USA to boycott Durban II.

Just like Bush.

We are not going to the Bash-the-Jews Durban Review Conference after all:

US boycotts UN racism conference

Washington has confirmed it will boycott a UN forum on racism in Geneva next week because of differences over Israel and the right to free speech.

The state department said the proposed text of the conference’s guiding document remained unacceptable despite having been amended significantly.

Not very surprising, although I’d like to clear up something for the BBC. There has not been any sort of internal debate “raging” in the United States over this issue. The American people have consistently shown their support for Israel, and that hasn’t changed. What had happened was that various fringe groups in the United States had been pushing as hard as they could for some sort of flexibility in the language that would create a rhetoric crack in the pavement for future Israel-bashing behavior. This, of course, failed miserably: anti-Semitism is, after all, the bigotry of choice of the mediocre who wishes to think of himself as superior. Not sure why that is: nonetheless, we’re not going to this travesty.

I’d say “better luck next time,” except that I don’t even remotely mean it.

Thank God for that……. Now if we can get him to stop pandering to the dictator who is a holocaust denier and sole reason for getting up in the morning is to wipe the Jewish state off the map, we could be heading in the right direction.

About time the Obama administration stopped the US World Apology tour. If this were truly a conference on racism, we should be organizing it and hosting it. But since it is just a “bash Israel” and “Blame the US While Ignoring Real Human Rights Abuses” Conference, true human rights workers should stay away.

The rest of the world can pay for this crap on their own.

And if they keep it up we should repossess the UN building and kick them out of the country.

Especially based on his behavior over the last couple of days, I thought for sure Obama would send a delegation.

I’m at a loss on the change of heart – maybe Hillary put her foot down?…

  • SoFiMil

However, this was not a difficult decision–or at least should not have been. We’ll have to wait to hear the inside scoop from TOTUS.

I hope Obama doesn’t break out his “only the most difficult decisions come to my desk…there are commendable views on both sides, etc.” rhetoric.

So…the Administration decided not to send a delegation to an incredibly racist conference? Our response shouldn’t be “oooh…good call fearless leader”; it should be something like this:

“Of COURSE we won’t be participating in this! And SHAME ON YOU, Mr. Obama, for sending your regrets! Why do you regret it? It’s because you’re losing a golden opportunity to prance around with murderous despots, isn’t it?”

I am surprised as well…. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but you are correct, his actions the last few days would have proven otherwise. I cannot help but think he was put up to it..

I wonder why Dear Leader ZerO stopped the America Sux Tour 2009. Maybe because all our allies ignored him and all our enemies laughed at him?
I bet he restarts it up when he gets a new touring band, Al Sharpton on inflationary rhetoric mic, Rev. Wright on *#&$Da*& America bass, Bill Ayers on bombing drums.

  • JadedByPolitics

that there was EVER a consideration by this Administration to attend this HATE ISRAEL forum was disgusting and low class! So now WE are supposed to thank him for doing the RIGHT thing? I THINK NOT!

  • SoFiMil

An addednum to my above comment. Amy is exactly right. The one got another one wrong.

  • red4ever

the response should have been “Drop dead, we ain’t coming becuase you all are idiots.”

Okay, it really should say something else, but Redstate has a rule against what I would like to say.

I’ll believe this boycott is true when I see no US representative at the actual conference.

Yes, that makes me a cynical s.o.b. I don’t care. I don’t trust this current administration in the slightest bit.

With the announcement though, this means Iranian President Iminthemood Foraheadinajar will be the main pop star in attendance for our mainstream media to fawn over.

One of the few pieces of legislation Obama sponsored in his approximately 100 days in the senate would bacisally have the US paying taxes to the UN; as I recall, it was about 1% of GDP to go *by law* to the UN in order to “fight world poverty”. Knowing the UN’s track record on corruption, I’m sure that the kind of world povery it would have ended up fighting would proably not be what the “save the children” folks talk about.

  • Next93

We don’t NEED a UN conference to tell us what a hopelessly racist country we are. That waht we have Obamma for!

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

Yeah, Obama just might try to sneak somebody in. We shall see.

  • Praveen

I have already called Americans every name in the book(Wright’s book)…. And that is not helping my poll numbers. So I don’t need another platform.

Refusing to go to the conference was obvious thing for me. I will get Iran to wipe Israel off the map. Why do I need to go to this conference when I can get the actual job done anyways. Soon I am going to be engaging my Iranian buddies, who are full speed ahead into nuclear armament. I will use that opportunity to stick it to Israel.

    You guys are ignorant.

I got to run. I can’t miss one of those amazing sermons from Rev. Wright.

Since Obama has been the one pressing talking unconditionally to anyone and everyone, especially if they hate the US it seems, this conference is right up his alley.
