I think the biggest blunder that Obama made was rushing this through so fast. This will give us plenty of time to show them that it is making things worse. If Obama would have waited another 5-6 months they could have timed the 2010 elections to greater effect. Perhaps Obama was thinking if he waited too long then the economy would have been in recovery mode and he would have wasted his crisis.

I’ve been saying this for a bit of time now.

Maybe somebody will actually listen when they can’t get care for their parents or themselves.

what will the reaction be to the next TARP giveaway program coming soon from the Sec. Treasury? If these spending programs were water, the Left has their version of water boarding the nation.

1. Obama and the Democrats ram through a stimulus bill with a few moderate GOPers.

2. Obama and the Democrats suffer in the short-term because of deficits and Republicans and talk-radio lambasting the pork and wasteful spending. The GOP scores wins in Virginia, NY-20, and comes close in New Jersey.

3. Sometime next year, the economy will begin to rebound (as it always inevitably does), just in time for the 2010 elections. Obama and the Democrats regain in the polls and trash Republicans for opposing the stimulus when it (as they will claim) is the sole reason for the economic recovery. The stimulus had absolutely nothing to do the economic recovery, but it doesn’t matter - the media gives the stimulus (and Obama) all the credit.

4. Democrats get all the credit for the economy rebounding, and Republicans poll numbers plummet (the economy recovered in spite of, not because of the stimulus - but the public doesn’t get it). Obama is hailed as an economic guru in the press. He stumps in key senate races in Florida, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Missouri.

5. Flush with billions in taxpayer money from the stimulus, ACORN enables the Democrats to score a smashing win in the mid-term elections, giving a major boost to Obama and his left-wing agenda, and neuters Republican opposition. The 2010 Rahm Emanuel-directed census allows Democrats to lock in an almost insurmountable electoral advantage for a generation.

That’s an admittedly pessimistic take, but I am pissed off right now. Please, someone refute this stuff - I am stuck in a negative cycle right now.

Those predicting economic recovery are giving this bunch of marxist fools way too much credit.
If and I do mean IF a recovery happens it will be shallow and short.
What has occurred policy and action wise in the last couple weeks is just a start to the marxism/ eco-socialist nonsense.
Couple all the fear they are spreading NOW with the reality within the business community that these idiots actually do mean to bankrupt the coal industry, levy carbon taxes on everything that breathes or combusts and punish - tax- anyone that produces/ works and the what hiring that does occur will be near nil.
Throw in an international - read ME- event that drives energy back into the $4-6./gallon range and Carter’s years will be a picnic.
They are weak on law enforcement and lousy on national defense so we can expect crime and domestic terrorist attacks to rise or occur.

When this does pass, and when the economy does recover in spite of this stimulus, he is going to get all the credit.

We have to be out in front of that, making sure to say that it will recover regardless, but it is 10 years down the line that we need to worry about.

Why in the world is Obama wasting money and contributing to global warming by flying around the country campaigning? He has and always had enough votes in the House and Senate to pass whatever pleases him. This is all just a big political stunt. He doesn’t care about the country. All he cares about is his own political standing. All he wants is to grind any Republican into dusk. I am sick of this and the toady press that is playing it like the whole bill is on the verge of collapsing - I wish.
