Depressed? DEPRESSED?

Worried? Sure. Who wouldn’t be? Somewhere around 2 PM on January 20, 2009 what had previously been a fairly smooth and responsible conducting of the country’s business abruptly melted down. Since then the economy’s gone into a tailspin, everyone’s stopped pretending that post-partisanship is anything except a null statement, every two-bit dictator and strongman in the world is testing the limits of our forbearance, and we’re seeing the first signs that our chattering classes are nursing one powerful post-Inaugural hangover.

I SAID, WE’RE SEEING THE FIRST SIGNS THAT OUR CHATTERING CLASSES ARE NURSING ONE POWERFUL POST-INAUGURAL HANGOVER.

So worry I can understand. Depression? Not so much – at least, not for me, and not for you, either. Do you know why?

It’s because I’m free, and so are you.

I originally had about four paragraphs of blather, here, but let me cut to the chase: the USA took responsibility for governance away from the GOP back in November of 2008, and if the Democratic party thought that they could hack it on their own they’d not be spending so much time trying to bluster, threaten, and/or otherwise force us into signing off on their policies. We’re under no such obligation: and they used up all the names already that they could call us in the last election cycle (including the four-letter ones), so there’s little that they can do there, either. And, of course, the Democrats have no intention of actually changing their policies to accommodate our opinions: it would clash horribly with their existing position that the GOP is made up of illiterate, [Insert Group here]-hating, hyper-rich regional hicks.

Thus, we can enter into the 2010 election cycle with light hearts and unworried brows. The disaster has already happened. We’re now in the aftermath. Many people are busily – and fruitfully – discussing what our message should be for next year, what our message should not be, whether we should have a message at all; personally, I think that we’ve got plenty of time to come up with one, not to mention a leader or seven to help spread it… but what we need to do now more than anything else is to demonstrate that we actually believe what we’re saying. Which we do, even when we suspect that some of our legislators don’t… and the Democrats are now discovering that rather more of theirs don’t actually match word with deed. That puts them on the defensive, for a change; and I look forward to the luxury of being able to pick my battles and call my shots.

So I’m not depressed, and neither should you be: we’re actually primed to have a lot of fun this election cycle. If you still are depressed, like Glenn Reynolds I recommend ShrinkWrapped’s quote as an antidote:

“If people are in despair it is up to them to refuse indulge in the passivity that is the only way Obama succeeds in remaking this country, and take action. Turning passive into active is a time honored treatment for depression.”

This is not hard!!!! YOU are exactly the man to do it.

    The message should be:

THE “CHANGE” YOU WERE SOLD HAS MADE YOUR LIFE WORSE!!!

from there all you need to do is speak the truth. It won’t be hard to believe in what you are saying, because the facts are going to back you up.

We will have high unemployment! thanks to Card check and Cap gains and income taxes

We will have high energy costs! thanks to no drilling and no real energy plan, cap and trade and taxes on Gulf drillers

We will have Hyper-inflation! Thanks to unions, taxes, bailout after bailout and dollar decline.

We will have higher interest rates! thanks to the fed and it ability to not get a handle on inflation.

We will have higher medical costs! thanks to uhs and Medicare Advantage cuts

We will be less safe! thanks to the num-nuts foreign policy

This message can be spun in sooooo many ways. Get on message and use exactly his own words against him. NOW

Is this the “CHANGE” you were hoping for? higher taxes, higher unemployment, higher medical costs, higher inflation, less secure america!

Did your Stress level “CHANGE” more in the last 4 years since Democratic Congress came to power in 2006?

Did your 401k “CHANGE” your prosperity? Let me guess? worse, right.

Did your Energy bills leave you with less “CHANGE” in your pocket?

Are your Grandchildren going to be able to “CHANGE” the amount of debt that has bee strapped to their future butts by Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, O’liar and Frank?

Did Barrack Obama “CHANGE” his mind and go back on every campaign promise he every made, or did he just straight lie to the American people about his Socialist Agenda.
-then show every promise backed up with the facts of what he did

Let the GOP help “CHANGE” your mind, by being honest, courteous, kind, sincere and willing to work for your vote!!!!!

    THEN YOU WILL HAVE EVERYONE.

What you have to remember is that the MSM sold George Bush as a liar on Irag and Weapons of Mass destruction. I know its BS, but it worked. Almost everyone i talked to who voted for Bush 2004- then switched to Dem vote this time, when I worked it down from them, it was about Honesty. They felt lied too..

Well they feel even more decieved now.

THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s all we need. Reaganesque to the core.

    It could never be easier.

Oh yeah 1 more: Are you DEPRESSED about the current “CHANGE” of opportunities Barack Obama and the Democrats have left you. Vote Republican!! Vote Optimism!!

P.s whenever you have audio you need to use BO’s voice for the “CHANGE” part. It will hammer him into the ground

Somewhere around 2 PM on January 20, 2009 what had previously been a fairly smooth and responsible conducting of the country?s business abruptly melted down.

This, of course, is galactic nonsense, in an otherwise superbly written post that misses the entire point of Bush and the Republican Party’s unpopularity: his refusal after 2001 to mobilize the nation for war.

Master Sun’s principles cannot be deviated from in the expectation that one will prevail in war.

Former Presdident Bush refused to raise war taxes, ask for any sort of Declaration of War, mobilize the nation’s industries, appoint prominent, serious pro-war Democrats to his cabinets (as Roosevelt did with Henry Stimson in 1940), and properly supervise the conduct of the war as both Lincoln and Roosevelt did. As a result, the national coherence of the post-9/11 period withered away into a partisan rancor that Roosevelt never would have countenanced.

I do not in any way praise the Congressional Democrats, but the fish rots from the head. They were given no skin in the game, and were allowed to stand outside the tent and urinate into it, so to speak.

The rest of the post I agree with, but make no mistake, there is a wisdom in crowds, and the people judged that our party and the Administration had failed them by 2008. You can’t just gloss over that.

should not need to include any discussion of Obama or his vacuous message of “hope” and “change”. The conservative message may need a freshening of language and examples. Portions of that message should be emphasized as the most relevant for today’s primary issues. But the message should not be “What Obama is pushing is bad or isn’t working” it should be that conservatism will work better.

    1. A loud, discordant noise.
    2. A hangover.
    3. A state of depression or bewilderment.

    From Freedictionary.com

We are witnessing a real-life historical event all right. After a loud, discordant noise while the American people were drunk on Koolaid, a power-hungry socialist took power. We are now watching and listening to the hangover of the American people as they stand idly by and watch our nation destroyed by radicals. I am truly bewildered.

    Shouldn’t be hard to do…….

So they won the election and control of the country-but it has just about exploded in their hands in the first 100 days!! By two years they will be looking rough by four, America will see them for the manipulative lying deceitful jackasses they are…..and then put a wise old elephant in office.

From a distance a donkey looks like a noble stallion… up close it’s somehow, a bit,…. disappointing. So goes the Obama experience.

Some lefties think that we, on the right, are the enemy that needs to be defeated. The only way they’ll see the Truth is when their own heads are being sawed off.

    EVERYTHING!

It will be hard for even the Republican leadership to blow the opportunity that is looming in 2010.
