I love “The Age of Obama,” too. That snippet tells us what we need to know about Ms. Ifill’s objectivity.

She is lifeless in her description of Palin. Could she be less happy to be at the Republican convention? Could she possibly make her disgust any clearer or was she having a bad allergy day and completely drugged up on Benadryl?

(IMHO PBS did a good job moderating the first debate)

If Obama wins, her book sells like hotcakes. If he looses….eh, not so much.

Some of this rests on McCain. The book was a known entity prior to McCain agreeing to the debate.

It doesn’t really matter a rat’s butt whom they choose, unless it’s someone from FNC it’s pretty much a given they are in the tank for Obama.

I don’t think we’re being fair to Gwen Ifill in complaining about her obvious conflict of interest. I’m convinced that she can still be impartial as moderator.

Instead, we should push the debate commission to practice fairness by replacing Tom Brokaw as moderator of the next Prez debate with, say, Sean Hannity! or geez, for that matter, Rush.

(BTW, note that the 1st paragraph above contained severe sarcasm!)

You raised taxes on the Oil Companies and then took the money from it and gave it back to the Alaskan people. That is income redistribution the same thing that Barry wants to do.

What is wrong with a tax increase if the beneficiaries are the people? Aren’t you in agreement with Barry and not Johnny?

Then she turns to Biden and asks are you not the author of the greatest crimes against women law in the history of the country? The single law that helped turn the tide against violence against women.

That is more how I envision it unfolding.

Normally I have my opinions and will try to advance them in forums like this where people come to talk about them, but I won’t send unsolicited emails to people and urge them to action. I just did. And then I sent an email. I closed by telling them we would be watching, and we would call “Shenanigans!” and work to have an organization that can bring at least of semblance of balance to the debates if they can’t.

Seriously: The McCain camp blew this, if they allowed this to happen. Amateur hour.

Otherwise, why would they agree to have a “debate” (and the “debates are NOT debates: check out the transcripts of the Lincoln-Douglas debates for a proper use of the term) “moderated” (I feel like Chris Farley) by such a person?

Look at the way the W. Administration has rolled over and played dead against most of the Dems’ criticism of everything it has done, even when the evidence was on the Administration’s side?

Just called the McCain headquaters to voice my opinion. This whole thing is ridiculous. If this isnt the final proof as if we nedded any about the media cheering section what is. I basically said to them it’s time to grow some groin and stand up to these people and tell them no debate unless she steps down. Of course the next thing he will be accused of is racism. This is probably the best thing that could have happened. The “impartial” moderator/media has a pro-Obama book coming out. Now that everyone knows it, she has to try extra-hard to give off the appearance of impartiality. If she doesn’t she’ll have people everywhere crying foul.

Little Ms.Sarah, recently you were heard commenting on a subject that may or may not solve and, or deepen our economic and, or diplomatic malaise and, or stupor. How would you address the proposition that if so, why not?

To the Presidential Debate Commission- As an American citizen, I must ask you to replace Gwen Ifill as moderator for tomorrow’s VP debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. It has been disclosed that Ms. Ifill has a book favorable to Senator Obama that is to be released on Jan. 20, 2009. This is a gross conflict of interest. She can not be allowed to moderate.

I find it troubling that the debate commission did not disclose this information to the McCain campaign nor the public. This is negligence on the part of the committee.

The mainstream media has behaved in a such manner this election season that one might wonder if we are living in Stalin’s Russia or Mao’s China instead of the United States of America. This must stop now.

Now that they know, will the McCain camp DO anything about it? They don’t HAVE to show up, ya know. This would be a perfect opportunity for them to showcase the obvious bias in the drive-by media. The question is, do they have the guts to do it?

I get the feeling that an email to the debate commission is a waste of time. I plan to email McCain’s campaign.

She must debate Biden and also Ifill, she must talk about Ifill’s conflict of interest. If any questions of double standards or coronysim or conflicts of interest come up, she should use the moderator as an example. If the debate turns into a two on one and she defends that, she will win.

Frankly I don’t know how Ifill became a moderator, such an obvious conflict of interest (one wonders how long she hid this or if she even brought it up).

In the essence of fairness to the debate process, I feel it is my duty as an American to ask that Ms. Gwen Ifill be removed from serving as moderator for the first and only vice presidential debate.

The release of Ms. Ifill’s new book supporting and praising Barack Obama creates a genuine conflict of interest in a debate of great importance to this country.

It was completely obvious Bob Dole wiped with Bill Clinton and he was incapable of responding to Dole’s attacks and was reduces to pandering. I drove cab at the time and asked everyone who one and they all said the same thing “Bob Dole was mean spirited”

So think of it like this, we listen to the debate on the radio while the rest of America watches the debate with the sounds all the way down and judging the debate by looks. Then after judging which candidate looked better seeks the 1st spin to support that judgement.

I think that is why Bob Dole lost the debate and Nixon lost to Kennedy why history is recording McCain lost the debate. So I think this is how America will look at the Palin debate.
