Byrd vs. Obama on the Constitution.

Why, you and him fighting is a lovely idea. Have at it!

As in, Obama needs to stay on his side of the line drawn by it:

Byrd: Obama in power grab

Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.), the longest-serving Democratic senator, is criticizing President Obama’s appointment of White House “czars” to oversee federal policy, saying these executive positions amount to a power grab by the executive branch.

In a letter to Obama on Wednesday, Byrd complained about Obama’s decision to create White House offices on health reform, urban affairs policy, and energy and climate change. Byrd said such positions “can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances. At the worst, White House staff have taken direction and control of programmatic areas that are the statutory responsibility of Senate-confirmed officials.”

While it’s rare for Byrd to criticize a president in his own party, Byrd is a stern constitutional scholar who has always stood up for the legislative branch in its role in checking the power of the White House.

Not to mention a former Klansman, but the netroots have never cared about that before; why should they start now?

If you expect me to have an opinion, don’t; except that it’s nice to see that somebody in the Democratic Party makes some pretense towards having intellectual consistency. Shame that it’s the 91 year old, but beggars can’t be choosers; anyway, this is Blue-on-Blue, and I hope that they have fun with it. The really interesting bit next week is how that Rove executive privilege thing that the Politico article mentions later turns out next week; we all know which side that the Democratic base wants the executive branch to come down on, but then the Democratic base aren’t the ones who might get subpoenaed down the line…

We all should agree that the Constitution needs to upheld. The Constiution as it is written and amended that is.

Byrd is right that we should not have an Imperial President regardless of his (And one day her/Sarah’s) party.

We'll see if Byrd comes out against the unconstitutional 'give DC a House Representative' bill (n/t)

while I agree with the intent of the bill, giving sufferage to the some 600,000 residents of D.C., I simply can’t get around the constitution. The only legal way to do it would be a constitutional amendmant which would probably pass but would be much harder to do. I feel pro-DC opponents are trying to take the easy quick method instead of the decade long amendmant process. At least with an admendmant the state could be given Senate Representation as well.

and it triggers”Constitution” in that rat maze of a brain. Otherwise it’s play doh.
One reason why the new Kitchen Cabinet is being formed by the Big O is it gives him a little more of what his shady self craves, cover, executive privilege, just another sandbag to hide behind.

If Obama and the dems are not adhearing to the Constitution

then neither should the states or governors.

Each state is now a republic since Obama has shreaded
the Constitution. I would rather pay what I paid the Feds
in taxes directly to my state. Let’s see how long the blue
states would last in an economic civil war.

While Byrd is right here...

I really hate to take up anything that supports Byrd. That said, he is right here and I would just hope that the States would take up the 10th amendment with equal enthusiasm.
