Easily the most offending McCain ad made so far.

I guarantee you: the Online Left will be *livid* about it.

Not least because he obviously means…

Class...pure class

That’s class, pure class.

Well done Senator (soon to be President) McCain!

I think his delivery was spot-on. And it was just so straightforward, it was almost drawing contrasts just in its simplicity compared to Obama’s shtick. Anyway, good work I think, I am hoping that being the ‘adult’ in the race will carry some weight.

THIS ONES OUTTA HERE!

Michael Dugas Thursday, August 28th at 4:07PM EDT (link)

What can you say about that video. It is perfect in so many ways. He is able to show
class and portray a sort of camaraderie with Obama while still twisting the knife and snapping off the handle. I love it!
I bet the nutroots are frothin’ at the mouth over this one. You think at the end
of our convention Obama will mimic McCain?

I wonder if I have any Jiffy Pop left?

Thank you, Senator McCain

Reaper0Bot0 (formerly Han_Pritcher) Thursday, August 28th at 4:08PM EDT (link)

That was gracious, kind, and appropriate. Yes, it was also clever (sets a contrast with the negativity of the DNC), but that doesn’t undercut the class he just demonstrated.

No, I’m not being snarky.

Heh. How about that political malpractice?

c17wife Thursday, August 28th at 4:09PM EDT (link)

Yep, this is going to cause a few of Obama’s minions to pop a vein tonight.
Especially that Pfeiffer dude.

Obama communications director Dan Pfeiffer gives an interesting line to Jonathan Martin about the speculation that McCain would leak his vice presidential choice tonight:

“Tonight would be political malpractice,” Obama communications chief Dan Pfeiffer told Politico. “It’s one more piece of evidence that the McCain campaign is a war room masquerading as a presidential campaign.”

My, my, why are they all so angry?

'historic day'?

Sanjong_Thapa Thursday, August 28th at 4:15PM EDT (link)

Can someone fill me in on what Sen. McCain is talking about when he says ‘on this historic day’?

Is it b/c William Ayers was arrested 40yrs ago at the 1968 DNC?

What?

Sorry I screwed up the blockquote.

I, jaded as I am and trained to expect negative campaign ads, kept expecting the other shoe to fall.

Except it didn’t. The ad turned out to be exactly what it promised - a congratulations.

Brilliant. I expect quite a few people on the left will be burning the midnight oil with their Secret Racist Decoder Rings trying to find something, anything, to bash about this.

It’s classy, and the statement, “Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed” is something that cuts both ways. It will stand in stark contrast to the Bush/McCain/Republican bashing of the Democrats’ convention.

Did you honestly think it would take long?

So what’s this silliness about campaigns not being ‘warrooms’?

They’ll probably cry about how despicable it is, but it will be run over and over, and McCain will be compared to Reagan, over and over, and the foreign policy issue will gain increasing exposure.

I am not livid. I think that this is the ad of a man who is basically decent and good. This ad is in line with what my impressions of John McCain were in the past. It has been a while since we saw this side of him.

I think it would be hilarious

to put out a follow-up ad which amends the phrase to “on this 40th anniversary of an historic day.”

Just to see how long the SCUM would take to pick up on it.

Better to not do it, though. Leave ‘perfect’ alone.

BTW, I followed some links from absentee’s “Red in Denver” blog, and I found out that William Ayers was one of the people supporting the attempt to get Ward Churchill reinstated at CU.
