McCain/Palin’s Pre-Rebuttal to the Infomerical

Well, that's what it *is*.

You can’t blame us for noticing.

Anyway, here it is:

…and it is telling that I feel safe enough to say that the semantic content of this thirty-second ad is going to be roughly about as high as that of said thirty-minute infomercial.

This is not a compliment to the latter.

Moe Lane

PS: Unlike Hot Air’s comments’ section, I actually like the “yet.” As Terry Pratchett once wrote, sometimes you have to be kind to be cruel.

Frankly, I think an ad pointing out that what Obama is saying now doesn’t square with his voting record would have more impact.

Obama voted to raise taxes on people making $42K.

Obama voted to deny gun rights.

Obama voted to deny medical care to infants that survive abortion.

Etc. “Lying to you about his record” would hit harder than “Not ready to lead”.

Campaign should air thirty second commercial after Obama’s infomercial. The commercial should zoom in on the pledge that Obama signed, and breached, and should stress that Obama had the money for the infomercial only because he broke his written pledge. (A mention that he broke a pledge to Hillary won’t hurt either). Can we trust Barack Obama?

Ad #1: An ad about the “idea” being floated to nationalize your 401K by the dems…impacting those who make $30K and up…and where the money will go. (The general fund, where they also put social security, the democratic slush fund) I think national attention to this will put people over the edge.

Ad #2: Card Check legislation will immediately impact business by forcing unions into small businesses like Joe the Plumbers, with 30% (yes and this is a conservative number) unemployment as a result. It will wipe out manufacturers, hedge funds, real estate offices, lawn cutting services, plumbing business et al. I guess we won’t have to worry, as that wealth distribution check we get will take care of us.

I watched it and the “…yet” feels like a sly way of pointing out McCain’s vast experience, while still being civil to Obama. Obama could be ready someday, it says to me, just not today.

    I think it works.

  • wiseprince

I noticed Joe Lieberman said that quite often. I’m guessing they have focus grouped this and didn’t just throw it in

I would especially love to see it run smack dab in the middle but I doubt if there will be any commercial breaks while The Dear One speaks.

The McCain campaign should point out how much Obama is spending, both on this ad and in general, and how that money could have been better spent. Or even better, point out how much his campaign would have paid under his tax plan, if it were taxed as a business (which I think it should be).

to Obama’s half-hour infomercial. All McCain would have to do is introduce the video asking people if the things that Reagan says ring true now.

  • aaronbg

And I am not ashamed that it made me get teary eyed. Anyone who tries to claim that Reagan would be voting for Obama really has no clue. I hope and pray that someday we will heed the words of Reagan and succeed in bringing forth the dream that he and Goldwater shared. Thanks for posting that.

“Barack Obama broke his word on accepting public financing so he could spend millions on a 30-minute infomercial that attempts to explain why raising taxes, redistributing the wealth, and throwing an extra trillion dollars at big government bureaucracy is a good idea.

“I kept my word on public financing, so I have only 30-seconds. Fortunately, my vision for America is straightforward and doesn?t require 30-minutes of Hollywood nuance. I want to grow opportunity for everyone by keeping taxes low, putting hard-working American families in charge of their own money, and cutting spending to make government work more efficiently for you.

“I’m John McCain and I approve this 30-second message.”

My problem is with “Not Ready” not with the “Yet”. Either statement implies that someday he might be ready. Socialism won’t be “ready” in 4 years or 8 or 100. The problem with Obama is that his prescription is wrong. The ad accurately points out a couple of the glaring problems. But the ideas wouldn’t work if we were in better financial shape. They are just bad ideas–and always will be.

  • itrytobenice

Hopefully JM has an ad ready for the immediate aftermath, but a 527 should have run the Reagan tape as soon as JM is done.

I’m not any good at audio/video editing, but with O’s 30-minute infomercial coming up, it would be awesome for someone who can do it to cobble together a good parody. Maybe a takeoff on good ol’ Vince & the Sham-Wow. Anybody think “Obam-WOW” might be a possibility??

amazing how 44 years later it is still JUST AS RELEVANT to our society

for that man or a man like hin, not that I know of one. Funny thing is,all the “good men” I know these days are women.

We’re poised on that step into a thousand years of darkness.
