Antiwar protestors chase disabled man through streets of NYC.

Probably wishing all the time that Bob Kerrey was a Jew.

I’m given to understand that it’s just not the same when you’re chasing a gentile*. Mind you, he got away. That’s because the part of Bob Kerrey’s leg that was left behind in Vietnam is of more intrinsic value to society than a member of the antiwar movement, and is almost certainly still in better physical shape:

A little after 11:30 p.m., Mr. Kerrey emerged from a university building on Fifth Avenue south of 14th Street to a sea of a few hundred protesters chanting for his resignation. As Mr. Kerrey walked down Fifth Avenue toward 12th Street, about 30 protesters began following him, some of them shouting insults.

As the crowd’s pace quickened, so did Mr. Kerrey’s. Then, Mr. Kerrey, who lost a part of his leg in Vietnam and wears a prosthesis, broke into a run. The protesters gave chase. Mr. Kerrey turned left on a cross street and ducked into a brownstone.

They’re not even particularly good brownshirts, thankfully. But check out the comment section: it took about #49 or so before somebody had the mother-wit to say, You know, chasing an elderly disabled man down the street while things are thrown at him is kind of, well, sick – and even then it was one of us VRWC knuckle-dragging interlopers who made what would be expected to be the first response of anyone normal.

Ach, well. Progressives.

PS: I neither really know nor particularly care about whatever it is going on at the New School that got the would-be Sturmabteilung off and running… what? Don’t like me comparing antiwar protesters to Nazis? Well, have them stop spending their nights trying to chase down elderly disabled men who disagree with them politically, then. Anyway, I’m sure that the original issue is all very interesting, to a certain sort of mind.

PPS: This all happened two weeks ago, by the way – and apparently the protesters accomplished about as much on their political activism as they did with their pick-up torchlight mob; which is to say, nothing much at all.

*I wouldn’t know personally, either way. I’m a Republican, after all.

New Hall University is getting more bad press lately. The kids are trashing the school (they literally tried to block some bldgs for coupld days till police dragged them out), trying to kick Fmr Senator Bob Kerry from presidency, and now this vile act.

    Disgusting.

Every time I read something like that, it strikes me what a bunch of insulated, self-centered brats college students can be. They’re not all that way (so please spare me the insults), but many have no idea what the real world is all about. I’ve often thought (since leaving college myself) that a one-year hiatus from schooling would help kids gain a bit of perspective and wisdom before continuing their education.

However, I don’t think the pinheads who chased down Kerrey have much hope of obtaining sufficient wisdom to overcome their apparent shortcomings.

Just a mob of bullies like any other mob of bullies; the IQ of the mob was the IQ of the stupidest one divided by the number in the mob.

  • Praveen

This mob mentality is disturbing. The comments to the nytimes blog are even more so. No matter what cause, chasing anyone on streets is despicable in a civilized world. And chasing a Vet? Throwing tomato? Somehow these “revolutionaries” think that was brave. I think some time in jail would be a good learning experience for these guys.

This is a crappy school. And its not entirely the fault of administrators.

Chasing down an amputee just because of the difference in ideology/opinion? Disgusting and aven’t these people heard about the very “liberal” and “democrat” concept called “Right of the Disabled”?

Drinking too much liberalism and neo-socialism (ie. world peace/world government ideology) drives a rational American into an American Idiot. The dangerous part is the fact that these idiots don’t have any clue how idiotic their thinking and actions are. Chasing a man without a leg is the first idiotic story that I have heard of in 2009.

But I am telling myself that I have to be accustomed to these kind of incidents in order to survive the next 4 years …considering that many in the Obama Administration are policy “idiots”.

The Reign of the Libs and Dems….. Ahhhh! Good Lord, is this a sort of punishment to us?

These guys are trying to make their way through the mob that’s trying to pin them in. Note just after the 0:35 mark the woman in the middle of the screen with no hat and her back to them. She makes sure she stays in front of them. The first guy sort of elbows his way past her as he rounds the corner, and she shoves herself in front of him again. At that point he is using his arms to make his way through and she and another woman against the wall go down.

Then at the end it gets hilarious. At 2:25 some brave dude pokes his head out from behind a woman to yell, “You are a coward!” and then immediately hides behind her again. The no-hat woman whines at 2:40, “I’m not going to be calm – he just picked me up and threw me on the floor!” Reminds me of the guy at that speech a couple years ago (John Kerry in Florida?).

And here is video of the mob chasing Bob Kerrey. In addition to “Resign!” and such they are yelling things like “War criminal!” “Down with the New World Order!” What a crew of peaceful, progressive, geniuses this school has.

There are times when I wonder if a little Islamic law might be good for dealing with people such as these, but then I remember that the Islamists (like the communists) like to have little bands of thugs like these running around just to keep the potential rebels from coming out and joining forces against them.  Comes a time, I suppose, when they’ll feel “brave” enough to follow through and actually kill a vet.  I think they’d be able to get away with it in New York City.

That was the part that confused me: I mean, we all know that the hardcore antiwar protesters are poseurs, but thirty to one odds sounds about right for them…

Our fetid universities need a good defunding. Let them exist ONLY on donations from alum and tuition. Take away ALL federal $$.

Who else would give it a title of:
“Brutality by the New School security at the sit in on 12/18/08″
Anyone else would have given the title of:
“Brutality by the New School Students against New School President who was Rescued by Security on 12/18/08″

  • Raven

Didn’t take but 2 or 3 before someone started pointing out that the students were in the wrong and that security did nothing wrong…

  • Raven

You don’t see this happening to the vets of the current wars of of Desert Storm quite so much. It’s mostly being done to Vietnam Vets, despite the 40 years in between now and then…

  • Praveen

I have been thinking this since morning…. I bet these guys would have fled at the first sight.

Now I truly understand why the firearm sales are up… i.e. liberals have taken over and everybody needs to protect themselves from the Mob.

  • Darin_H

is because they’re older and the ‘progressives’ probably think they can hold their own against the seniors instead of 35 year olds. They’re wrong, of course, with the stories I’ve read about 85 year old Marine kicking the living snot out of some robbers. They’re cowards in crowds, much like the internet they think they are only boastful when they can hide.

  • itrytobenice

and the students had been chasing an elderly official around, threatening him and throwing things at him, I suspect it would have received a bit more attention, no?
