we should expect nothing less from the Senate. Anything less will be grounds for excommunication. I don’t care about any measure of pork-trimming or logrolling… the Generational Debt Bill of 2009 is a piece of trash in any form, and any senator rolled to vote for it must be removed.

I shall actively rally against ANY Republican who ends up logrolled.

…Even if this means contributing to a Democrat challenger. It is that serious.

I keep wondering what happened to the daily reminders from Democratic leadership about who won. They have the presidency. They have the majority in Congress. This bill is theirs, all theirs, but they still do not want to own it. At least they could do is have the courage of their convictions, but I suppose that would require their having convictions (and courage) instead of just coffers to line.

…because the Democrats may get 60 seats in the senate if Greg becomes Commerce secretary.

I attended a townhall meeting in St. Cloud, MN this morning. One of the local businessmen told me that his contact in DC is saying that the less-than-stimulating stimulus bill is about to undergo a major rewrite. I wrote about that here:

In quite a number of years of watching politics. I have never seen a group of people who won so decisive a victory behave in such a timid manner. This is a major “tell”, and the last thing the Republicans should do is give any political cover whatsoever. They won, after all.

The best thing that Senate Republicans can do politically is to thank Obama for his concern, inform the press that they must, sadly, oppose the stimulus bill out of principle, then go dark. No communication, no contact, no compromise. Let the Dems write the bill and bring it to the floor, then simply vote “no”.

It is high time the burden of governing and tough decisions be hung around a few Democrat necks.

I guess that No Child Left Behind didn’t quite fulfill its promise.

He is the worst majority leader from either party for at least a generation, and maybe two. It’s not only that his policies are bad - some dreadfully bad - but that his remarks are so rash and just so silly. You don’t even have to add anything to his comments in order to turn them into jokes. You just have to give a confused look.

And how is it that the worst Senate majority leader in a generation (or two) AND the worst House speaker in a generation (or two) arrived at the same moment?

If the Senate ‘Pubs can stick together on the ‘nay’ side, many strange and wonderful things are possible, even with a minority.

It is imperative that now of all times we maintain our position as the party of principles. Let the Dem’s be the party of “For Gawd’s sake, do SOMETHING!”
