Obama Opposes Releasing Photos of U.S. Detainee Abuse
President Obama has decided not to release photos which the Pentagon had planned to released by May 28 in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.President Obama has decided not to release hundreds of photos potentially showing U.S. military personnel abusing prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York City and the Pentagon.
A senior administration official told FOX News that Obama met with his legal team last week and told them that he did not feel comfortable with the release of the photos because he believes they would endanger U.S. troops, and that the national security implications of such a release have not been fully presented to the court.

President Obama met with White House counsel Greg Craig and other members of the White House counsel team last week and told them that he had second thoughts about the decision to hand over photographs of detainee abuse to the ACLU, per a judge’s order, and had changed his mind.
The president “believes their release would endanger our troops,” a White House official says, adding that the president “believes that the national security implications of such a release have not been fully presented to the court.”
They decided this last week. One wonders why it took them this long to mention it. Even the usual “new polls came in” excuse won’t fly, this time: we knew Friday that the Democrats were losing the initiative in this argument.

As is the case with most bullies as long as you let them they will bully you, but it is amazing that when you stand up to them and force their hand you see that they are the biggest cowards of all.
You might not win every fight but the end result is the same, between you and an easier target, they will go after the easier target every time because they know that you will fight. We need to take the lessons from grade school and apply them to the Democratic Party. As the former Vice President has shown us, the bully will back down. You either learn from the past or you are doomed to repeat it.

This from a POLITICO article linked on Drudge:
“If it’s true that they’re reversing position, we find that wholly unacceptable,” ACLU attorney Jameel Jaffer told POLITICO. “It’s inconsistent with the commitment they’ve made to the court and its inconsistent with the promise of transparency that they’ve repeated many times both before the election and since.”
I count one “they’re” and two “they’ve” in such a short statement.

beanerecmo Thursday, May 14th at 8:46PM EST (link)With this decision, Obama gets both the sides; he’s trying not to put our troops more in harm’s way (for conservatives); then, he lets the courts decide by putting up a lame challenge, and the courts rule the photos must be released (and they will be for the left). Remember, he wanted to release these without any pressure except from the left, but Rham and Axelrod see a win-win for Obama by taking this route. Of course, if he really doesn’t want to release the photos, he could do that with an executive order, but he has no spine against Soros and he really doesn’t like America and wants to remake it in his image, not what the founding fathers had in mind.
I was a liberal until I learned to read, got a job and was mugged by willful tax and spend regressives (aka progressives) and naive acolytes.
