on top of it all, the bottom-feeding, scum-sucking pigs who voted for this abomination deprived the loyal opposition (ya know, the people who helped get their sorry a$$e$ elected) of a psycohological win at a crucial time.

War (which is what we’re in right now) is as much about morale and psychology as it is about firepower. For 5 months, The One has jammed all manner of statist, socialistic, un-Constitutional hooey down the throats of the American people. To both friend and foe alike he has seemed free to do what he wants when he wants and all we had to hang on to was the countdown to 2010.

We *finally* had the opportunity to take the sheen and luster off the ‘invincible’ Obamachine and help change the narrative and these good for nothing, worthless weasels, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Absolutely shameful!!

Second, I would rather give money to Cao, who can win despite your protests, then to give money to someone who is not willing to put his country above his electoral success.

The point is that principles do matter, both in elections and in actually governing. If I were to follow your philosophy we could have a Republican majority in the House but there would be no real governing majority.

How does that help Republicans or our Country?

Do you think debt means they won’t throw money like crazy in the next cycle? That has nothing to do with whether or not Cao can win in ‘10.

All I’m saying is if the Dems put up a living, breathing human, it is their seat to lose. The fundraising arms are doing well, but that money is better spent on more winable elections. That’s what we need to be realistic about.

I appreciate Cao fighting the good fight, as Moe pointed out, and he should and will remain involved as time goes on. But he won in 08 with just 50% of the vote against a guy with cash in his freezer. That’s not a knock on him, that’s just a demonstration of how liberal LA-2 is.

Money is not flowing like it once was. The Dem machine has heavy hitters throwing money in a district where average D would beat average R by a huge margin. I like Cao an awful lot, and think he will have a place in Republican politics for a long time, but I just don’t see a scenario of him winning in ‘10 unless the dems are stupid enough to run another guy with kickback money in his freezer.

Give to Rubio. Give to Blunt. And yes, give to Castle even if he doesn’t fin your profile of a perfect candidate (by punishing Castle, you realize you’re helping a guy like mini-Biden, right? Castle can win that seat! Would you rather have a moderate or a super-lefty? Unfortunately a conservative won’t be on the ballot).

There are lots of wins to be had out there. This just ain’t one of them.

What happens if the Democrats nominate a black candidate, but another black candidate chooses to run as an independent, to have a sure shot at Cao? Then, the black vote is divided. Also, New Orleans East has a high Vietnamese population, sure to help Cao. Oh, its also gotten more Republican, down to D+25 now. There is a 2.7 % Asian poplation, and a 30.2% white population. IF the black vote is divided, and some will vote for Cao, then Cao has a chance, and if not in 2010, at a 2012 ( or 14, when Obama is not on the top of the ticket) rematch. If John Georges or a Republican leaning person is elected Mayor next year, and is popular, they may help Cao and campaign hard for him. Expect to see alot of Jindal, and, hopefully, Michael Steele in the district.

they botched it, and they sold us out. This bill is a disaster. It’s not a small little matter of it being inconvenient. This bill could seriously send our economy further into the toilet, faster than it’s ever been flushed before. It will increase unemployment, while simultaneously manufacturing inflation.

this is bad law, and bad economic, and these individuals should damned well have known that.

They get no reprieve. Send them packing. I wish to Heaven I could, but McHugh’s gone and secured himself a cushy little seat elsewhere. The good news: I DO have the chance to help find somebody who ISN’T a turncoat to fill his seat.

Joseph Cao’s votes on cap and trade and the stimulus don’t put his electoral future in jeopardy. Joseph Cao’s electoral future is a foregone conclusion, which allows him to vote no on those two bills, despite serving one of the most liberal districts in the country. Cao is going to lose in 2010. You know it, I know it, and he knows it, which is why he can vote no when his district no doubt would prefer he vote yes. Republicans are not in a position where they can throw resources at a lost cause. Have Cao vote no on every liberal piece of legislation possible, make the Dems throw as much money in that district as you can, and then prepare for the spanking that is inevitible in a +28D district. There are plenty of ways to reward party loyalty once he’s out of office in ‘10, rather than waste money we desperately need in winable races.

Mike Castle is a very popular Republican in a very blue state and has a real shot at stealing a senate seat that we need to have to offset some of the losses we’ve suffered. Give him your twenty bucks.

Some donation links had been done that allows the campaign to know where they came from…. I had added those links to Candidates in my Conservative Candidates (the Diary) as I’ve come across them. Other than that, do a Google search within RedState for the person, I don’t know … with “donation” and whatever else to narrow the search… to try and find a Diary that would have been created by Erick that has a donation link directly in the Diary. I tried doing a search within RedState to find one, as I thought for sure we tried to directly help fund Cao’s campaign, but I was unable to find one - MODERATOR/DIRECTOR? do you have a more direct TextSearch capability to go through Archives to find Diaries dealing with Cao’s campaign and our attempt to support? so we can use any direct campaign donation to him and that they’d then know it came from us like we’ve had for several others recently?!?!?

Though I did find this one….. Moe Lane (11/21/08) Diary: Are you tired of William Jefferson* (D) being the Representative for LA-02? *…in his freezer.
with this donation link but it looks like it just goes directly to Cao’s site and therefore may not really provide any tracking it came from us at RedState and there is NO Comment field for us to specifially identify ourselves and why we’re donating!

Lastly, I agree with Moe and others that it is foolish for anyone to think Cao would be a 100%-er… He is, after all, expected to Represent the District he is from and they will have some Left-leaning demands of him. He must hear from us to let him know he is supported as a Republican, in general, from across the country.

Hopefully, if Cao makes it through 2010 ( it CAN be done ),redistricting will make it easier for him. And if he does not make it, a 2012 re-match will be easier. I am doing a re-districting map of LA right now, making the 2nd District a little less democratic, by adding in parts of the 3rd and 1st districts. My only problem with adding the first is, I really don’t want to live in the 2nd district when I move home in a few years, but if it makes Cao’s election easier, hey.
