Senator Webb comes out against Gitmo.

You have the right to neither surprise, nor a sense of betrayal.

Oh, Webb is saying that he’s merely against the timetable, but that’s just political-speak for ‘I need to start laying down the groundwork for my retreat on this issue.’ By this time next year he’ll be telling everybody how he’s fully satisfied that Obama’s ‘reform’ of Gitmo addresses the issues brought up during the campaign, etc, etc, etc. Amazing how quickly some of these guys catch Washington Establishment Disease, huh?

Webb opposes Gitmo timetable

Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., says he now disagrees with President Barack Obama’s timetable to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp in January 2010.

But Webb supports Obama’s idea of reviving military commissions to try some terror suspects now detained there.

Webb, appearing on ABC’s “This Week” program, acknowledged that in January he said the president had established a reasonable timeline for closing the detention center.

He said he has changed his mind on the timetable.

More accurately, the polls changed his mind. It’s nice to see that Senator Webb has learned how to act like a proper member of his current caucus…

I actually have more respect for dyed in the wool liberals. I cant stand phonies like him. His campaigning in combat boots; calling himself a redneck; acting like some populist; pulling his veteran card on Bush. He lays in bed with Ameica haters and traitors and poses like so good old boy moderate. I hope Cantor (or maybe Allen?) crushes him in 2012

I think she might need to borrow Webb’s boots, its starting to get too deep for her SanFran pumps.

Even ignoring flip-flopping on the issue, he seemed perfectly content when candidate Obama set an arbitrary timetable for complete withdrawal from Iraq. Why ask generals what they think if you’ve gone to the trouble of grabbing some number out of the air that focus groups seem to like? If you can set an arbitrary timetable for pulling out 150K or so troops, setting one for moving ~240 detainees should be a piece of cake right? Gee, it couldn’t be that he’s got constituents ringing his phone off the hook since hearing that some of these scum would be dumped in VA is it?

Since the Webb Senate seat was bought and paid for by the Washington Post, you’d think he’d show a little more gratitude.

If even he doesn’t have any gumption on these issues, there is no hope for any Dems in the near and intermediate future.

In fact I was going to use those exact words, did you read my mind? ;-) lol

The more these clowns flop around like a fish out of water, the harder it is for Voters to ignore it.

He was before it before he was against it.

Needs to lick Obama’s boots so his prison reform programs get the green light. Or, maybe he’s hoping for an Obama/Webb ticket in 2012. Either way, God help Virginia.

    Vote McDonnell for Governor.

I just can’t forget Sen. Webb’s elitism in favor of his precious “he-who-must-not-be-harmed soldier” son.

He’s the worst flip-flopper of all time. Not Specter.
