Vandalism, death threats against Senator Norm Coleman.

Fairly sophisticated ones, in fact.

Easily too sophisticated for them to come directly from Al Franken’s campaign itself. Via Drudge:

Coleman campaign: Senator’s garage vandalized

ST. PAUL (AP) – A spokesman for Sen. Norm Coleman says that vandals wrote graffiti on the garage of his St. Paul home that called the senator “scum” and a “criminal.”

Coleman and his wife, Laurie, live in the Crocus Hill neighborhood of St. Paul. Spokesman Mark Drake says Wednesday morning that grafitti left on the outside of the garage says: “You are a criminal resign or else”; “Scum,” which is written three times; and “Psalm 2.”

Before I forget: donate to Coleman here, and the NRSC here.

If you’re wondering why I’m calling this a death threat, read Psalm 2:

The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed

2:1 Why do the nations rage [1]
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”

4 He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill.”

7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall break [2] them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

What a charming implied sentiment that is; precisely the sort of thing that would make people scream “theocracy! Christianists!” if the target was a Democratic Jew. Also: note that this is Norm Coleman that we’re talking about, he who recently ended running negative campaign ads. Apparently, this sort of thing just encourages a certain subset of Minnesota Democrats.

Anybody think that this attack will get any kind of meaningful, mature response from Al Franken?

Nah, me neither.

a certain subset of just Minnesota Democrats? I think it’s more than just a subset, and certainly not confined to Minnesota.
Franken will just accuse Republicans of doing it to drum up sympathy for Coleman and “suppress the vote”.

there is a toll over on my diary post about wavering Reps and undecided voters. Clean him up; I must have said something to anger him!

I can understand a Democrat doing well in a moderate state like Minn., but Al Franken is a nasty, angry human being, and to add insult to injury, has absolutely no qualification to be a United States Senator. He also has a history of committing tax fraud.

Yet despite all this, the polls are essentially tied.

I think Coleman will pull it out, but I’m just amazed at how toxic the Republican brand is right now that this Senate race is even close.

    -ing around with your account.

And what Coleman pulled back from using- his opponent’s demonstrated irresponsibility- was not negative advertising.
We are allowing the dhimmies to define the issues and standards of this race.
If I was Coleman, I owuld pour on the steam.
What ever happened to the ktichen?

Norm voted for the bail out. Barkley (independance party.. aka ventura party) and franken said they would have voted aginst it.

Right now Barkley is pulling 18%. I think a large number of those are normal Norm supporters. Weather they come home to Norm in time to vote on the 4th remains to be seen.

  • merkurfan

His oppenants party did not. Heck, they are even painting them on his garage.

The ads where “al didn’t pay taxes in 17 states”

Al says “thats wrong. I did”

Wheres the ad that says, well, yea, Al did pay his taxes after his was cought and threw his accountant under the bus!

Well categorized, there have been several Diaries that have dealt with the “thuggery” of the ObamaBinBiden bigots around RS (hopefully those folks will re-categorize to have them list under that category for easy reference). Burning of signs, physical assault of McCain/Palin supporters, etc…. all, of course, with no MSM coverage.

It is correct, as wt259 pointed out, Democrats across the country engage in hostile words/actions (and detailed in RS Diaries), and I’ll add: resort to violence quickly. They know they can get away with it, the MSM won’t report it. I myself had threats and vandalism against me when I ran for just a County Commission post, daring to challenge a Democrat/Socialists caliphate.

  • Hooke

or anything, but these threats were actually sprayed on the houses of both republican and Democratic congresspersons.

So just perhaps this was not the work of secretive Obama supporters (gasp).

This should really be updated on the front page.
