Hi! Are you a libertarian supporting Obama?

You are?

If you are, I just wanted to let you know something:

That was deliberate of him. That was, in fact, the verbal equivalent of him urinating on you, just to demonstrate that he could urinate on you and get away with it. Although I suspect that the alternative – that both the man and his staff isn’t sufficiently checked out on Ayn Rand to understand the insult implicit in the use of the phrase that way – might be plausible. Not very comforting to libertarians, either, but plausible.

Anyway. Have fun voting for the looter!

Moe Lane

How Can Any Libertarian Support Him?

DavidSage (Diary) Friday, October 31st at 9:21PM EST (link)

I though one thing Conservatives and Libertarians could always agree on was our opposition to socialism.

I have many friends that call themselves “libertarians”, but vote Democrat. It’s always for the dumbest reasons, they think Republicans are preachers in disguise that are intolerant.

I can’t understand how any libertarian can support a liberal Democrat, but to support a true socialist like Obama is even more absurd.

Socialism is the exact opposite of libertarianism. If you believe in the philosophy of smaller government, don’t vote for socialism. More money to the state and less economic freedom for our citizens will destroy whatever liberty we have left in this country.

Most "libertarians"

mobius2702 (Diary) Friday, October 31st at 10:08PM EST (link)

Most “libertarians” I know can’t see beyond their bedroom door.

They think they are “free thinkers” because they support gay marriage or a “right to choose” or use drugs or whatever, but have absolutely no concept of economic freedom.

Their idea of economic freedom consists of being able to buy what the other guy has, and if they can’t, they immediately jump to some conspiracy theory about how “the man” is keeping us down.

I can more easily tolerate draconian social laws than a draconian tax system… until “they” send the authorities to my house and break down my door over social issues, I’m good.

But to give up economic freedom in order to have more social freedom is absurd. Economic freedom affects what I earn, what I buy, and how I live far more than any anti-porn laws or anti-drug laws or whatever. I can pay a fine here and there if need be for breaking social taboos, but only for as long as I have economic freedoms.

Most “independent libertarians” I know have it backwards.

(Note: This does not in anyway reflect on those here with a libertarian streak, this is a commentary on the liberals I know who don’t understand that big government socialism attacks economic freedom first, but don’t see that after they get done with the economics, they’ll be more than happy to go after thought.)

Or did that line about making a virtue out of selfishness fall totally flat with the crowd?

Ayn Rand Hated Libertarians

MuskegonCritic Friday, October 31st at 11:29PM EST (link)

What does Ayn Rand have to say about Libertarians?

Check out the Any Rand Institute excerpt and Ms. Rand’s own words.

When asked what she thought of the Libertarian Party she said ” I’d rather vote for Bob Hope, the Marx Brothers, or Jerry Lewis. I don’t think they’re as funny as Professor Hospers and the Libertarian Party.”

So…Libertarians, Obama is DEFENDING your cause in his insult of Ayn Rand’s book.

A valiant effort, but note the lack of capitalization...

And to be really fair…Ayn Rand pretty much hated everybody.

it seems to me

there are two kinds of libertarians. there are libertarian republicans who are classic liberals. then there is the libertarian party who are anarchist communists; they are in opposition to all forms of political power, hierarchy and domination.

Charity vs. Socialism

briefsynopsis (Diary) Saturday, November 1st at 9:07AM EST (link)

Hey Barry,
When you freely give/share of your own accord it is called Charity.
When the teacher, legislated by the Principle commands the teacher to take from you and give to another under the guise of Fairness/equality, that my friend is socialism.
A tad more time in the “real world” and this would be apparent to you also.

Have you Hugged a “Special Operations Warrior” today?

Point taken.
