s capabilities (limited as they may be) best.

Anytime(adv). A time that Obama’s advisors believe is strategically in Obama’s favor.

Anywhere(adv). A location where Obama’s advisors believe he has a significant advantage.

It’s important that you realize the commas in his statement…

    Debate, anytime, anywhere

    are each a logical AND.

  • mbecker908

there are lots of options. McCain could offer to pay for a hook up at whereever BO is cooling his heels.

Or, even better, a team of techs could snip BO statement out of YouTube and after each question from the audience McCain could start with “Let’s see what my opponent has said about that…” then run a series of YouTube clips with BO’s various positions followed up by McCain’s live answer.

    I just love the possibilities.

  • Stray

Maybe Barack just needs a little party favor inticement to show up ? (snif snif)

  • David_Hinz

there is no joy in Mudville…

  • Mark_I

I am amazed that Obama agreed to more than one debate. He’s going to get creamed in at least one of them. If his press conference on cable this AM is any indication, he’s going to have a real hard time getting any answer in under the time limit. Without the TelePrompTer, he just can’t speak.

  • Dave_in_Fla

The McCain camp could give new meaning to a YouTube debate. Just clip every question, show the Obama answer, then give his answer.

  • Tim_Schieferecke

He’s the biggest coward in the free world. When truth is spoken, it flows freely off the lips. When it’s not, it sounds like Obama minus teleprompter. Obama, I will debate you anytime, anywhere!

  • streiff

I don’t know where you think you are, but this isn’t it.

    Go away.

  • FrankLucia

Mac should challenge Obama to a townhall debate on energy / gas prices. Then have an empty podium in Obama’s place. Even have a moderator (“the next question is for Sen. McCain), etc.

  • David_Hinz

“the next question if for Sen Obama, Oh, and Senator, You’re an idiot!”

  • blooch

as a sub, or maybe as Obama’s tag-team partner…but she’d probably object to the Obama team’s dress code for women, specifically the long skirt.

  • jeanie

until he meets Putin!!! Or Kim Jong! Naw!! Never happen. He’ll send somebody else and then make rousing speeches about it.

  • Mark_I

    Wouldn’t that be sweet?

  • CindyM

Where does it state that Obama makes the rules? I know he thinks he is president already so I guess he’s the “decider”. John McCain should demand that at least one of these meetings is a townhall venue. This is the kind of stuff that will make me stay home in November.

  • larueladue

You would stay at home and not vote because…. why?

  • bk

that podium would be in darkness with a turned-off microphone.

“Then have an empty podium in Obama’s place.”

  • pointguard7

…flip flops and decides to have at least two or three town hall debates with McCain. I doubt he will, though. We all know that his best strategy is to decline McCain’s offer because he is leading in the polls. I think it’s highly unlikely that Obama is afraid to debate McCain. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose. I certainly can’t blame Obama or call him a wuss for making the right decision.
