FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Hillary Clinton’s pro-forma denunciation of John McCain’s ad.

There was no indication of whether her eye blinks spelled out "TORTURE" in Morse Code, though.

We finally got a response from Hillary’s people to this McCain ad:

…and it’s certainly, um, well, a statement.

The following is a statement released today by Hillary Clinton’s Spokeswoman Kathleen Strand in response to the McCain campaign’s new ad “Passed Over.”

“Hillary Clinton’s support of Barack Obama is clear. She has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq, and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn’t. It’s interesting how those remarks didn’t make it into his ad.”

I believe that the word to use here would be “tepid.” Even after you subtract out my, McCain’s, and the entire VRWC’s natural inclinations to be gleeful troublemakers, the word to use here would still be “tepid.” We were expecting something with, you know, some bite to it. I mean, look at it: there isn’t even a direct attack on McCain! She just called the ad incomplete. Not even inaccurate: incomplete.

Disappointing, really.

I have to see what type of speech she gives Tuesday and she may cut an ad for Obama campaign soon and then this McCain ad is irrelevant.

Hillary is between a rock and a hard place… she’d really love to see McCain beat the socks off Obama, for old hostility’s sake, but she’s gotta at least pretend to attack McCain to show that she’s still a good loyal Democrat.

I’d hate to be in her shoes.

into supporting BHO more than she otherwise would, just to shut us up.
If we lay back, she will undermine him plenty.

…how tepid the Tuesday night speech will be, doesn’t it?

The delegations for Florida and Michigan were granted full voting status in anticipation of Hillary releasing her delegates.

That was mentioned kind of in passing yesterday, but Hillary may still have something up her sleeve. She has to play nice and pretend to go along until she gets the floor vote.

It’s still a long shot, but I’m pulling for Hillary to steal this nomination at the convention.

Why not support McCain. After his landslide win, she would be the ultimate power in her party and washington as McCain, who loves to work with the enemy, would be a grateful supplicate.

There’s no way she’s gonna cross anyone at the convention and pull anything. She’ll be playing the “if Barry gets beat in the general, I’ll be there to say ‘I told you so’ and pick up the pieces”. She won’t be your typical Shrillary – she’ll attempt to be presidential, back Barry, and beat the snot out of McCain. This is her opportunity to show everyone what they missed and remind them that she’s the man for next time.

as she IS trying to have it both ways. She needs to say and do the right things and still hope he loses.

While we call what we’ve seen from her so far “tepid” I don’t even know how to describe Bill so far. It’s pretty clear he downright hates Obama’s guts. He’ll give a good speech I guess, but I expect him to pretty much sit out the campaign season.

I heard Bill Bennett sum it up pretty well this morning. He said the Clintons were leftists who claimed to be centrists, but the Democratic party has moved well left of where the Clintons were.
