FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

The Democratic Virginia primary continues to not surprise.

(Via Jen Rubin) With two weeks left in the Virginia Democratic primary, the failed DNC chairman from New York is still ahead of both the corrupt brother of an anti-Semite and the guy who keeps hitting people with his car (thanks, Jim Geraghty), but the guy with the car is coming up fast:

Raleigh, N.C. – The only candidate who has moved forward in the last two and a half weeks in the Virginia Democratic contest for Governor is Creigh Deeds, but Terry McAuliffe continues to hold a solid overall lead.
McAuliffe is at 29%, followed by Brian Moran and Deeds tied at 20%. PPP’s most recent previous poll had McAuliffe at 30%, Moran at 20%, and Deeds with 14%.

Meanwhile, the brother to the anti-Semite and the guy with the car are both going after the failed DNC chair, presumably because they’re worried that Bob McDonnell may not have been keeping proper notes, or something.

After a largely genteel campaign, McAuliffe, the former Democratic National Committee chairman, has suddenly become the axis around which the race turns as state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds and former Del. Brian Moran zero in on everything ranging from McAuliffe’s stewardship of the national party to his business dealings to his penchant for hyperbole.

Personally, I can see advantages to running against the failed DNC chair, the brother to an anti-Semite, or the guy with the car, so it doesn’t really matter to me which one of the three eventually limps over the finish line. Just as long as they keep helpfully pointing out each other’s flaws, of course. After all: surely it won’t make any difference in November, and even if it does? Why, it’s only one race.

PS: That being said: bringing in Tom Daschle to do damage control? Tsk, tsk, tsk, failed DNC chair. Not very smart of you.

I am glad to see my $$s spent by the GOP in VA for the Governor’s race. You can tell that the Democrats do not have a candidate yet since they are only running anti-McDonnell ads from a group called something “common sense” with a guy complaining that Bob McDonnell would have not accepted federal money from the stimulus to get this guy’s job back, what a load of horse manure. Anyway, I was glad to see McDonnell’s commercial immediately following it which looked a little better produced and a little less whiney.

or to say it better, the least statist moonbat. He also has the least baggage. It would make sense for the Dems to pick Deeds, so we don’t need to worry about his winning this thing.

But the Virginia GOP has had a knack for forming itself into circular firing squads lately. While I can say that McDonnell will be clearly favored against any of the three potential opponents I can’t say that it’s a slam dunk.

And it will be a hallow victory if we can’t get some more conservatives into the House of Delegates. Currently Republicans are in the majority, conservatives are in the minority.

but I have seen the other add. I’d say this would be one of the places for GOP supporters with the big bucks could spend their money to good effect. It sounds like another Soros group to me, and I think some adds asking why George Soros can’t pay for his own adds instead of setting up front groups would be helpful not only to Virginia, but the rest of the country.

I have no love, like or respect for this politician.

By that, I mean, which Democrat could McDonnell most easily defeat? We should vote for that candidate in the primary.

Being a relative newcomer to VA, I didn’t know Deeds was one of two Virginia Senators to vote against giving military dependents the legal right to register to vote in VA. That’s interesting; who was the other?. Wonder how he feels about VA college students, who reside in other states, registering to vote in VA?

then again I could count the Democrats I like on one or two fingers, maybe none. Deeds did try to run as a conservative Dem for AG but lost, he was endorsed by the NRA. Since that time it seems he has moved way left, including becoming a global warming freak.

    Beat McCauliffe

would be “interesting” if a McDonnell write-in garnered more votes than one of the Dems.

    I’m pulling for McAuliffe myself.

    The guy’s a caricature!
    The ads virtually write themselves…

    it would never be reported

and is the ultra DC insider, not known as a Virginian. I can’t see any of them being worth a damn. I mentioned Deeds but he couldn’t even win AG last time. If I had to pick the easiest to beat, I would go Moran. But these days, nothing is easy for Repubs.
